We bought a 2015 L405 5.0 Supercharged and have owned it a little over a year. Aside from regular maintenance (oil changes that I do myself), I've replaced wear and tear items (brakes and rotors front and rear), the main battery (the original one was getting tired), and two downstream O2 sensors (replaced them using my friend's lift). If you can do some of the maintenance yourself, you can save a lot of money. Be prepared...When this thing was new, It was over $110,000 and the parts will reflect that. I love the vehicle, but if you're the type that likes to skimp on maintenance, don't by a Rover. This is a vehicle that you need to be proactive with it's maintenance.
@@cadillachernandez2271 Replacing the downstream O2 sensors is pretty straight forward. You'll have to move some heat shielding wrap out of the way to access to the electrical connectors that are mounted to a bracket and use a open end wrench or a O2 socket to get them out. Definitely not worth taking back to a Land Rover dealership and getting screwed out of hundreds of dollars.
@@bigboiron No, but a working knowledge of what the vehicle will need in parts and can you do some of the basic work yourself helps. The V8 is definitely the way to go. At 100mph, you don't feel the speed of the vehicle. Literally no wind noise ...smooth and stable.
It will blow after 60k miles. They create them to break just after warranty expired lol my first one blow when it was 62k miles (head gasket) other one 67k miles (tranny). Lease them better deal.
IMO if you are a DIYer, these cars can be a steal. When you buy one you have to assume going in that things will break that you will need to fix. I bought a 15 RRS with 175000 on the clock, for 8000, it had a mild wreck in the front. Fixed it myself, also put valve covers on it, other than that it has been a fantastic car. Just took it on a week long trip to Colorado, and loved every minute driving it. I agree with other comments on here; if you cant DIY, plan on being rich to own one, but if you are willing to get your hands dirty, you can get a great car at a great price.
Excellent guide about the Range Rover L405. I just don’t get why this video hasn’t gotten likes from at least 5% of the viewers. People get a lot of value from this youtuber but seem to be incapable of pushing the like button. Why?
Well I appreciate that my friend, thank you for your kind words. I don't really ask for subscribers & likes which maybe why my numbers are lower although even when I do ask I've noticed there's no difference in engagement. I'm just glad people are watching and find value with the content. God Bless!
Dispite the issues (let's be honest, they're complicated cars), owners of Range Rovers absolutely love them. I don't think any other car brand has that level of loyalty.
I owned a 2019 RR sport supercharged with 32k miles on it. Had enough after 6 months of ownership. Came from bmw 750, and traded the rr in on s560 merc. German cars had superior quality over the Range Rover. Range Rover issues in 6 months included replacement of HUD, master door switch, binding in front diff, premature fading of exterior trim, rusted out fuel tank cradles, EGR pump replacement.
I think statistically, at least the last article I read, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz have the highest brand loyalty among luxury marques. I also recall the numbers not even being close.
Great video. These are great cars but you must do your due diligence. The CPO warranty is a must have in my opinion. I’ve had l320s and l322s in the past. Even a G class. The Range Rover drives like nothing else. Hunting for a nice CPO L405 and hopefully make my way into the newest body style in 2 years or so. I greatly appreciate the effort you put into this video.
My 2015 Supercharged with 120000 miles hasn’t missed a beat. Never once left me stranded and been off road, snow and ice, 2 feet of water and covered 500 miles at over 100 mph during Covid. It’s our 8th RR we have owned on four continents and only car I would buy for high speed on road and amazing off road. The commentator of this video has never owned one obviously and his comments are general and broad for most cars.
So according to you my friend, let's ignore all of the manufacturer/government resources, forums, and years of automotive experience/critical thinking that the commentator brought out and let's instead go based on your one off experience correct? The wrong people are just waiting to hear a comment like yours to ruin their financial life and I'm sorry but we have to be rational and protect the masses not just make yourself feel better about owning a Range Rover. But thank you for sharing my friend, I'm glad you personally had a great experience. God Bless.
Right, it’s thousands of others who don’t even do preventative maintenance that’s the KEY, BMW, Alfo and etc it’s the same maintenance. Folks go months without oil changes, seeing things that need to be fixed and wait until the last minute, they said the same thing about bmw x5M
@@miguelvega7769 BULLSHIT....Euro cars need no more maintenance than anything else......there are no less Toyota and Lexus owners who don''t take care of their cars, and they still run without issues. A leaking cooling system, electrical failures, computer failures, sensor failures, air suspension failures, body hardware failures.....you will have these issues on ALL European cars after the warranty goes out......and on Rover before that.......this has NOTHING to do with "maintenance"....it has to do with shit engineering and lousy quality. BMW X5 was one of the worst......you have NO CLUE what you are talking about kid......just blowing smoke.
