- Taiwan's super efficient High Speed Rail is well worth using, reaching speeds of 280 kmph, and covering the 350 km distance between Taipei and the southern city of Kaohsiung in just 94 minutes.
A big welcome to those 2,000 new subscribers this last month, and of course a big thanks to the many thousands who have been watching this channel for a while. Cheers.
Adding to my woes , saw the price of your ticket , guess that is not return ? Suitcase info too :-)
Having a break :-)
Mountains are there :-) 280 kmh awesome , you passed Taichung , my first stop .
Awesome , thanks , just what I needed :-)
This is a very very very very very very very informative video
Another enjoyable video Eddie with some great information about a country that you rarely see much about.
😮 wow!! That was fast Ed ! You wouldn’t stop that thing over 50 yards ! Puts us in the uk to shame really ,except the Channel tunnel rail link at 186 mph ! Thanks for taking us with you ed! Think that deserves a nice cold beer 🍺! Great !
HS 1 300km/hr . check it on wikipedia
Cheers, mate.
Thanks Paul didn’t know that , channel tunnel rail link ,186 mph ,learn something new every day 👍
@@mikefromwales3209 no probs . i know the image of uk aint great ,but when you consider a lot of our railways were built not far off 200 years ago, its bound to seem a bit decrepit. also major infrastructure projects in uk are expected to be self financing with little or no public money, which helps keep taxes down , which keeps more money in our pockets.
Welcome to Taiwan. Taiwan is a beautiful country to visit.
You are a legend. Good to see you travelling again
Thanks, Geoff.
I was here when steady had 20k followers, 25k already . Won't be long til.its 100k and w3ll deserve
Brilliant channel
Thanks, Chris.
You need to take the east coast train to Hualien to see the amazing landscapes. The most amazing of all is Taroko Gorge, which is mind-blowing.
Ed, that was awesome. Wow, what a train. Thanks mate.
Cheers, Tony.
I'm really enjoying this series of videos eddy, keep them coming, thanks.
Cheers, Jonathan
Nice one Eddie ! keep them coming , this was a nice way to start my day Cheers
Great video ed the train looks amazing
I remember when I was growing up loads of products would have " Made in Taiwan " on them . I never knew Taiwan was as large as it is.
Train looks great Ed. Look forward to your travels over the next few months till my trip to Thailand in January. Safe Travels!
Thanks for posting another entertaining and informative video. I am used to putting my hand through the window and just giving the baht bus driver 10 bht. I tell you what, its a different world out there.
Always enjoy your travels. Thanks for sharing. Cheers 🍻
Eddy , I am liking Taiwan more and more because of your video , good choice imo for a holiday .
Thanks, mate.
I traveled this way in China. Very efficient. Looking forward to your next adventure Eddie. Thanks for sharing!
Looks great! If your in Shanghai try the maglev from the airport. It’s a short trip but it goes 424 km an hour!
I just adore travelling on bullet trains. The ones in Japan are just amazing!!!
Great video. You could do same type of video for Australia and highlight how old and slow the trains are here. 90 km an hour lol.
Good one Eddie, very very good
Brilliant! This was fun! Can’t wait for the next! 👍👍
I really enjoyed that journeyEDlooking forward to see your videos in this big city.👍good luck.
I've been on the high speed KTX from Seoul to Busan. Quite impressive these trains. Well done Steady Eddy.
Thanks, Timmy.
Did that same trip in September 2016 to catch up with friends.. Station is quite a distance from the city but the people are very friendly.
The trains are great in Taiwan but I had a lucky escape recently when I was there. The train I took 24 hours later came off the tracks killing a load of people. It is modern but they do seem to have had a bad run of transport disasters over there in recent years.
If you are feeling energetic Eddie you should rent out a bike from one of the Giant shops and go for a cycle . Bicycling is great in Taiwan.
Hi, person X. That crash sounds terrible. Thanks for your info.
Nice one Eddie. I would love to try the bullet train in Japan one day. Looks quite an exhilarating journey . Enjoy your next city.
Nice one Mr Sweeney, enjoying your videos.
good stuff eddy, heading in the right direction, you'll be happy with the beer prices down south, well done.
sound as a pound, enjoy it buddy, ya can even have a paddle should the call of the ocean hit your fancy, enjoy it buddy, well played, you've probably seen more of taiwan than the miserable ex pats that have lived there for donkeys, again, well done.
stick the ear plugs in on the beach and whack this on, ( you tube) bit of crossover northern soul....you'll love it....ok. crossover soul, joe 'jama' perales... my life... .
160 mph I think Ed 👍
Great Vlog always great info on moving from city to city
Thanks, Peter.
