They didn't think Hocker could run 3.27 but one poster on the letrun message board did.

Great breakdown of the men's 1500m final, Centro! Your insights into the race dynamics and athlete performances are always fascinating. Excited to see how Jakob and Josh match up, and curious about Hocker's potential impact. 🏃‍♂🔥 #1500m #Olympics2024

Ultimately Jakob is the favorite because he’s the only one on the starting line who can say, “I’m going from the gun guys and good luck following me.”

Feel so bad for Jakob, he could have gotten a medal (not gold) he simply went too hard and it was too much for him. Props to Cole.

He probably felt that was his best chance to win as Kerr, Hocker and others have a good kick at the end.

Josh being "banged up" could just be from his fall in the British champs 800m a few weeks ago?

    Thanks for the nice chat!
Gulag 😀aka repechage makes sense if your only goal is to make the semifinals. Finnish 800m runner (Määttänen) was complaining that two hard runs (1st round + repechage) was too much. So she could have taken it easier on the 1st run and go 100% on the repechage.

I think the repachage rounds are designed for when the best athletes mess up, like when Sherika Jackson didn't make it out of the 200m heats cos she slowed down too much. I reckon they know that the other athletes won't benefit from it, but don't care 😂

Everybody talks about Jacob, Josh..I understand that, howeverI am going for my boy Hobbs..That 1.43 800 meters speaks volumes..He is running smart and uses his speed when it counts..Hobbs going to medal, maybe not win,but he will medal and think he will run in the 1.42 for the 800..

It would be strange not talking about Ingebrigtsen. He won the last olympics. He has been number two the last to worlds. He has won almost every other race the last three years. And, he just ran 3.26.73 before the olympics showing that he is better than ever. His season plan is to be at his best today, win the 5000 saturday and then set a new world record in the 3000 in a few weeks.

It’s funny seeing the entire LRC brain trust on the left all sharing one mic.

I think Ingebrigtsen will leave Kerr behind the last 250. Kerr will have burned so much that he will strugle to get a medal. After the race I think we will see in the interviews that the two of them have a hugh respect for the other. They have really put on a show and put the 1500 on the world map. I love it

Excellent breakdown by Matt...especially in regards to Hobbs. 2 more years and Hobbs will be dominate.

Matt won gold with a time of 3:50. Faith Kipyegon won gold with a time of 3:51. Hocker showed Matt how a 1500 is run.

Championship racing is about winning, above all else. Both have the ultimate prize. Hocker won the fastest ever Olympic final, and Centro showed us how an incredibly smooth, efficient, and tactically superior runner can steal a comically and historically slow Olympic final with a great kick. A win is a win.