Probably the very best video ive seen on Range Rovers. I would buy one in a heartbeat and remains my dream car. Anyone such as I who lived through the Leyland era in UK knows all about rubbish cars. New cars, all new cars, are head and shoulders better than the 60s70s cars. Great video.
All cars do have issues, but some have more than others and unfortunately Landrover/Jag have more than others, and it's such a shame as they're beautiful cars with amazing capabilities let down with poor reliability.
Yea that and also probably the most annoying part is the electronic gremlins that many owners have complained about it, they’ll get it fixed and the same problem will keep recurring over and over again. I feel like that’s the biggest annoyance even if you have a warranty on these
@@MeynMotorGroup 100% there's no point in a car that spends more time in the workshop than it does on the road, warranty or not, and you need a brand that's going to properly look after you when things go wrong, and this brand is just better overlooked when shopping for a car.
Had 3 JLR vehicles, currently have a 2 year old RRSport D300 Ingenium with 33k miles. Had odd minor issues, but not as big or as serious as F31 BMW 330d (steering rack, fuel pump, rear wiper failures) or Volvo S60 D5 (engine failure in year 1 @ 25k miles). Superb cars with masses of style.
I have a 2019 and there has been zero problems with it! I love the car and enjoy it very much - both in the city and on shooting trips in the middle of rough nature! I it is just a wonderful car, on longer trips it is as comfortable as a Merc S-class.
Do people that buy 2014-> range rover say it's unreliable, because it's an expensive car but since the price drop so much that people that originally can't really afford are going to be able to afford it, so the maintenance is too expensive for them or is it actually pain in the ass that even if you have the money it's still going to waste your time? What I'm going with this is that cars are cheap in the us so since maintenance price didn't depreciate so people that buy a car because the price depreciate so much, they can't actually afford the maintenance price. Btw the price of preowned range rover is still around 78.000 usd since the new car cost around 450.000 usd
Great review again. You better just lease the thing out. That Air suspension will take you to the cleaners when it gets old. This is a rich dad’s nightmare after warranty expires.
Not true. Times have changed. You can be refurbished/rebult struts for $300 a corner. It takes 1 hr a corner to swap. When they were new it was a different story. I offer this service.
I purchased my 2014 L405 in late 2013. 10 years later, very few issues. If they are as crummy as the comments above state, why do owners love them? Just like a Porsche Cayenne, these cars are really inexpensive to buy used after 6 years of age. They depreciate like a rock falling off a cliff once off warranty. Purchasers are afraid the older high-end SUVs will bankrupt them, but if you can find a reliable and honest independent shop, luxury SUVs are a real bargain to buy. Aluminum body still looks like new even with northern salt-covered roads in winter. Sure, all used cars require some good luck, but these Rovers are often kept in a garage, low mileage, dealer serviced by the original owner, and no one took them to a track. My 3-liter V6 gets 20-23 mpg highway and has more than enough power. Fewer problems than a new Defender.
In the right spec (wheels not too big, everything as it came from factory) fabulous SUVs! They just ask a bit more preventive maintenance than average. Great build quality and materials used. Worth the money imo.
@@lexrus7786 I have owned a 2013 RR Sport and now a 2016 L405. Love them both. No maintenance issues with either and put 70K on my Sport and am over 75K with my L405. With any luxury vehicle you are going to find a good number of issues just because they are outfitting it with new tech which has loads of sensors to measure varying aspects of the vehicle. Sensors fail and when they are part of a critical chain, it causes ripple effects. Every vehicle suffers from this, some more than others. Honda and Toyota both went through growing pains and have wonderful autos. LR/RR has changed hands enough times that they have had to shift production processes, this caused problems but overall, their reliability has increased considerably.
Unfortunately the new generation of Land Rover products are designed to last the 3 year warranty. I am now seeing the first generation of the new defender in the work shop, vehicles out of warranty with 36000 miles that need £500 plus spending on them.