Great vlog Ed. Keep them coming 👍👍
Cheers, Richard.
Interesting film enjoy the rest of your travels
Taiwanese people are very friendly, courteous and respectful. They line up unlike Mainlanders
hi Eddie
9:29 " brought my own snacks":-). one learns quickly in taiwan!
have never visited kaoshiung, have never boarded a high speed train either. i may be wrong, but at that kaoshiung station, you looked really like a "real tourist", meaning one (i) could see by the look in your eyes you were at a place you've never visited before.
Eddie, hope you'll make a video about the hotel you were staying in taipei and the one in kaoshiung as well. thanks!
thumb up #209
Good to hear from you, Pique.
crocs and socks? gee mate you are keeping up the tourist standard of dress LOL
Was there 36 years ago. And interesting it was. Nobody spoke English outside the 5-Star hotel and the ladies were tough. Those were the days Edward!
Eddie baby how can a Country 40 years ago only had bikes have a better train system then us USA Amtrack thanks for the ride Bro.
Because Taiwan is small with a dense, urban population. The USA is spread far and wide. Taiwan is still great though.
Glad to see you enjoying your travels to new found lands. This is really quite inspiring. Why limit oneself to 1 or 2 countries when all of Asia is beckoning!
Very very good video steady
That was informative. I won't probably never experience it myself. When i leave home, it's to be like back in time, with horses, cows and chicken and no laws on the roads. My normal life is in a developed country and i appreciate to take a break of it.....As i appreciate going back to it.
Nice Taiwan HSR traveling!
Thanks! 😃
Nice upload
amazing best way to see the country on a train even at 185 mph + a train here from widnes to limestreet barely makes 50mph and takes forever and its late !
Eddie, it seem 2/3 of Taiwan is covered by mountain area. Ask around. They have 286 mountain over 8,000 feet. You should visit some. Just an exemple: Alishan National Scenic Area . How do I know. Many other vloggers like you did go visit mountain . Beautiful! Keep going mate !
very nice video.
Very Very Good.
Happy travels Eddie
I used to ride the ICE trains in Germany, they were exactly like that one. I rode them so much I had a Bahn Card, half price on all tickets. Still don't understand why we don't have these in USA. AMTRAC is nothing compared to these trains. Take Care My Friend, Stay Safe, Be Well, Mac from Georgia (USA)
welcome to onboard~
I was on the high speed train in Spain. We are "3rd world" compared to these countries.
The AVE in Spain is terrific and always spot on time except for unavoidable's. The pricing seem about the same but could you ever, if it gets built, see HS2 ever being £40 to Glasgow/Edinburgh. Those trains look super and better than AVE but they did have a 15 year start in Spain, probably due major upgrades. I find you never feel that you are travelling at those speeds.
@Newromantic999 Yes in Spain they have a suicide problem, it's called bull fighting.
@@MrAnubhabd There is a kind of bull fighting where the bulls don't get killed or injured. Not sure where though.
Graham..I think Portugal has no kill bull fighting . Maybe other places. The AVE in Spain....only way I can tell the speed was was how fast the telephone polls flew by.
@@robertburnett5561 Get a speedometer from google play.
you look sweaty eddie, were you there during humid summer? we were there few weeks ago and so hot, humid then typhoon hit so pouring rain haha..😆
Takes me longer to get the 15 miles into London..280kph is 173mph..Bloody hell that's quick.
zouying is the last station (until they extend it the next few years to Pingtung) and one to use to gonto Kaoshuing..
Train looked nice and clean didn't they sell beer on the train lol great video
Excellent stuff, hopefully the beers cheaper their 🤣😂
Great vid Eddje
Actually 2/3 of Taiwan is covered in mountains, just zoom out on google map. It's just that most mountains are in central and east side of Taiwan. West side of TW is mostly plains and that's why most TW population live on the west side and that's also why the high speed rail is in the west of TW.
Looking forward to a meal and beer 🍺 video 👍🏻
280km = 173.9mph
Very Very, Really, Really 👍
Looks a good trip
163MPH
Isn’t it something that the US doesn’t have any high speed bullet trains 🤔. Thanks for taking us along for the ride 😁.
Wow 😮 a fast train that is fast over 200 miles per hour
Nice vlog Ed 👍
Havent heard you talking about the night life and the rest... prices, bars etc..
Lee's House Sliema Malta there’s not one like Pattaya/Bangkok/Manila here....
Even Taiwanese go to Thailand and Vietnam for fun so what do you expect lol
@@Gugeoji._. boring Taiwan
It seems that the transportation in many parts of Asia and the far east is virtual light speed ahead of the U.S.A. 🚅
That is because they do not have the barriers like in the US. In a foreign country there a red no environmental red tape and land can be taken and no court delays.
