The Black Hills are one of my all time favorite vacation spots! Dead Wood, Keystone, Mount Rushmore, and the scenic byways around the Custer area, wind cave included are totally awesome. Defiantly worth the time to visit this beautiful part of America! Thanks Chris for sharing and as always Godspeed!
Another great video filled with so much great content. I can always tell, just by what you’re eating in camp, when you’re hanging with Shannon and when you’re solo! She’s a great influence. LOL! Have a great time with your son!
Thanks for the very nicely filmed and edited video(s). I've never been to S.D., but this area looks beautiful. And thanks for the tip regarding the simple-and-sensible walkie talkie.
The Black Hills are beautiful, thanks for taking us along. I haven’t been there in over 20 years, it was cool to see it again! Wishing you an awesome visit with Cole, hoping he has a great first year in college!
Glad to hear you're going to meet w/ your son & hope you get to explore wonderful, unforgettable places! I'm blessed to have my sons and their families near by and we go overlanding/trail riding often.
I have always wanted to visit Black Hills. This has pushed that idea even further as always inspired by your adventures. Cant't wait to head out there with our Jeep.
Both my parents grew up on homesteads in the Black Hills in the early 1900s. The Wilson ranch where my mother grew up on top of the Limestone has been fully restored and is lived in by an elderly couple. I grew up in Newcastle and spent my childhood in those beautiful mysterious hills.
Enjoy your time with your son. My daughter just graduated from high school and we are heading to Colorado for a 2 week 4 WD adventure on some of the great mountain passes there.
Wow! You just moved Custer State Park higher up on my bucket list. Gorgeous area! The helicopter ride was cool reminding me of my two jobs working for helicopter companies, one was touring and the other was industrial. I miss it. I was medical support on many chopper missions in the military. I'll have to remember to eat early in Custer. I just threw away my set of Motorola two-way radios after 12 years of use; will look into the Rocky Talkie radios. Thanks for sharing. Have a great time with your son.
Hey Chris, your videos are addictive. Didn’t pay attention that their would be no videos for couple weeks but if is for such a good reason, we totally understand!! Would do the same for my daughter. Have a good time and come back rested and happy 😃
I was in Custer on the 4th of July. Wish I could have ran into you. I have lived here in the Black Hills area now for the last 3 years. Enjoy your time with your son.
My first trip to that area was in 1990 coming north from Scottsbluff NE and took a gravel road of the main highway up to the Crazy Horse Monument. If you have the time I would recommend checking out the visitor center there for some sculpted items by the original artist, especially an eagle that was around 3-4 feet tall if I remember correctly.
We did a family trip out there a couple years ago... Our two week trip included - Jackson Hole, Grand Teton Nat Park, Yellowstone Nat Park, Mount Rushmore, Shoshone Nat Park, Custer State Park, etc.. It was amazing... If you get a chance go to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, WY. We did that on a rest day. It didn't disappoint...
Western South Dakota is amazing. Hiked to Harney Peak when we were there about 12 years ago. The lake at the trail head was used in National Treasure 2. Great to hear you're spending time with Cole. Enjoy. Safe Travels and God Bless! PS- When did the Jeep get Texas plates?
The oem jeep led headlights haven’t given me a single issue in three years! With all the trouble you’ve had over the last couple years with the leds you have I think that oem is a great decision.
While I am an avid watcher and don't want to wait until 7/31 for the next video, I'm happy for you that you get to spend some time with your son. Enjoy him. You never know what the future holds.
Those extra 5 -10 min! But now I got to wait 2 weeks! By far the coolest rock formations I've seen! Enjoy your time with your son! We will desperately be waiting for the 31st!👍
I have factory JK halogen headlights and bought Hikari H13 LED bulbs from amazon and am very satisfied. No anti flicker needed. Light output way better than stock.
Hopefully you got the chance to eat at Black Hills Burger and Bun Co. That place is incredible. Right down the street from the Mexican restaurant you were at. Great video as always!
HAM tech license is easy, several places offer it online, you can get cheap radios, and use repeaters. I don't understand the aversion/fear of HAM by most people. It's easy, it's superior, it can be inexpensive.
Chris, If youre still in the Black Hills, specifically in Custer, Black Hills burger and bun is mighty good eating. Lewies outside Deadwood is also mighty good but the waits for both can be long. Loving the channel, When you next hit southern Colorado think about the Saguache area, lots of good stuff around there
I had those same Trucklites on my H1 and I was similarly unimpressed with their light output. They also froze up on me a couple times. I was going to move to VisionX's on my rig. Also we need to get you a ratchet "extension" pipe and an electric chainsaw.
Another good video just something you might want to look into next time you're in a big city that has a big hardware store go in and ask him for a piece of inch and a quarter by 2 ft black pipe come in handy to put over your wrenches Tire irons whatever you have instead of banging with your feet you're going to hurt yourself which I thought you did. Other than that you have a good vacation with your son cherish the moments they don't last long. 👍👍😀🇨🇦
Buy JW speaker headlights you’ll be more than happy with them and they are super bright. You definitely don’t want factory Jeep headlights if you want to see where your going lol.
So I see a Texas plate where the Pennsylvania plate used to be. Seems we have gone from a northerner to a southerner or in your case a wherevererner. Be safe.
I got the Jeep factory LED package on my JLUR and that is the brightest lighting I've had on any of my trucks before. You get the cool Halo lighting for daytime driving lights. Here in the south it is heavily forested with trees and brush and the stock factory LED on the JL is enough light to see, don't need those expensive KC light bars that a lot of youtubers get for showing off.
Beautiful scenery… An unfortunate side effects of the more popular areas is more people, but there are also more Mexican restaurants 🌮🌮🌮 Glad you and Cole will be spending some time together… Safe travels
I used to work on helicopters in the Air Force but have never flown in one. After seeing how they're built I had no real desire to do so. Ever wonder why there are no vintage helicopter fly ins?
FRS is good for some things. But GMRS is catching on more with off roaders and overlanders and you have better range. Yes you have to have a lic. But it's now $35 for 10 years and it's good for the hole family. Thanks for another great video.
Chris, you’re the Bob Ross of this UA-cam off-road adventures . You make it look too easy .
Bob Ross is my neighbour. He knows nothing about this. 😷🦘
@@grahameroberts8109 ??? lol
Tim, spit my coffee out reading this 🤣. Chris even sounds like Bob Ross. So true.
Greetings to you Chris! Awesome episode...as always! I hope you have a great time hanging out with Cole, i´m sure you will.