Bought a new Landrover decades ago. It had 50 major problems. The agent would only fix one problem per day so I gave up. Never again as long as my feet point to the ground…….
a lot of people who own or drive these landrover they dont know how to change a light bulb or change a battery or cant change a spare tyer and when these things happen they come on youtube saying my landrover is broken again what a unreliable suv i really hate when people do things like that
That's literally 99.9% of people. Not everyone wants to be or will care enough to be an automotive expert/mechanic. Being a jack of all trades makes most people a master of nothing. Last thing a school teacher, nurse, lawyer, carpenter, insurance salesperson, engineer, architect, programmer, etc wants to do is come home and wrench on a car nor do they have time to learn since they spend their time and energy being an expert on their field of study which is why they can excel and make a great living. I've noticed this only with the automotive community but somehow if people don't know anything about cars they are an idiot but a watchmaker does not mock someone for not knowing how to put a rolex back together and a doctor won't make fun of you for not knowing how a pancreas works. It's a good idea to know some basic things with a car since most of us use a car everyday but I don't blame people for not knowing. Cars can be intimidating to most.
Exactly what I said. Totally incompetent. I can change breaks, rotors, spark plugs wires, full Pully kits, o2 sensors, batteries starters , hvac motors etc. i am buying one tomorrow and I have 3 other cars to drive in case I need to take it in to shop and have 3 toolboxes full of tools
if a vehicle is fitted with twice the equipment of a budget car then its likely that you will have potential for twice as many isues , so when looking at these reviews you must take that into account when comparing
I’ve had 4, currently own 2. Main issues with these Range Rovers are people buy them that can’t afford them! And or can’t even change the oil or brakes them selves.
What happened to the other 2? Did they die or did you sell them? I doubt the issue is people "affording" them. There are lots of great options higher and lower than a range. The issue with ranges is quality control. One person might buy one new and have zero issues the first four years and someone else might buy the same exact range new and have a bunch of problems after the first month.
@cjking4511 there are lemons with every company... btw have you had RR's??.. probably not. Its people like you. Who have never owned one that love to commet on how terrible they are... when they dont have a clue!! Lol as a Chevy guy... i can tell you my Yukon has cost me alot more to maintain than my Range..
@@cadillachernandez2271 Anyone who starts off with “there are lemons with every company” is writing a paragraph full of defensiveness and false assumptions. BTW RR stands for Rolls Royce and I have owned my phantom for 13 years without any issues. Each RR is hand made and they do not make lemons. LR is what you should use because it describe the Low Reliability of Land Rover vehicles and Low Reasonability levels of it’s consumers. LR customers enjoy making car payments forever and falsely assume owning a mass produced low quality control car which is prone to fail because of bad engineering and overuse of plastic parts somehow means their issues are all car brand issues when it certainly is not.
No, this car is not primarily made for the US market. It is made for the global luxury SUV market. Sorry to say it, but the US customers usually do not have enough sofistication for this sort of refinement.
This guy says second row in the L405 is cramped? Ths shows you he has no idea wtf he's talking about. There ia plenty of room no matter how tall you are also I've owned a 2013 v8 supercharged up to 76k and a v6 supercharged up to 82k with only having to replace a water pump on the 2013 and a couple of o2 sensors. Otherwise nothing! No issues. You also don't need a warranty unless you like wasting money. These cars have been out so long you can get almost any part used and have an independent put them on for you and for a fraction of what the dealer charges. Stay away from dealer service as they will rape you. There are plenty of independents these days that work on Land Rovers. Neglect it and yes it will cost you but take care of it and you'll love it and have few issues. It's one of the best all around cars you can own when you look at comfort,, luxury, sportiness, off road prowess and overall panache.
May God Bless you my friend but please do not lead people astray, yes you may be one of the few who has had minimal issues but keep in mind the majority of people who have had issues and how most are better off purchasing the vehicle CPO with a warranty. Again, your experience is not a guarantee for others. I did tell the viewers to look into the LWB for more legroom as I was referring to the SWB not having enough second row space.
The biggest issue with Landrover is the attitude towards its customers especially after sales, and rectifying issues. The lube changes are the easiest for them to deal with and bloody expensive but anything else is off limits.thats someone elses problem.and thats coming from a long term Kandy owner.
I'm an Englishman who has been driving Land Rovers products for over twenty years and can honestly say there is no place more comfortable to be.... ....whilst waiting for a tow truck!"
Times have changed. These mainly got a bad rep due to air suspension. Times have changed. You can get refurbished/rebuilt struts for $300 a corner. It takes 1 hr a corner to swap. When they were new it was a different story and thus gave a bad rep. I offer this service.
I was literally looking to buy a Rang Rover, (I own a Honda Pilot now)but there are so many videos/forums, people speaking on them, about them how so many bad things happened. They look really nice, better then all the other high end SUV’s but with that much trouble, I don’t have the time or don’t want to get stuck on the road.
