I left a box of fall/winter clothes with a friend in Korea expecting it to be able to get it shipped in like April or May...she couldn't ship it until last week, and it's getting a bit chilly already in my part of Shizuoka XD Hopefully you can get those clothes back! Glad you guys are settling in and you're slowly getting your apartment the way you want it~ (Also that steak looked delicious and when I heard the price my brain went "SO CHEAP.")

OH I LOVED THIS VIDEO!! Shopping vicariously is so fun. That train looks awesome to ride on. I have never been on a bullet train before. And Jen...several things- Montreal steak seasoning is everything. OMG... and do they have a Costco near you? As for sheets/duvet, can you order from someplace? Not sure if shipping cost would be prohibitive. Lastly...thank you for buying the Oreo ice cream cake... ;)
I might buy sheets online bc I checked Costco and their selection is basically floral sheets only which I don’t like lol. And the high speed rail was super cool!!

You’re having fun building your nest🥰 Bummer on losing your winter clothes😳 I once lost a whole large garbage bag of all my and my daughters best and favourite clothes, I was heartbroken. Hopefully the box will be at your in-laws , not lost, and you get to buy new clothes without feeling guilty.😂🤣😂🙋🏼
I’m sure it was sent to them but even so, I’m not going to ask for it back. We have the clothing sent to all my sister-in-laws & donated to others. I’ll just use it an an excuse to downsize and minimize my wardrobe !

All the food from this episode looks so good! I would highly recommend not storing your oil in the container you had bought in this episode because the air makes the oil oxidise really fast and can actually make it go rancid faster, so keeping it there in small amounts and taking some out of another large storage container every so often for convenience should be fine, but storing most of your oil in there could be a bad idea.
Omg, it's like shopping heaven over there! I mean, who knew ZARA Home and H&M Home were even a thing? Hopefully you can find new king-size bedding, though 😅 The High Speed Rail seems really nice. Is it as expensive as the Shinkansen?

Hopefully it will be restarted soon. My wife has just discovered taiwan made brown sugar boba ice cream bars. They're pretty expensive here in hawaii but all her japanese friends were raving about them on their facebook pages so she just had to try them. Wish she hadn't, they're $4 each

I'd be so upset if I lost my winter clothes, basically spend all year waiting for the time I get to wear jumpers and warm coats again! Love that new jacket you bought though! Also, must be kind of strange for you guys to have a big bed haha, does it feel like a novelty after your loft, or are you used to it now? That oreo desert looked so nice 🤤
A big bed is really strange haha. T still ends up smooshing close to me tho 😂👌🏻 I think the only reason I’m not more upset is because in Taiwan like the coldest it gets is maybe 12 to 15°
you might want to check another 大遠百 in HsinChu, it's the one where 鼎泰豐 (famous place for dumplings) is located. They sell different things than Big City. (Big City has another nice restaurant selling dumplings, it's on B1 floor called 點水樓) not sure if you can find Zara there, but you can at least find Massimo Dutti. if you like Yakiniku, there is a nice Yakiniku restaurant near Big City. it's called 一燒。 you might want to take a look.
Thank you for the recommendations!! I went to mango instead of Zara since it’s very similar but I’ll have to check out the other place. Also keep the food recommendations coming!! I literally have a note in my iPhone notepad of restaurants to try here 😂😅
Once you have settled in, check out the mountains and the beaches, particularly around central Taiwan and the east coast! When in doubt, do not hesitate to ask the locals for assistance. the Taiwanese people are one of the most hospitable in the world!
ahh it just melts my heart to see you (and hear T 😂) exploring the city and practicing your chinese! btw why did you guys send boxes to your in-laws too?
They took some things we didn’t bring to Taiwan for themselves if other family members. (Tv fridge etc) & then took care of the garbage for us since we didn’t have time to book through the city

