- I just went on a trip to Ottawa, and wanted to bring a camera to vlog my trip. When deciding between the DJI Pocket 3, Action 4, Nikon Z30, the choice was obvious. Here's why I only brought the Pocket 3, and why it's such a great vlogging camera for travel vlogs.

You made that video of why not to buy it. You convinced me but I caved in and bought one and I love it. So funny to see that it won you over too. It is not perfect but it's damn good.
Call to Sony, that we need rx 100 VIII :P with lens from VII (mayble little wider), and 4k 60/120 fps
There's still no perfect camera but you have a set of cameras that are good for different jobs:
Sony A7SIII - Wildlife
Canon R8 - Studio
Pocket 3 - Walk and talk
Action 4 - Scooter
Nikon Z30 - eBay

Insta Ace - eBay
So, there's plenty material for the channel; comparing how different cameras do different jobs and if they can do more than one. Once you find one camera that does everything better than the above cameras, then you have the perfect camera.

Yesterday it was "girlfriend", today its "fiance". That was fast (or did you get in trouble) lol.
The dlogM looks worse because the normal color mode is re-lighting your face, its the smart HDR effect, like a phone. The log profile is just flat, unedited, natural.
Frozen tundra is redundant. Tundra has to be frozen to be tundra.

The thing I love most about the pocket 3; I am actually making MORE content because it does everything so well without the hassle of "setup" and needing to be a one man set crew to get going. Plus it fits anywhere, has lens selections and ND's. This combined with an Ipad mini for editing is just a game changer.

Even though they didn't send you the test and review sample from DJI, they listened to you obviously, as you said for Pocket 2, "make it with 1" sensor and make it a bit bigger", so they did so. Very interesting surrounding good for this kind of vlog.
DJI Full Frame already exists, DJI 4D. The perfect vlogging setup.

The deadpan humour belongs in the next Deadpool movie. Picture the scene, Deadpool, for whatever reason is in a camera store and our man here is behind the counter trying to advise him what the best camera/ lens combo would be for the shot. Perfect 4th wall scenario 😅
We need pocket 3 PRO with Apsc sensor. Already pocket 3 is carried by most in a bag they give with creator combo. So, go the full length and make it big enough to compete directly with mirrorless. Then it will be the best all purpose camea(except zoom).
Sony should try it.

Always a place for your channel as long as you keep the great skill of complaining about cameras, technology, icy trails. You're just the master at it. People who know me say I complain, but you make me feel like i'm terrible at it. I've basically wasted my life at this point.

It is a big deal that someone who has consistently been anti-Gimbal is now praising this new product and elected to only bring this one camera with him while traveling, (besides his smart phone). Battery life is good, because DJI made the risky investment of a 5 nm chip to do all the processing. They are way ahead of the competition and it is selling well. (RIP, IdolCam)
I’ve seen your channel for ages and have generally avoided it. Your approach is random, and at first I didn’t appreciate it. But after watching all of your Panasonic G9 videos, you have won me over. You make me laugh consistently, and I’m smiling throughout. You are a gifted comedian. If you tried, I bet you would be successful at standup. Have a terrific 2024 and I hope the perfect camera is released this year.

I just bought one of these because of your recommendation. I've always watched your infinite search for the perfect camera and usually can't tell much of a difference so now that you've actually landed on a good candidate (for this week or so anyway) I figure i'll take the plunge too!

Then, just as I gave up, a family came in and were disappointed and told the salesperson, can we get our money back on this so-called Creator Combo kit, is too advanced for our son, and it costs like two PlayStation five...
The salesperson I have been in touch with looking at options, look at me, and I look at them, and suddenly we have a deal and I got the whole Creator Combo kit of the Osmo Pocket 3 for 700 dollars!