@@highendtrends3508 If you were cross-shopping with a Honda Pilot... then you can not afford it nor are you their main customer. Your account shows that clearly. You can either afford it or you can not. These things are decent in reliability considering they are driven by celebrities and people who are financially stable. All while being off-road ready, looking good, and having a luxury interior. Most people with high-end cars generally also have a Triple AAA membership service on standby. You are not their demographic. Ride off into the sunset with your Honda beater, it is a reliable car, but don't get delusional.
Hello my friend, thanks for stopping by, if you get a chance, consider watching this vid at x2 speed as I think it can help but I def think a new Defender with the inline 6 for around $80k is the best value in the lineup since clean L405 lwb supercharged v8s go for around $60-$70K for a 4 year old vehicle with around 50k miles, the Defender will be new with no miles and still drive amazing 👍
If I have 200k to buy one of these one question I am not asking about is reliability. I’m rich!!! Who really buys one of these because they want a reliable grocery getter. I’m rich!!! After 2/3 years I’m trading it in and getting the newest one again!!!!! Cause I’m rich
I was looking to purchase a Range Rover. Either a brand new or slightly preowned with very little miles. But I have a friend,Tell me to be careful what I decide because right now I have a 2018 Honda pilot. When I started looking up and started reading forms, I was sadly surprised. How many issues and problems, come with this vehicle. Some people bringing it vehicle to the shop and not getting it for a month finally getting it and then not getting it back again because it had to bring it back.
hi would you recommend a 2017 diesel engine model with 84k miles priced for usd37,000? any pointers or issues with the diesel engine to know about? thank you
Outstanding content. Lot of great info provided….. oh by the way Raleigh Imports (NC) currently has a few Range Rover Sports, Evoques,( and 1 Autobiography) been listed from a few months ago. Unsure if only warranty are offered 🥴
One of the most unreliable cars ever built however, if you have extra cash and money doesn't matter you will be in for a treat. Suv is pure Luxury, class, comfort and performance.
running a 2013 30 TDV6 L405 tempted to buy very sceptical as all these stories regards the crankshaft snapping are these on early models or any recent TDV6 engines
I wish I could get RR reviews from a mechanics point of view to a DIY person. I’ve had a few German cars and none of them had warranty. Well, I was the warranty because I do all my own work. I really want to know what it’s like to work on them because I’ve had to work on every car I’ve ever had (including Lexus) and some are easier to work on than others. The Lexus was NOT the easiest to work on BTW.
It’s a mechanics nightmare and no amount of harbor freight tools can help you with this one. Parts are a pain to get, if you love working on cars in your free time just get an old Honda on the side and keep it there. This is a lease and dump I thought people understood this but if not watch the video most comment without watching the whole thing
It’s called an average failure rate, some owners will not see major issues but more than average will. It’s generally the opposite with the likes of Honda or Toyota.
when I bought my 2012 Toyota. Venza. I researched the heck out of that Vehicle. And I'm aware of a recall when I was buying it. every signal Venza on the market during my search does have that same recall it's at the driverside airbag connector. As soon as I registered on the Toyota website I received a letter to let me know about the issue and that they are working on it. a redesigned connector. A few months later I received a letter and e-mail to let me know the part will be fixed at no cost to me. at any Toyota Dealer near me. and the problem solved
Yes factory warranties always transfer to any secondary owners as long as your still within the mileage and year caps. I’m with you on buying new at this point. By the time you pay the price for a nice CPO car it’s just not a big enough discount. Also if im going to be paying 60k+ for a car I want to order it the way i want it. This is especially true of Porsche where used ones are barely discounted and with so many options it’s hard to find a used one equipped the way you want.
But do you think the warranty will still transfer if for example person buys the vehicle from a non authorized dealership like the Volvo dealer I used in the example? From my understanding, first owner will buy or lease it new then trade the vehicle in to a dealership (like the volvo dealer) technically since they bought the car, wouldn't warranty transfer to the dealership? And when we come in to buy the car from the Volvo store we would be the third buyer in this equation so that's why I was confused if we would get the remainder factory warranty passed to us. But yes I def agree not much discount off MSRP compared to the person that bought new especially considering the mileage and we're not even getting it in the spec we want.
@@MeynMotorGroupyup as long as the car got a full dealer service history the warramty will be valid even if you are the 5th owner and bought the car from a private seller, as long as it is within the warranty's time and mileage limit. That goes for every car, not just RR. This is because the head office of the car company pays dealerships for warranty repaira so it doesn't matter who sold it.
Does the Velar fall under the category of nightmare after warranty category? I’m sure it does 😭 but I really want one so bad I just don’t want to deal with that head ache. Can you do a review on the Velar?
