Most people who claim they don't like cats have just never had a personal encounter with one like this! They bring so much love!
This was an amazing example of how perfectly the worldwide cat distribution system works!

That was a very kind gesture of saving them sweet kittens. I am so glad that your dog discovered the kitten and you taking him home. Then when your dog saw the kitten's sibling and you bringing him home as well. That was great. I am happy to see the kittens being so happy. I hope your dog is just as happy with them as you are.

I hope the milk you are feeding him is not cow’s milk, but kitten formula. Cats are lactose intolerant and cow’s milk can cause stomach problems and diarrhea. Thank you for rescuing such a sweet kitty.💗

Ps. I’ve researched canines (wolves dogs all) over 40 years. My husband felidologist , most modern Vets have Arts and Business not Science biology degrees licensing, only 1/5 our county Vets even knew it means ‘cat(all) researcher. Even our daughter switched universities because.
Unique about cats is they can interbreed with other ‘species’ similar size.
I’m Evolutionary Biology prof. I must admit evolutionary they are kings if seeming every distinct niche they don’t compete directly with eachother for though.
Like in the Indian Sub continents, lions and tigers have always co-existed all around each other other. But one master of forests jungle, the other the plains and Savannah.
Lynx and Bobcat even bring reconsidered sane species, one dominated higher altitude etc.
Cheetahs and lions haven’t one extinct same reason.
Sooooooo another ‘cool thing’ our sons would say, in wildlife preserves and zoos we learnt what country people seem to always know.

The cat distribution system is working just fine, congratulations you have a kitty noe.
Keep them indoors. Cats don’t know the dangers outside; cars, coyotes and birds of prey. All kinds of things could hurt them. There is no worse feeling than going to the door, calling them and they never come back. They could be hurt somewhere and you’d never know what happened. Keep them safe, as well as loved.
This is true. Even if you live in the country, cats can get stuck in places that have brambles or in holes or fences. They can also enjoy hunting out there, but find that something bigger is also hunting them. Not all dogs are good like your dogs! You might teach them to get used to a harness so you can take them outside for walks. But if you let them run free without you, be ready to lose them. It is a chance you take.

I’m a cat owner to 4 it’s really hard to keep them inside. They all have different personalities but are great fun. They are all neutered all insured which is not cheap vet bills are very high here in the uk.

It's a good idea to also visit vet for a checkup & get their stools checked for any parasites. Especially since found outside, cats eat grass, bugs, weird things, drink from puddles & questionable water, & can get parasites, worms, etc., just like dogs. Can get from ticks, mosquitos, eating a fly, etc. Checking is good. Keeps them healthy. Can get from eating a flea too. If found, is easy to treat. Please take care of babies. Please fix too. 🎉 thank you for rescuing those poor kitties. Please consider keeping the cats inside cats do not need to be outside to be fulfilled. Include viewing areas by windows and toys on the floor as well as suction toys. They will find what they enjoy doing. My own rescue is 20 years old right now. He personally loves the suction toys and again thank you for rescuing these babies.

I've always been a cat person. They just make me happy. Those springs are great toys. Try giving them straws. Save money on toys. Cardboard boxes, straws, and plastic springs will entertain them for hours.

Thank you so much for rescuing these beautiful fur balls they are so cute, I have two rescues, I had three she(Babygirl)was her name she was my oldest she was 2 wks old when I rescued her unfortunately she crossed over the rainbow 🌈😞 she was 19 1/2 she died on April 9th 2024 and I miss her so much these fur babies are so loveable they are going to make your day especially when your feeling down you won't feel that cause they have a way to make you happy they'll make you forget the sad things the purring is the best sound and they do silly things that will make you laugh they sometimes clumsy but in a funny way you are going to love them always 🫶🏼🙏🏼❤️🥰

I'm sure you did this for them, but I'm going to add that, on top of vaccinations, it's very very important to get our cats spayed and neutered. If we don't, we will have more homeless kittens who might not be lucky to get adopted. Keeping our cats indoors will also keep them safe.

My kitty is a rescue I adopted and she fit in my hand too when I get her. i am physically disabled and can't take a dog for walks so my kitty is the one who keeps me company. All my sons are over 30 and have ;ives of their own and she keeps me from felling so lonely.