I’m just now tuning in to the Taiwan vlogs (still need to catchup!) so forgive me if you’ve already addressed it, but I must be nice to have so much more room?!
Ahh I'm having a super bad week but been waiting for this video since I saw bits on insta 😊 Is it really expensive having to furnish such a large place compared to Japan, are things expensive? I know you did the conversion for the meat but I don't eat meat so I have no idea if that's expensive 😅
I was born in taiwan, but haven't been back there since my family immigrated; so I kinda forgot what the weather there was like. but...all I thought about with the jacket was.....errr, isn't it kinda hot there for a jacket like that? my parents had gone back to visit and they both came back talking about how ridiculously hot and humid it is there (obviously, we all acclimated to northeastern US weather in the intervening years, lol)
For some it might be hot! I was here in December last year and wore similar jackets like this in the evening. It should be fine during December to February 👍🏻
@@LayersOfJenn sounds like you can deal with the heat way better than I can. sorta envious, cuz there's lots of places I want to visit, but are just too hot for me
@@LayersOfJenn I always heard from the j-vloggers about how hot it is in japan in the summer (especially the ones in tokyo). how's it compare to taipei? ....or orlando, or guam? Did you personally have any issues going to onsen or sento while living in Japan with you tattoo? I've heard that a lot of places are starting to allow foreigners with tattoos entry.
Well, they "say" a lot will let people enter but I have yet to hear anything more. I have only been allowed into one public onsen with tattoos in Hakone. The rest (Shimane, Nagano, Hakone again, etc) I wasn't allowed to enter so hubby & I rented private rooms always. The same applies for public pools. Welcome to HsinCHu, My lovely hometown.
Omg I wish I saw T face when you walked in with so many shopping bags
😅😂
Hope you are doing well in Taiwan!
Thank you!!!
you might want to check another 大遠百 in HsinChu, it's the one where 鼎泰豐 (famous place for dumplings) is located. They sell different things than Big City. (Big City has another nice restaurant selling dumplings, it's on B1 floor called 點水樓)
not sure if you can find Zara there, but you can at least find Massimo Dutti.
if you like Yakiniku, there is a nice Yakiniku restaurant near Big City. it's called 一燒。 you might want to take a look.
Thank you for the recommendations!! I went to mango instead of Zara since it’s very similar but I’ll have to check out the other place.
Also keep the food recommendations coming!! I literally have a note in my iPhone notepad of restaurants to try here 😂😅
12:30 a mood hahhaha that would be me when I move
😂
*Don’t forget to like this video* 👍🏻
Who else is watching Yashahime?!? 🙋🏼♀️
Sameeeee!!!!
Love it! It's so nostalgic.
Meeeee
@@marj7306 I teared up at the start!

Once you have settled in, check out the mountains and the beaches, particularly around central Taiwan and the east coast! When in doubt, do not hesitate to ask the locals for assistance. the Taiwanese people are one of the most hospitable in the world!
I have a list of places to check out !!
Ohh That washing machine is even bigger than mine. I wish I had one with a dryer too
I’m not used to using a dryer lol. I’ve never had one in japan !
The Taiwan HSR is actually based on the Japanese Shinkansen :)
Ahhh that’s why I felt it was similar then~ very cool!!
your hand gestures are kinda my favorite.
I talk with me hands a lot 😂😅 being an English teacher didn’t help bc I constantly had to gesture things to the kids.
try looking for king bed sheets at costco
Ok 👌🏻
ahh it just melts my heart to see you (and hear T 😂) exploring the city and practicing your chinese! btw why did you guys send boxes to your in-laws too?
They took some things we didn’t bring to Taiwan for themselves if other family members. (Tv fridge etc) & then took care of the garbage for us since we didn’t have time to book through the city
love how you say yoisho when you get out of the car. Do you do that even when you are with English-speaking people now?
ummmm sometimes. It depends on if they speak Japanese or not. I'm just to used to these like nuances bc of my husband haha
@ , Jenn lives in Taiwan not China.
I blocked him!! Hopefully he cannot comment anymore :)
@@LayersOfJenn, well this "Tom Zhao" channel is devoid of any content which is typical of a Fifty Cent Army proxy account. Chinese government uses these proxy accounts to sow discord among UA-cam users so they will incarnate in another handle. Just be aware that your content has now been registered in China's radar.
👌🏻 I’ll take note!!
In taiwan, you can also use Line taxi :) it’s like uber
Ohhh I’ve never heard of that one before!!
I just discovered H&M had a home section! 🤯
I think in the back of my mind I kind of knew they had it but… Was very happy to see that it’s in my city
4:21 The driver is waving at you loll
I noticed that when editing 😂👌🏻 in real the moment I had no idea
😆😆
Good vlog! Is Uber the only transport? Trains? Keep exploring and uploading.
There are trains and buses!! I took a bus yesterday for the first time 👌🏻
I’m just now tuning in to the Taiwan vlogs (still need to catchup!) so forgive me if you’ve already addressed it, but I must be nice to have so much more room?!
It is very nice 👌🏻☺️
歡迎來台灣,加油!
You can take the Taiwan Railway next time. 😉 台鐵~
yay!!!
Ahh I'm having a super bad week but been waiting for this video since I saw bits on insta 😊 Is it really expensive having to furnish such a large place compared to Japan, are things expensive? I know you did the conversion for the meat but I don't eat meat so I have no idea if that's expensive 😅
I definitely find some things are expensive but that’s why I’m sticking to IKEA, Nitori, and muji (more affordable places)
@@LayersOfJenn ah ok, that's so funny, Muji is incredibly expensive in the UK 😅 But amazing there's Daiso there (wish we had Daiso!)
歡迎來到台灣!已訂閱妳的影片♥
I was born in taiwan, but haven't been back there since my family immigrated; so I kinda forgot what the weather there was like. but...all I thought about with the jacket was.....errr, isn't it kinda hot there for a jacket like that? my parents had gone back to visit and they both came back talking about how ridiculously hot and humid it is there (obviously, we all acclimated to northeastern US weather in the intervening years, lol)
For some it might be hot! I was here in December last year and wore similar jackets like this in the evening. It should be fine during December to February 👍🏻
@@LayersOfJenn sounds like you can deal with the heat way better than I can. sorta envious, cuz there's lots of places I want to visit, but are just too hot for me
@@issackao I think it is because i spent 7 & 1/2 years melting in Japan with their hot weather from June to October/November
@@LayersOfJenn I always heard from the j-vloggers about how hot it is in japan in the summer (especially the ones in tokyo). how's it compare to taipei? ....or orlando, or guam? I literally couldn't walk 200 yds in guam without sweating through my shirt. bar none hands down the most uncomfortable heat I've ever experienced in my adult life
My eyelids and kneecaps swear lol