I reviewed the Velar in 21 and it’s a good vehicle just finance a new 4 cylinder model and keep until the warranty expires. Leasing would be the best way to go and I have a free leasing calculator in the description box for you to use to see if programs are good in your region because Range Rover leases suck where I live
@@MeynMotorGroup Yeah lease deals where I’m at are pretty bad too, but I’ll still check it out because maybe things have changed and gotten a little better. But I do like the idea of financing it and just trading it in when the warranty is over, you have my mind thinking now lol. Thanks for the help!
Range Rover full size and the sport are real rich people vehicles. First they cost a lot to buy cost a lot to run you lose a fortune in devaluation when you come to replacement. Plus you have the unreliable issues that come with it. If you can handle all that and doesn’t bother you then your rich no problem, you will probably have other vehicles to drive when the Range Rover is in the garage for repairs
@@MeynMotorGroup I had a Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 petrol when BMW owned the company it was a 2005 model. I can honestly say it was like driving a Bentley with BMW reliability. However as soon as the three year warranty was about to expire I changed it.
Then Stick to Hondas, let’s not jive because some folks say Range Rover is bad, most of the folks never even changed a water pump but swear up and down know everything about something they never EVER drove let alone owned
There is one a few streets over from me for sale. I am never thought of owning a RR as I couldn’t afford to spend over 100k new and obviously wouldn’t buy one brand new. The one owner 2013 Range Rover HSE for sale near me has just the 5.0 V8 looks and states meticulously maintained with 100k KM’s on it so 60k miles on it , stored for the last 6 winters. It’s definitely a beautiful looking all black with a second set of winter rubber. Asking 16k cad or best offer. Just saw it today so I haven’t spoke to the two friends of mine that own Land Rovers, there’s are newer models so I’ll do my research but damn it looks mint. Definitely curious Anybody with a 2013 V8 Sport let me know your thoughts ………..appreciate it !
IDK about iterior room in L405. I don't think "cramped" is anywhere near that. I just switched from 2013 L320 RRS to 2016 L405 and room is plentiful, at the back seats as well. I am 5'11 and room in plenty behind me.
How is it holding up, I was looking to purchase a Range Rover , but I started watching videos and reading forums and my god, it’s making think twice. Please if you could make a video about your experience that would be great.
The problem with land rovers I find is every who says they love them had no issues is driving it till 100k or less then swapping to a new one. That's not long long term reliability. I'd like to see more people reviewing 100k plus ones. Great looking and feeling but hot garbage unless you can foot the bill without asking how much lol
What are your thoughts on LOW milage LR's? Suppose there was a 15k milage out of warranty for a decent price. It is more the milage associated with issues OR age of vehicle?
If it has 15k miles it should have factory warranty on it so it should be fine. Someone commented saying that newish low mileage vehicles at a none land rover store will have factory warranty that will be passed down to the next buyer but I would just call the dealer and double check to be safe. But at that point you're paying so much for a clean low mileage Rover that you can just buy a brand new Defender or something for $80k. And as I stated in the video, new used doesn't matter, I've had issues with literally 200 miles JLR products
Would be good to check why it's thats low milage and yet out of warranty due to age. That could be a sign it's been dead and in the garage most of its time in existence
A good rule of thumb is this: If the secondary market is the only way you can afford to get into these vehicles, then these vehicles aren't for you. Side note: Saying that "all modern vehicles" have electronic issues due to all the sensors, cpu's, etc. is simply making excuses for JLR products. It's making excuses because JLR products have been known to have reliability issues decades ago...since the late 70's from what I can remember.... long before all the electronics became commonplace in today's vehicles. Back then, they were called "electrical" issues....as opposed to today's "electronic" issues.
I never fault the owners of range rovers for buying them. Yes they should do research before making such an expensive purchase, however the manufacturer needs to treat his loyal consumer better by offering much, much better quality. Shame on range rover.
I live in the Peak District of uk these cars are mainly drove by rich city drivers. The majority of farmers working class drive a 80s land almost zero elerics on them the rich farmers drive 1980s reign rovers because of less problems
I work on Land Rovers and love them but unless you’re competent in home mechanics or have very deep pockets avoid vehicles out of warranty like the plague! Especially anything with an ingenium engine they are total shite.