You ygug
Love the Black Hills!
Hand held 2ways are a great tool. Here in Australia 5 watt is the max without a licence and I think that’s universal.
Keep the vids coming.
Great video enjoy all the quality time you can congratulations to your son on his graduation as always be safe 👍👍👍
Glad to hear you're going to meet w/ your son & hope you get to explore wonderful, unforgettable places! I'm blessed to have my sons and their families near by and we go overlanding/trail riding often.

Great video in a great location. The helicopter tour was a fun diversion. Enjoy your break with your son. See you when you return.
Add a short length of pipe to your toolbox for added leverage on ratchets and whatnot
We have been out here all week as well, been looking for You and Orangey, around every bend! So beautiful out here…. Stay safe!
Keep on trucking and feed the soul watching adventure videos on UA-cam!
Loved the Black Hills and the beautiful scenery! Love all your videos.
Have a great day!
As always Chris, great vlog! Looking forward to next one.

Really enjoyed this episode.
Just out there and Wyoming, that place was awesome

It’s always a great time in South Dakota
Gosh I love that area
See you in a few weeks
I was wondering if adventure was afoot then you reassured me that it was 👍
Have awesome time with your son👍👍✌💪
Enjoy your son, Cole. Can’t believe he’s heading to college. Time flies and I’m only a viewer.
Thank you, this place is now on my list. Very cool.

I loved our trip in that area a few years ago.the smell of the black pines was super.they need to bottle that
I also have two Rocky Talkies and love ‘em for use between two vehicles.
Thanks for sharing Cris enjoy your father-son time. Your friend in Pennsylvania. Bob
Yay! Happy for Cole and you, too! I enjoy your time w him! SD looks wonderful! 🥾🥾💕
Like what ya do, Lov how you do it!! Great work
I like that you show how to close gates!!! here in MT apparently we need the demo :)
Good stuff! Have an awesome well deserved time with Cole 👍🏻

Have fun with the kid. Good video. 😎👍🏻
Trust you and your son will enjoy some fun bonding time.

