It's a phenomenon called ringing. The two surfaces are so flat that there is a molecular interaction that occurs which causes them to essentially bond together.

Those are called finger cots. 10 for a buck delivered on Ebay. The possibilities for fun are endless. Leave one on the counter/sink in the restroom of a high class restaurant, show your date you have come prepared with protection for later in the evening as an ice breaker, or a deal breaker if she has no sense of humor, slip one into your father's/son's/uncle's wallet then ask if they have a dollar to compare to yours, the possibilities are truly endless.