I am very competent in home mechanic repairs and have all the euro tools. I Can do many things and just got a house with 2 1/2 car garage full-size and have low profile 3 ton jack and stands I am buying on tomorrow am
I buy a car like RR cz I want it and I can afford it....if there is an issue,I walk in a RR workshop, they make .mostly an excellent service and that's it.....this car is made for people they can pay this service and the car and it's a luxury vehicle....means, it costs more than a Lada...but in many people's mind is an error, I guess it comes from watching social media day and night, made them believe. buy it!..... no you can't, buy a car for your budget and enjoy it....and don't believe you rise up into VIP lounge or high class....it's the car, not u ...same with Rolex and other luxury brands...be good
my opinion the landrover products r great but think the main problems that hurt landrover r electrical problem or electrical nightmaire if they can solve that they a good to go /
Yea you're def right about that certainly an electronic nightmare which is why the common person can't really work on one of these vehicles or most modern day cars for that matter

You can ask your local Land Rover dealer how much they charge for their warranty and if it is pro rated and if it is a proper bumper to bumper warranty that covers everything. Could also ask Hendrick AutoGuard
@@shubhamchauhan3981 keep it for as long as the dealer allows you to extend the warranty and once they say the vehicle is too old to extend the warranty, sell the vehicle.
I’ve never been able to understand why anyone needs a vehicle like this. How many ever go off road? I suppose they are a kind of status symbol. Mines bigger than yours!
These vehicles are to be leased using interest earnings from your bank account or investment accounts. NEVER spend your capital on them unless money is absolutely no object.

No it's just about being an average sized Male at 5' 11" having shins rub against the plastic backing of the front seats and knees in one's own nose due to the high floor design.
@@InspirationalMagic extended wheel base version of this is fine along with flag ship sedans and fwd sedans like the ES or Volvo S90. Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, and Land Rover Defender have a great amount of rear leg room as far as SUVs are concerned. Vehicles with soft seat backings help a ton with adult leg room but I get it, for people with kids the plastic backing will help protect the front seat when the kid has a tantrum and their kicking up against it
You can't expect a vehicle to as many features as these thing have and not have issues after 5 or 6 years of going down the road. What other then do you buy and not have issues after a few years. The asian cars seem to do better because they have no features. Jump in a toyota 4 runner. They look 30 years old. but it might run forever.
Doesn't matter who makes the car every new vehicle has the same features now which is the point of these buyer's guides. There's too many things to count which means all new cars are disposable and not worth keeping after the 3 year mark.
For the price of these cars I'd expect more. Spending almost $100k just for it to be in the shop so often isnt good at all. Why are they charging so much for them? I think I'll start away from this vehicle. The depreciation of them is nasty. You're paying for a name and it isn't even holding up. Then you've got repairs once the warranty expires.
RR vehicles are pretty nice when they are new (same with BMWs); but, they don't age well at all... They are for people with some money yet low wisdom on 😑, I may even go as far as qualify them as superficial... My TLCs have aged very well and the newer model are just as well equipped as the new RRs.
Look beautiful, especially the interior and no doubt drive amazing. However, unless you can afford it brand new and replace it every few years, just stay away. Even then, there will still be issues. My nephew bought one brand new, yep within months turbo failure. Electrical systems will fail and the gearboxes are weak, especially if it’s used to tow. Stay away used, you will regret it.
I have Land Rover Sport autobiography 2012 it's so good car i have it for 10 years no problems with the engine Jacquard engine Supercharged V8 people give this company bad reputation because they are jealous If you can't ride cars and take responsibility go and ride donkeys better for you

@@Hilighted yea I hadn’t looked it up I just spitballed was trying to say that economy car struts can be had for much less than flagship luxury air struts but yes looks like struts on a 2013 Camry will go for around $400-$800+ depending on quality which is sadly a ton of money for a 10 year old economy car. But yea the TSBs on a Toyota is going to be far less severe than this Rover 👍
The ZF8 transmission is a disaster and nobody knows how to repair it. The naturally aspirated 8 offers no more than 10 mpg in town if you are lucky. Space in standard wheel vase is sufficient.
I hv a 2015 l405 aswell.. should i just change those 02 sensors myself??.. pretty straightforward??cheers!!
So you need to be a mechanic to own one 😆😆
@@bigboiron No, but a working knowledge of what the vehicle will need in parts and can you do some of the basic work yourself helps. The V8 is definitely the way to go. At 100mph, you don't feel the speed of the vehicle. Literally no wind noise ...smooth and stable.
This is hands down the most gorgeous vehicle
I have owned my L405 RR since new in 2020 and 40k miles later no significant issues. A great car.
It’ll start with an oil leak from the main seal 😂
It will blow after 60k miles. They create them to break just after warranty expired lol my first one blow when it was 62k miles (head gasket) other one 67k miles (tranny). Lease them better deal.