Had a cat for 13 years, just always remember this. They won't be your forever. But you will be theirs. That and be sure when you get em canned fish to make sure it says BONELESS. Not how he passed but did get a scare.

I am SO glad that you rescued these beautiful babies! You seem so caring & are doing all to give them a great home with toys, vet care, attention & other pets.
I am glad that you found (at least one) of Lily's siblings. I think their mother must have died. PLEASE be on the look-out in that park for other young cats about the age of Mily & Lily as there would have been more in the litter (another 2 - 3 or so.)
The other siblings may STILL be in the park - in need of a home, unless someone else has rescued them already or else they have not lived.
PLEASE rescue the rest of them if you see them. It is not much harder to take care of a few extra cats when you have some already as they share the same litter, toys, etc. (I know from personal experience - ending up with 5 rescues all-together, although rescued at different points.)
IF it IS too much to care for extras (as I know you have dogs in your animal family too), you could find them a loving, secure home afterwards as Lily & Mily have with you - (& hopefully they could visit with each other at times, but even this is not as important as finding & rescuing any of Mily & Lily's siblings who may still be trying to survive in that park.)
Anyways, I am glad that Mily & Lily have found such a good, loving, safe & secure home with you & your dogs. They DO fill your heart & give you happiness & a sense of contentment. (They also lower stress levels, for the most part [unless they have been naughty, but this is only a PASSING, short-term elevation] & actually help your own health because of all of this, so YOU get rewarded for being such a good person when you give them a good home.)
Just so you know - a few extra things that the cats (& even your dogs may) like to play with:
- shiny, silver balls you make from aluminum foil you would use [normally] for cooking. When you roll up a bit of the foil, make sure to have the SHINIEST side on the outside.
- the cardboard center of paper towel rolls when the paper towels are finished, cut into 1/3 pieces. (DON'T do this from the toilet paper rolls as this is not hygienic.)
- stuffed animal-shaped toys (about their very own size) that are soft-sided/a little flexible & of a soft fabric. Even when they have brothers & sisters & yourself & your own bedding to snuggle against, some really do like these stuffed toys.
- empty cardboard boxes that they can hop into, hide in & jump out at their brothers & sisters from (or just curl up & nap in), ESPECIALLY when they are new to them - so, for a day (or 3) - although they are ALWAYS happy to have a few permanently
- gift wrap that has just come off of presents (if it is still retaining part of the shape of a box).
(Christmas time was just as much fun for my cats, not just for their OWN gifts that were bought, BUT as the [human] family would put the opened gift wrap from their own presents in a pile on the floor, & we would watch the cats zoom into the pile, hiding & wrestling each other in the middle of it all until they wear themselves out, [which wouldn't take too long]. Not only did they love running & sliding into the pile & hiding from each other in it to wrestle, they also really liked the SOUND of the wrap when they ran into the middle of it all.)
- Warning though
- NONE of that gift wrap will be re-useable for presents afterwards, but to give your cats such a gift as this pile of wrapping to play in for a short while IS a gift for them & worth much more in pleasure for them (& for you WATCHING them), then the value of re-using the wrap simply to wrap up new presents in
2 more tips (as it appears that you are a new cat owner):
- WHEN CATS ARE ILL, they will often try to hide that fact
- CLUES (ANY of the following COULD be a sign of illness to be watched & then taken to a vet quickly if they don't improve):
- the cat will get quieter than normal. If this happens for a few days straight, they will need a vet (unless they are in grief over the loss of some thing or a family member)
- they are spending a LONG period of time in hiding. (Not just the normal short nap in the back of a closet or new box, but for an extended period of time.)
**** they go to the bathroom OUTSIDE of their litter box!
- IF you haven't just changed the type of LITTER you are using (to one they don't like)
- IF you haven't changed the TYPE of litter BOX you are using ie. to one TOO enclosed for their liking, trapping in smells & dust while they are inside of it (sometimes a pet can have asthma/lung issues too)
OR to an automated cleaning one (that they may be afraid of)