What an awesome video!
Meghan and Me sat at that exact table at the Mexican restuarant! We were defenitly eying that helicopter place.
I could hear u in Tulsa on that little radio.
I have factory JK halogen headlights and bought Hikari H13 LED bulbs from amazon and am very satisfied. No anti flicker needed. Light output way better than stock.
Thank you Chris
Great video thank you!
Have a good time with your son!
Hi, lately your video content is a bit lack of adventure like it used to be but keep it up. I will wait for your next video.
One more thing, I miss the scene where you prepare your meals and morning breakfast
And Shannon still remains a mystery lol
My wife and I met Shannon last week in Silverton, Colorado when we ran into them driving up Kendall Mountain.
Enjoy your time with your son. We'll look forward to more videos when you are able to resume.
Hey Chris, have fun with your son.
Enjoy your special time with Cole🤗 check with ya later!
Very fulfilling lunch??? That was something Kathy Bates would feed you to incapacitate you before the Horror starts…lol🇨🇦😂
looks like a nice place
wow those rocks
Hope you remembered to pickup that ‘tossed’ rockie. Lol
Have fun with your son Chris! See you in two weeks!
Hey Chris you sure had a big grin on your face in that chopper. Lol
Hopefully you got the chance to eat at Black Hills Burger and Bun Co. That place is incredible. Right down the street from the Mexican restaurant you were at. Great video as always!
I saw you in Custer a few days ago.

I just got back from a trip in the mountains. Catching up on your vids, and this made me sad to be back. 😢

Loving the channel, When you next hit southern Colorado think about the Saguache area, lots of good stuff around there
Man, we just got back from there. The local Land Cruiser club showed us all the tracks. Glad you enjoyed it. Such a beautiful place.
Good times!
You showed unfathomable restraint not letting out a stream of expletives after busting your toe on the wrench! Chocos for the win!
If he needed that much torque to get those bolts tight, I suspect there is a bigger issue.
Save us a spot, we're heading to the Custer area next week. 😄
Enjoy your time with your son see you in a few weeks

Wow, headed there in a month with my jeep from Ohio. Cool
Buy JW speaker headlights you’ll be more than happy with them and they are super bright. You definitely don’t want factory Jeep headlights if you want to see where your going lol.
Chris! You're back. Let me know if you want to hit any trails! I'd love to go out!
Hugh, no pizza this episode! That's a bummer. Have a great time with your son...
Yay!
So I see a Texas plate where the Pennsylvania plate used to be. Seems we have gone from a northerner to a southerner or in your case a wherevererner. Be safe.
I'm new to this channel and noticed that Texas plate, immediately thinking Chris is too "normal" to be a Texan. Pennsylvania - that explains it.
This was covered in one of his previous videos...I think about three or four weeks ago.
@@chipthomasphotos I missed that one and had the same question, When did the Texas plate show up?
@@chuckzechman7390 it happened when they went to Texas. I think V12E20. He does talk about at some point, just can’t remember when.
Should always bring water on a hike, in case something unexpected occurs.

Lady Bugs were quite a sight
Hey Chris, I just met up with you outside Denver. For your reference it’s Zapata Falls and Médano pass. Have fun!
Beautiful scenery…
An unfortunate side effects of the more popular areas is more people, but there are also more Mexican restaurants 🌮🌮🌮
Glad you and Cole will be spending some time together…
Safe travels

GMRS you are supposed to have a license but FRS does not require one. Glad that FRS is working well for you.
Yes!!!!!!! Love it!!!
It isn’t a Saturday night without Chris
Cole comes first. These times wont come again. See you soon Chris.
FRS is good for some things. But GMRS is catching on more with off roaders and overlanders and you have better range. Yes you have to have a lic. But it's now $35 for 10 years and it's good for the hole family. Thanks for another great video.
Have a great time with you son
First time I've noticed Texas tags on orangee