@@anthonyC214 that's only true in China
@@anthonyC214 that's also why the high speed rail doesn't go into Kaoshiung station in downtown kaoshiung, because it would require moving a lot residents away.
Hi, Jimmy. The Taiwan HSR is ahead of anything in the UK. Seems we can't do anything without having protests, controversy and money worries, whereas in somewhere like Taiwan they just seem to get on with it and get it done.
nice one eddie
Wow man, that train is fast..
I love train rides
Best one for late 2019 two thumb up
Thanks E. The price is average compare to Europe. Have good time. JR.
the developers of HS2 in the uk need to watch this !
will pepsin and taiwan high speed travel was opened in 2007 !!
The top speed of THSR is 300 kmph. & two third of Taiwan is mountain. Just FYI.
Steady Eddie rolling high speed.
Nice vid. What did you get up to in Kaohsiung? Beers are a lot cheaper down there!
Forgot...I.think the rail system and beds have not been improved in decades. Years ago my Amtrak train had to slow down from sixty to about 20 mph on curves and water crossings.
Taiwan eastside which the high speed railway run is mostly plains and the west is mostly the mountains. if you want adventure then travel on the westside of Taiwan. just don't expect an efficent travel as this one
High speed rail is in the west, mountains are mostly in the east.
@@TWWalker-j6f thanks for the correction. i got mixed up with my directions
must be a first for everything i suppose .I didnt hear the phrase "A nice cold beer"once in the whole video !
He must be ill.
Any decent go go bars Eddie?
Well done. Would love to try a high speed train. Preferably Japanese engineered over mainland chinese engineering though. lol
Jeffbracer I’m curious why
@@StanDaFan Japanese smarter than the chinese
Danny Wildsmith I guess you forgot about the Fukushima disaster. Very smart
Taiwan’s Taiwan Rail was built by Japanese too during Japanese Era.
So both TR and THSR trains run on the left side, while cars on the roads run on the right side.
Where is the massage parlor?
You'd be scared of the States , 104 mph / 228 kph is some areas is normal driving . normal Highway speeds are 70 mph / 154 kph in a car
ticket price of $50 USD and 9o min , hmmmm . I can see why trains will not popular here , takes longer and cost a lot more
Cool
The best time is when the Ski Resorts open.
Ed, you did not stay in Thailand very long.
Ed, a technical question. How do you use the camera for yourself? It seems too comfortable to be usual selfie camera. Almost as if someone is using the camera for you. How do you manage that, may I ask?
Hi, Ross. I just put the camera on Auto. I use a gorilla tripod as a selfie stick. Simple.
Not exactly the british rail Northern Line🤣🤣🤣
Fair play Ed- you go to decent lengths to try and show you're not just a sex tourist!
A cup of water and a kitkat for the train journey...? I thought beer was compulsary on train journeys for Scousers.
Not happy that you called your accent 'God awful' fella, that's what's probably helped you get so many subs...
Got that off me chest, good vid Edward!
While your in town check out Manila Pub Restaurant, I’ve heard there’s Filipinas going there who are residents, just google it to find the location!
Superstar Eddie
A very fast train to take you from 1 place to another place that looks exactly the same,.with a view of all the industrial estates along the way,..Ed,you just saved allot of people a load of money and time,as it just dose,nt seem to be a tourist friendly country,.nice and clean and efficient,.but Thailand will knock its socks off in my opinion,.fair play your a braver man than me venturing out there,.cheers.
Eddie is there any knocking shops in that part of the world ?
Steady Eddie had to make a "high speed" departure from Taipei . Several bar girls... errr . young ladies were in hot pursuit wanting to get engaged ... cheers (fr USA)
Ed, You no longer travel alone, you are always dragging a few thousand viewers with you. Hope you did not have to set your alarm clock to catch the train.
Hi, David. Train was easy, and runs frequently. No alarm clock required. Good to hear from you, mate.
lol...you were in the industrial parts of Taiwan. The country is occupied by plenty of mountains and the forestry coverage is 70%.
Too many blanks, too much information missing this time Mr Sweeney like telling us the cost of your hotel in Taipei together with a video room tour with the location chosen no doubt for where you perceived to be close to the Red Light District, sorry I should have said where you thought all the nightlife was, but was not. As you are basically 'Owned' doing this, best of luck with the next 4 week's worth of reports.
“I know I’m not pronouncing Khaosiung correctly” he says.
You don’t pronounce beer, beautiful and numerous other words correctly either but that’s not stopped you yet! 😛😂
"beeee-eaaar-ah" is how he says it