OR to one too tall for them (if they are still small OR have a leg injury - [that you are dealing with] OR because they are NOW OLDER with arthritis in their joints, making it harder to get INTO & OUT OF a tall litter box)
***(SMART TIP - is to ALWAYS keep the more shallow box you had for them as kittens as a back-up & to help with any of these issues if they happen)
- IF they don't have a new family member KEEPING THEM FROM the litter box (& this CAN happen as a new cat can SOMETIMES become territorial over it & keep others away, in which case you need a 2nd litter box in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT location that CANNOT be blocked at the same time as the other box & is a bit private, so the other cat doesn't see them in it & attack them there)
*****IF NONE of these things have happened (& to be on the safe side, even if they have, as more than 1 thing can happen at once in life at times)
- take your cat to the vet RIGHT AWAY!! - it is OFTEN a BIG sign of a SERIOUS health issue! Once the health issue is more stable, your pet will return to using the litter box (until the issue gets out of hand again)
One MORE TIP - BEST TYPE of litter to use:
- the BEST type of litter to use (if you can get it where you are) is made of pellets of newsprint (or other paper)
- problem with "REGULAR" gravel litter
- can be a bit sharp/rough on the soft pads of their feet, which is unpleasant for them BUT worse, can lead to little cuts at times (that can even get infected while they are walking in that dirty environment)
- can be dusty (& if your cat has lung issues it could be a health problem for them)
- is a dirty environment for them to continue to use until you empty it all (as this type needs a FULL change as it does not clump)
- makes a smellier home as it doesn't absorb smells very well
- problem with CLUMPING litters
- it can clump in bits that cling in between their paw pads - which they then lick clean & swallow, leading to unhygienic bits being swallowed AND can cause a blockage INSIDE their bodies in time
Reasons WHY newsprint (paper) pellets are THE BEST litter:
- they DON'T cling/clump in between your cat's paw pads, so there would be very little they would lick & IF they do lick some of it off, it is NOT going to clump inside of their little bodies
- it DOESN'T produce any dust (that is bad for a cat with lung issues) & bad since it releases smells into the house
- it DOES (SORT OF) clump (if you are careful handling it) - so that you can regularly scoop out the clumped parts a few/number of times a day
- this is (a bit) faster & easier (& cheaper) than changing the whole litter in the box (which you AREN'T going to do a number of times every day)
- it STAYS CLEANER, since you would then scoop it a few times a day (instead of leaving it dirty for a week or even just a full day)
- MORE HYGIENIC since you would be scooping it at least a few times per day
- it is EXCELLENT in ABSORBING SMELLS! I was REALLY surprised at this when I first used it with my cats. Even with 5 cats there was NEVER ANY ODOUR in the house!
- the rolled pellets are NOT going to hurt the paw pads of your cats (or cause them any cuts - in the least hygienic of all places to GET cuts!)
***DO make sure to COMPLETELY get rid of the remaining old (newsprint) pellet litter when it gets low in the litter box after all of your scooping (don't just add new on top)
- over time it WILL get dirty too from all the dirty parts that can't get fully scooped up (as it ISN'T a FULLY scoopable litter), so if you just put new litter on top, you are going to create a bad/more unhealthy environment for your cats
All of these tips are just things I have learned over many, MANY years of having a LOT of cats as part of my family. I hope that this information will be of some use to you (& anyone else out there who has/gets cats) & decides to read this. I love them all & want all cats out there to have a good life, as it seems yours are having right now with you.

Word of caution--I wouldn't allow them to play with objects like floss picks if I wasn't there. Had a digestive scare with my Mango (3yo) recently, and the vet shared with me sometimes young cats eat stuff they shouldn't; get sick;.and sometimes need surgery to remove the object

I just made a comment on a sad video earlier of a dog in a busy area screaming in pain for HOURS, while people just passed by. I could see the confusion in the dog’s eyes. That’s when it occurred to me how confusing it must be for dogs to observe humans display such apathy toward them.
Dog’s recognize when a person or animal is vulnerable and in need of help and innately seem to know how to nurture.
These poor kitten movies are very popular on UA-cam. My guess is that most of them are premeditated.
But they all activate our empathy, which is good.
It seems like simply doing the right thing these days is considered heroic or exceptional behaviour. How sad is that! 😢. You saved a life. As well you should!