How many miles when you bought it and what is at now. Do you have the v6 or v8?
@@markcarter389770k miles 2016 and I have an oil leak... not sure where from.
40K? Big deal. The real problems start at 60k.

Dispite the issues (let's be honest, they're complicated cars), owners of Range Rovers absolutely love them. I don't think any other car brand has that level of loyalty.
They're loved and adored by rich people that don't mind wasting money on constant repairs and maintenance to own a major status symbol.

I ended up buying a 2005 Land Rover LR3 HSE, really enjoying the driving experience so far.
You taught me so much. I’ve watched tons of Reviews and many cars but never heard of TSB. Kickass job!!! Best review of all time!!
Glad it was helpful!
God Bless.
BULLSHIT......and next you will tell us it has the original tires and oil....take your BS somewhere else.
Thanks so much for your kind words sir, and I truly appreciate you stopping by and sharing your experiences/insights!
That is why Toyota Land cruiser rules the market
But you've never owned one, and you don't know anyone who owns one either. So where are you getting your information from? Just googling through life?
I haven't had the time to watch this one yet, but I was shocked to see this video was only 25 minutes on any Land Rover model reliability.
When you watch you will see why I was able to make it short 😂 basically I just pulled up the TSBs and told people to get a warranty 😅

Great build quality? What are you smoking?
Always loved them

3:42 i disagree, space in the back is great, don't have to go LWB just for that
This guy says second row in the L405 is cramped?
Life is too short for repairing Land Rovers.
In my experience repairing cars, No matter how new or old, Range Rover has so many issues that are not acceptable at all
A car to be leased, never bought.
It’s called an average failure rate, some owners will not see major issues but more than average will. It’s generally the opposite with the likes of Honda or Toyota.

@@MeynMotorGroup yes 100% it would

@@MeynMotorGroupyup as long as the car got a full dealer service history the warramty will be valid even if you are the 5th owner and bought the car from a private seller, as long as it is within the warranty's time and mileage limit. Range Rover full size and the sport are real rich people vehicles. First they cost a lot to buy cost a lot to run you lose a fortune in devaluation when you come to replacement. Plus you have the unreliable issues that come with it.
That could be a sign it's been dead and in the garage most of its time in existence
new units sold get kickbacks from manufacturer, pre owned is down to dealer only so no discounts
Exactly my friend, sadly many consumers are not aware of this
I guess all of the Plastic is only intended to get the vehicle past the warranted period ,
which is not a concern to the original owner.
very good video. learned a lot
Glad it was helpful!
I Can do many things and just got a house with 2 1/2 car garage full-size and have low profile 3 ton jack and stands I am buying on tomorrow am
dont talk about height sensors what joke great looking suvs i just love any landrove but reallibilty wow wow
Lol just got a mint 2017 for under $30k. Prices are falling everywhere
Hope I found a bottom
May I ask y'all what's the most durable/reliable vehicle in the market. I'm a new driver
Toyota Corolla and Toyota 4runner.
@@350zlover2 thanks for responding. Appreciate that
Yea Corolla is the best car first car for sure
Get yourself a Toyota, and it will last forever. Just keep the regular oil change, and it will last you 20 times more than any other makes
TOYOTA - Great choice for people who hate cars.
please make velar version thank you 🙏
In Africa,we buy and manage them without much ado.
Because you steal all the spare parts
700 lbs is obviously not 39%
Is it okay to buy a 2013 Range Rover L405 SDV8 HSE Dynamic 170,000 km driving distance vehicle? Repair of turbo related parts is said to have been completed in June.
Dont even think about it mate, I have a 2015 with 50k and had oil cooler radiator hose and a intercooler leak iv only owned it a year
I just got a 2017 used DIscovery with 3.0 V6 supercharged. My only option is extended 3rd party warranty. Is that ok, or is this crap?
You can ask your local Land Rover dealer how much they charge for their warranty and if it is pro rated and if it is a proper bumper to bumper warranty that covers everything. Could also ask Hendrick AutoGuard
Does CarMax still have bumper to bumper warranty on Range Rovers?
Doug Demuro ruined that for all of us lol
Check class law suit in Australia.
We hace save issues here with my Range Rover
How about owning this vehicle for life time?? How does that settle?
Ofcourse a used certified one
@@shubhamchauhan3981 keep it for as long as the dealer allows you to extend the warranty and once they say the vehicle is too old to extend the warranty, sell the vehicle.
