Shohei Ohtani Sets MLB Record + Tyler Glasnow Shines as Los Angeles Dodgers Salvage Series vs. Mets

- The Dodgers lost the series to the Mets over the weekend but at least they got a blowout win on Sunday. Shohei Ohtani passed Hideki Matsui for most home runs by a Japanese-born player in MLB, and maybe revealed that he had been pressing a bit to get that home run. He can now focus on being his best for the Dodgers. Tyler Glasnow shoved on Sunday, going eight shutout innings with 10 strikeouts. More starting pitching like that can go a long way to helping this team in a variety of ways. Lastly, the offense has been bad with runners in scoring position, specifically when it comes to making contact. Can that change?

A lot has gone one for Shohei the past year: He got got Tommy John surgery, he got a new dog, he got married, he signed a $700 million contract, he was embroiled in Ippei's gambling shenanigans, and of course he's on a new team. And with all those things happening, he's leading the league in BA and total bases and is near the top in OPS. Maybe we have too much expectations on the guy. Anyone else in the world putting up those kinds of numbers, we would be saying how great he is. But instead, people are worried about his hitting average with RISP.
His world series documentary is gonna be fire 🔥🔥🔥
Ohtani is first in batting avg, first in hits, 2nd in Ops and we are so focused on his RISP stats we probably forgot that this guy is a pitcher.
Dude is going to hall of fame with a dodger hat 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Because hitting with risp is important
@@jorgevillagomez5908he's big risp guy, his average 0.300+ in his previous seasons and best at high leverage situation. Just check his records. Its still early. It will getting better.
As fan of him for long time, April is not even a best month for him usually, and he already better than most season before.
@@jorgevillagomez5908 crying about RISP with 19 at bats, especially when the "outs" were hard luck outs due to BABIP gods, 🤣
@@Nadine-sb3gh You're trying to reason with casuals, lmfao
As for RISP, it’s still April and it’s not like he cannot hit in RISP😅 He also has 1.5 WAR only DH..(still April)
Ohtani: RISP
(2023) AVG .317 / OPS 1.078
(2022) AVG .314 / OPS 1.213
(2021) AVG .284 / OPS 1.165
"The fact is, he's second in the league in OPS right now. ... Ohtani has been hitting really, really well. Ever since he broke out with that first home run at Dodger Stadium, he has been maybe the best hitter in baseball since then, and adding some more power will make that even better. ... I wouldn't be surprised if, a month from now, his overall numbers with runners in scoring position are very good, because he's been good with runners in scoring position throughout his career and he's a very good hitter."
Those are actual words I said in this very episode. I feel like you're seeing negativity where it doesn't exist.
Cmon guys. Don’t keep on the false narrative. Some fans hating on Ohtani wRISP. Bro, Maybe so but really everyone is struggling RISP…..FACTS: Ohtani leads MLB in BA, XBH, Hits, doubles and top 2 in OPS, WRc-+, SLG, OPB and top 10 in HRs, RBIs, every MLB offensive categories. What the heck do you want more from Ohtani. SMH.
Actually, he is only top 20 in HRs and top 40 in RBIs, but it's still early. Most likely he will move up.
I don't think we mentioned the RISP thing except in passing to point out that he got a couple hits with RISP this weekend, did we?
Godzilla Matsui did his best at post-seasons.
I hope Dodgers goes to World Series this season and Ohtani performs far better.
Leading the entire MLB in batting average and total bases. And it feels like he hasn't really hit his stride, yet.
Sunday was amazing for Dodgers fans. We really needed that after the way the Dodgers lost on Friday and Saturday. We got great pitching from Glasnow and superb hitting from the entire team!
People are so quick to criticize Ohtani for a small sample of games. He will hits risp better as he did in previos seasons before. Just two weeks ago people worry about his stats and slump and trust me he will prove people wrong like usual.
Congrats, Shohei.
I noticed Freeman’s good day on Sunday upped his BA to 287 so things are looking positive for the big three at the top of the order
Aaron Judge is hitting around .200 BA, so anyone can go into a slump. It's baseball. But Shohei still starting the season off very good.
Othani and Freddy are coming out of slumps. Freddy corrected his swing problem. Pages makes a big difference with his glove and bat.
Huge bounce back win for the Dodgers, needed that one badly, 10-0 shutout, despite the loss series, we need to be on a roll, long winning streak, we lost our last 3 series out of 4 overall, we need to get over this hump and be strong. But our pitching has to be addressed, even though Tyler yesterday was awesome with 10 strikeouts, now we on a long road trip, hopefully we can get many series wins, and get out of this 1 or 2 games over .500 record, make our record elite.
For your info..It’s not like Ohtani hasn’t been ever in “Big Moments” since High School.
He has several prizes and awards from NPB, Including JAPAN SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP 2016, where he hit and pitched. It’s not like he hasn’t been in High Stakes tournaments.
He DID have a career before coming to the Dodgers. It’s a bit unfair to make it sound like he has no experience in any big moments.😅
Between two continents he has the most prize collection from both sides of the Ocean, already. (He has MVP in Japan AND 2x UNANIMOUS MVP in the US and MVP in International Tournament WBC) prizes in Both Pitching and Hitting!!!😂
Now he is chasing the WS Ring in MLB.
HE IS TICKING THE BOXES. ✅
It pobbly couldn't hurt if what's his name on the left of the screen knew the players names other than Ohtani, Freeman and mookie
I promise you I know the Dodgers better than you do, but have a great night and thanks for watching!
We must be living in the unrealistic baseball-verse that everyone is saying, “Ohtani is doing good but yet to be his best””He’s not fully recovered yet” or even “Shohei is struggling this year”, when, objectively, Ohtani is passable even to the triple crown at the moment.
His power numbers are down a little bit. That was the point. He's hitting very well, and he might hit even better as the power numbers tick up.
At least Major US TV Networks, Podcasts, MLB, BBC, ESPN, losangels channel 4 are Non-stop giving praise and honoring Shohei Ohtani 's Total number of Homerer176 in US major league baseball career .
What kind of planet you Two's are in this universe anyway..?? Lol 🤣
I mean, it was the lead story on our podcast. The one you're commenting on.
I would have given that ball to Shohei
How does MLB authenticate a home run ball? How do they know before-hand that Ohtani would hit a home run?
They have specially marked balls that they put into play whenever Ohtani came up to bat. That way, when the home run was hit, they could check the ball the fan claims is the home run ball and make sure it has the marking.
We would be doing a lot better if Outman, Lux and CT haven’t been 0-for the season. Muncy and Hernandez are what they are…streaky…sadly , CT could be washed after being a contributor for so many years
History for boss man in blue 🗣️🗣️🗣️ Sex god 8 clean innings 🕺🕺🕺 Bottom of the lineup defeating allegations 😤😤😤
ippei motors??
That’s what I heard too😂
Actually, for me, it was the other way around. A long, long time ago (i.e. a month ago…) when E-Bay was more well known than Ippei. ("Why are they talking about Ohtani and E-Bay?)
Yeah, Right Lol 🤣🤣🤣 don't know How your appreciate and show respect to Shohei Ohtani then
You two should be fired 😊
Thanks for watching!
Wow, all the negativity towards Ohtani. This is what happens when one of the hosts is an Ohtani hater.
So negative!