That reminds me of Finnish TV YLE, we were hired to do some work there and they told us to use these bunch of Sony RX100M2's for a multi camera production, I was shocked I never seen such a small camera for a serious video prod LOL, they hooked them up to these tiny wireless HDMI broadcasters, well tiny for their day anyway it was like 2015, we had huge batteries strapped to each tripod and the gimbals.
The gimbals had two of them attached, so that one had a wide angle and one had a close up, actually really genius when you think about it because if you line it up right, you get the close and the wide in an interview of people on the street quite quickly without the need of two camera people.
I think seeing all this equipment fitting inside ONE tiny carry case was what sold me on this, I have honestly never seen a TV station use full frame or even APS-C cameras for anything serious, its always big television cameras or prosumer camcorders, YLE also did a few years ago a complete television episode on multiple smartphones broadcasting to an iPad that was used as an editor, all of this can be carried in a purse, the ease of use and acceptable results are more than enough to convince these production departments to downscale equipment size, because at home, no one cares what camera you use, as long as the audio is perfect and the image is okay, its good enough.
yes, that is very true... is crazy how much gear we carry around that 90% of those who see our content neither understand nor care at all about it when a small camera can quickly give you in many situations much better results for your content.@@SMGJohn thanks for sharing your story, times are changing this year for prosumer products I think, people will start to see through the hype of all those 2000-dollar-plus cameras and lenses and downsize as well as simplify their production, making it more efficient to get the content out, and not making their lives miserable and budget strangling during the process of making it.

they already put a micro 4/3 sensor on the mavic 3. they will definitely put it on a DJI pocket in the future. it's going to be slightly bigger but still lighter than any camera setup.

I’d be too paranoid I would damage the gimbal without the official carry case. Good video though mate.
Have to admit, there is something appealing about something this small. Even with compromises. I do all my channel work with an FX3 and 14mm GM, flying on RS3 Pro. It's the same fundamental premise but huge and expensive. It'll never fail at any task I give it but I cannot take it indoors or near crowds most of the time. This, this will go literally anywhere. And I like that.

I just got the Pocket 3. It has certainly inspired me to create more, just because of how easy it is to deploy. Yeah one can always just take out a phone. But this gives you a much more options for vlogging and content creation. My best gear purchase of 2023.

So now that the perfect camera exist, what are you gonna do with all your new free time ?
I got my Pocket 3 a few days ago. I have a white dog, so I have to set the exposure to -1 EV so he doesn’t get blown out. The camera is also over sharpened, so I have to figure out how to turn that down. Besides that, it’s just about perfect for vlogging. I also shoot in standard color, it’s good enough, and a lot of times better. On my FX30, I mainly shoot in S-Cinetone for the same reason. It’s good enough. I held off buying the Pocket 3 for a while, because everybody that got a free one, said it was the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I guess I would say the same thing to keep the freebies coming. After watching a bunch of reviews from people who actually bought one, I went ahead and got one for myself. My only complaint is that I wished it had a replaceable battery. That built in battery will eventually die for good.
There is a setting that allows you to bring down the sharpness. On the main screen (where you can see the camera image), swipe left and you should see various options color, glamour effects, etc. Find the one that says image adjustments. Click on it and then click on the custom button. You should then be taken to a screen that allows you to change the sharpness.

Just made my first vlog using the pocket 3 and erm i did have a vndxmist filter on from Freewell, purchased by myself ! It is a great camera so far i am also loving its ease of use , small , light and compact to take with you anywhere, well except underwater i guess. I do find trying to judge exposure tricky with the small screen, no histogram, and tiny variable nds ! So i am interested to see how it looks in Normal colour profile with just a mist filter , would save a lot of faff !Also just off to Ali Express!
Too much fake looking dynamic range. There is no real contrast. It's why the 1 is still better.

This cam is shaping up to be the Nirvana "Nevermind" of cameras. It'll not only get people who never envisioned themselves being "camera people" to buy a camera (and actually use it beyond the vacation trip they may have grabbed it for).
The downside: EVERYONE who buys one begins vlogging. Probably about cameras. In other words, the YT market could soon be flooded with counterfeit Casey slo-mo street crossings!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES (in slo-mo...).
A neat trick for vlogging with this camera is to point it at the scene you are talking about, or about to talk about, then hold down the joystick to engage full lock, then walk around the locked gimbal as if it was on a tripod, and it looks like you are walking into the picture. Kind of the opposite of spinning the gimbal round into selfie mode. But you have to walk into the picture anti-clockwise, and out of it again clockwise. Nobody else seems to do that trick. Maybe there's a reason for that... oh well.

