Just a piece of advice: this is not a choke. The idea is to make your opponent tap to the pain in his collarbone, not because he is going unconscious. Many players wont tap to this one, but the position (invisible collar) allows transitions to armbars and omoplatas, and even triangles.
Joseph Frampton JOSEPH: You're correct in that it is a choke (and also crushes your collarbone)... But what Johnathan is saying is correct. From this position you can also work setups for gogoplatas, locoplatas, or the jellyfish, in which you tuck their arm back in and set up an awesome armbar.
You have to land it right. its hard to get the your arm and there shoulder in the perfect place for the choke to work. but it does work, ive my buddy to sleep like this when rolling. he didnt think i had the choke and neither did i till he started drooling.
Love the way you guys put together your videos. This submission has been around for quite sometime. I have seen it attempted several times, but does anyone have a match or video recommendation where it was landed at a professional (or high) level.
you clearly dont watch mma if you dont know who is shinya aoki. World best lightweight submission artist. he performed a flying armbar on the great Fedor. now who are you not calling professional or expert?
ken This is called a fluff technique. You need to take your "Professional Fighters and Grapplers" off a pedestal and realize they like to show off once in awhile. It is fun to show flashy thing that isn't that practical.
Yes it is possible that why you have to squeeze everything very tight , there is a technique called the double bagger that allows you to transition without the risk of your opponent pulling out
It is possible; that is why I use the Double Bag technique where I hold my right foot with my left hand on the middle of the back of the person and then move to the invisible collar position.

What If they push down on your left leg to pass guard?
I'd counter that so easy.
By bribing him with snacks otherwise I'm taking a nap.
Where's the double bag! He will slip out
anybody know what happened to his voice?
hes from japan.
It's the audio.
someone put a bottle brush down his throat
What about the zombie?
I don't understand what is cutting off his left carotid?
his own left arm
Can't he escape once you take your right arm away (like at 0:47)?
