I would be interested in a similar video about Marine Band radios.
Hi, thank you for your suggestion, however we do not have Marine Radios in our portfolio
Great video, covers everything, thanks for doing it
thank you
Great video mark very informative
Thank you, very kind.
thank you
Thank you Mark 🙂👍
thank you for watching
Hi Mark, Informative video. You mention they can be used by 'Aviation Enthusiast', but no mention that users must be licensed to use them. Obvious to most, but not everybody.
Hi David, license not necessary for RX, but yes, one needs to be either a licensed pilot or authorised controller to TX. I did my PPL so long ago now, that I also took a separate Aviation Radio License!
@@Martin_Lynch He is correct you can't legally listen to the aircraft band unless you are licensed to do so in the UK although plenty probably do.
For RX, no license is required, for TX, please see www.caa.co.uk/commercial-industry/airspace/communication-navigation-and-surveillance/aeronautical-radio-stations/
All:- I did state a gaff, channel spacing is of course 8.33Khz not Mhz :-/ I was tired!
Hi Mark
Hi back :-)
thanks
Can we as ham licensed buy to use for receive only being they are superhet?
license not required for RX, so sure, no problem, just don't TX
Priced the ICOM Airband transceiver base station, way too over priced. Found an older Comms only radio for $400, need a 12 to 24 converter for it. This rounds out my Go Box for my SAR work.
Mark, greetings from Singapore, Gr8 Aviation knowledge, looking forward to using these in the future after ground school, CHEERS🎉

No been there for years :-) - Fab to hear and hope the FTA serves you well
In the United States IMO: there should be a test in order to use the air band frequencies on an individual license basis at a PSA testing facility...these airlines personnel are a joke when it comes to using the radio! i.e copy this and copy that does not work
I'm sure no license needed for RX, but Yes, I'm pre-historic enough to have taken a separate Radio test and license when I did my original PPL :-)