It looks like something like a semi-hard glasses case (a bit larger, of course) with a belt loop would great for carrying, rather than those plastic bits?
When your face isn't in the frame, the Pocket 3's auto exposure tried to bring the white sky down to neutral gray. That's why the underexposure. Many cameras would do something similar but maybe not that extreme. Try it again with a blue sky and good light.
It's WAY over sharp. Your face is over exposed. Ive gone back to my Osmo Action 3 and A6700. Its over rated. Though useful.
My biggest concern are the small moving parts. Over time, if not used with kid gloves constantly, it seems like those little moving appendages are bound to fail. Other than that, seems like an awesome walkie-talkie kind of camera gadget

Im a fpv piolet. Bee. Flying dji for 3 yrs. From 2019 till march of 2023 it was 4k in the goggles and vtx on board. Now new goggles and vtx. We got 4k/60. I. Goggles and and on board recording. But i am a shit piolet so i just enjoy being uo with the birds. Had a hawk attack my quad once. Wasn't recording dammit!!!!! Anyway love your content been bing watching and pissing myself into learning. Thanks.now i need new shorts.
Bought one on launch day and have been loving it! I use it in my day-to-day shooting at a media agency. I’ve been mixing Pocket 3 footage with A7SIII and FX30 footage and not a single client has ever noticed. My boss just bought two for the company kit too. I would love a Pocket Pro with bigger sensor and either a proper zoom lens or lens array. I’ll still watch your channel, even though it has no reason to exist anymore.

You mentioned plugging in your mic. I was wondering if that's by choice or is it because you're not using the DJI mic 2 from the creator combo? I bought the creator combo and the DJI mic audio is just ok, I have the DJI mic one and know the best audio is when you record into the mic's internal storage but that's a pain because you have to sync the audio later when editing. Want to know if hard wiring the mic will make the DJI mic 2 audio better while keeping the audio/video synced without having to record directly to the mic. Also just wanted to let you know that you're videos have been super helpful!

Like a lot of people, I am not a camera nerd. Hence why phone camera’s are adequate for most but I think the Pocket 3 is for when a camera phone just won’t cut it.
What do you suggest as a better alternative for a studio video camera at a similar pricepoint?

8:58 ... That's the camera going into position to fit into the stock case with a filter on.. it gives you a few seconds to get the case on before it goes limp. You dont need that multicase mess.

aren't you supposed to recover shadows in post when filming in D-Log? whenever they are too dark, you need to like LIFT them? probably results in much more noise though
It's a noisy mess, and you'd have to do that every time the exposure changed.

I noticed that the Pocket 3 has a minimum focus distance of about 8 inches (20 cm). Can you shoot some close up footage of squirrels or flowers to see what kind of Toneh can be acheived? I'd like to see that. Thank you.
I don't mind a bit of wobbles with my R8 - looks more life like. But yeah, DJI nailed it!

You get that in the dentist waiting room and I understand the reasoning there - but on youtube? The topic if of interest is enough surely to keep the viewer focused on what is being shown and talked about. Am I alone in hating this?
I agree in the sense that I find many UA-cam videos have music edited in that is WAY too loud.

I am traveling in London, and my main video camera is the Pocket 2 and Pocket 1, both fit in my pocket together. I don't know what they do in there. Maybe one day I will find a little Pocket 3...
I have loved the Pocket series since the first version. I agree - the balance of size and capabilities make them the most practical camera for traveling video.

How can it be better than an action camera as you state? It's not waterproof, and it's not designed for high-action activities that involve water, snow, dirt or the risk of dropping it.

5:03 I think just like their camera drone, DJI will release the next iteration with 2 or more cameras that give you other focus length other than the boring super wide, like the one they have on Air 3. I personally think it would be better than a bigger sensor
It is difficult to find a major flaw with this little gem. Maybe exposure without a face in frame but then it was trying to reconcile snow and dark trees… not the easiest of scenarios.