Do you find the 6 cylinder velar more reliable than 4 cylinder? Someone is looking at one and knows I research everything so they asked me lol
Honestly my friend, no it's not any better. Also it's the electronics in these vehicles that tend to cause a lot of issues sadly.
@@MeynMotorGroup is that specific to the l405? They are interested in a velar and want to give them good advice
Beautiful, but essentially undrivable. Tata should sell to a Japanese company who can produce these cars properly.
I’ve never been able to understand why anyone needs a vehicle like this. How many ever go off road? I suppose they are a kind of status symbol. Mines bigger than yours!
These vehicles are to be leased using interest earnings from your bank account or investment accounts. NEVER spend your capital on them unless money is absolutely no object.
air suspension the entire air ride unit is a joke from day one until today that is one of landrover biggest failure / a off road suv with touch screen hmmmm 99.9%of new range rover dont go off road so y do u need air suspenion i owned p38 l322 and i had electrical problem air suspenion problem all the time my opinion from jamaica
Swap it out for regular struts and shocks bilsteins bro
L405 not having enough space wow. Must be an American thing.
No it's just about being an average sized Male at 5' 11" having shins rub against the plastic backing of the front seats and knees in one's own nose due to the high floor design.
@@MeynMotorGroup im intrigued, what European car is spacious to you then?
Volvo Showroom has Dealer Fee of $4000 Appx 🤬
RR vehicles are pretty nice when they are new (same with BMWs); but, they don't age well at all... They are for people with some money yet low wisdom on 😑, I may even go as far as qualify them as superficial... My TLCs have aged very well and the newer model are just as well equipped as the new RRs.
My AutoBio is in the shop with an electrical issue that makes every light possible goes on. :) that's few thousand gone.
Maybe in the USA you would drive a 5 litre super charged car, definitely not in Europe..
Great that's why they offer different engines
All owners say it is crap
Look beautiful, especially the interior and no doubt drive amazing. However, unless you can afford it brand new and replace it every few years, just stay away. Even then, there will still be issues. My nephew bought one brand new, yep within months turbo failure. Electrical systems will fail and the gearboxes are weak, especially if it’s used to tow. Stay away used, you will regret it.
Agreed and thanks for sharing this
The type of people who buy Land/Range Rovers do it because they don’t know any better. That is just the way it is plain and simple.
Used maybe new not so much
Stupid comment.
It’s clear you’ve never driven one and don’t know any better.
Range Rover is like and Alpha - you make the mistake only once, and I talk from experience
I have Land Rover Sport autobiography 2012 it's so good car i have it for 10 years no problems with the engine Jacquard engine Supercharged V8 people give this company bad reputation because they are jealous If you can't ride cars and take responsibility go and ride donkeys better for you
If you're thinking to buy this car take it by leasing. Never cash or pay monthly. Never!!!
I think in Japan they probably wiping their eyes
So basically still lease these cars as they are unreliable and will be worth nothing 7 years after new
Yea but lease programs suck on these now so you basically have to be very wealthy to afford one this is no longer something a regular person can just finagle
39% lighter?
yea I'm not sure how they came up with that figure either it's only 700 lbs lighter not sure why RR claims that is 39%
The ZF8 transmission is a disaster and nobody knows how to repair it. The naturally aspirated 8 offers no more than 10 mpg in town if you are lucky. Space in standard wheel vase is sufficient. Headliner will come off (as it does with every LR vehicle, definitely each that I owned). Water pump will break down. Air suspension will break down. Plastic interior ornamentation will fall off. Most important: LR authorized service is the WORST in the world. Find a good local mechanic.
ZF 8 speed in used in over 21 million cars...best out there.
@@chadhaire1711 It very well may a decent transmission, but only LR holds the key to the transmission used in LR and so nobody knows how to repair it. As result I consider it crap.
@@hanssaykiewicz4319 That gearbox is good for 10 years and by then that Rover will be dead from other issues......but that fact is ALL European cars are falling apart after the warranty is done....48 months....BMW, Benz, Audi, VW, Fiat, Affa......and Rover. You trade in every 3-4 years or lease...then dump so a sucker will see it priced cheap and take the bait. There is a reason a $120,000 Mercedes or BMW sells for $20,000 used.......People buy Rover for status...like Ferrari. A 2023 Rover PHEV in USA has a one year wait list, and most Rovers have an extra $10-$50K over sticker price at the dealers....a V-8 can jump from $190,000 sticker to $350,000 asking price. I have a 2023 Rover PHEV factory test car here.....the left mirror changes position every day, and the cooling hoses are leaking already.....but it is a Rover and impresses all the hot babes......LOL.....hate to give it back.