4:22 The train driver waves at you!
They did ~ I didn’t notice until I was editing though. So cute!
Does T work late hours still like he did in Japan? Do you get to see more of him now?
It depends :) I can’t really say much. I’m happy though with everything ~
Thanks for sharing......
Thanks for watching .........
Ikea sell some cute bedding designs 🙂
👌🏻👌🏻
is the steak really that cheap there?! steak is so expensive here in korea :(
I think it’s cheaper than Japan but I’m not sure about every other country! I listed the prices on screen & said them tho, not sure if that helps?
@@LayersOfJenn Try Costco. I believe your city has one~
the product "康寶鮮味炒手" it's like ほんだし
King duvet at Costco? Amazon?
I got a king duvet from Costco when u first came but, The cover selection was super limited and all like flower patterns 🙃🙃
How long was the train ride ?
About an hour-ish!
Try Costco for sheets.
I did! They only have a flat sheet that’s king & a duvet (that I currently am using now in this video). I want a nice bedroom set though .. not the mismatching mess j currently have 😅😂
You’re shopping tooooo much hahah
No such thing ~
(I got those jokes lol)
Do you speak French since you are from Canada? Also I love that your okay with being makeupless on camera😊
Sadly I cannot speak French 😅
& no makeup is the real me haha.
No grocery haul??? 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Sadly no 🙃🙃🙃
@@LayersOfJenn next time?....🤔🤔🤔😛
Damn Oreo doing the most there
It really is… And I love it 👌🏻😂🐷
There are a lot of decor and home store. Well I am not sure where you are but all major cities in Taiwan should have lots of home decor stores. Not all of them are chic and modern though.
I had some people recommend to me some stores in my city & i went today!! *finally* got some sheets and other things!! yayy
It will be a bit cold in the winter because of the humidity, kinda reminds me of the weather of Vancouver in Fall
Ahhh okay!! I’ve never experienced Vancouver winter but, I’m from Nova Scotia where we get a lot of snow and rain. I think the climate might be similar to Vancouver since we are both on the ocean !!
For King-sized sheets/duvet covers, check out IKEA!
I got a duvet from IKEA but they only have maybe two sheets to choose from and I didn’t want floral 🙃🙃🙃 I’m going to keep looking 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@LayersOfJenn The online shopping is more popular in Taiwan. You might try some websites if you can read Mandarin. For example, Momo www.momoshop.com.tw/
12:03 What is going on with the tape on the elevator button panel? 🤔
It’s protection against covid. Easy to wipe down plastic & change. Cleaning the inside of buttons is hard. Places in Japan had this too 👌🏻
Welcome Taiwan~ We are the best country in asia.
If you hotel has a pool, there is a strong chance you won't be allowed to enter. When in doubt, always ask!
@@LayersOfJenn Thank you so much for your reply. This helps a lot. I'm absolutely loving these vlogs. Thanks for sharing these experiences!
Happy to help!! I can only share my experiences though. If anyone else has some, sharing is caring !
