@@rovr i saw an advert on teletext (!) It said, 'has having a car changed your life?' . I replied emphatically yes. The producer came to see me with a camcorder and filmed me and a friend, and when i was asked to be in the show my friend bottled out.
Loved this episode, i'd just got my license so could relate to the sense of freedom we suddenly had and coincidentally at the time I used to cruise around listening to the odd bit of "capella" too.
Felt sorry for James. Even though from a wealthy family it shows that money can't buy everything (It does help now and again) All he wanted was a "Family Home" something that most of us took for granted. Hope he managed to find one of his own :)
I saw this programme when it was first shown back in 1994 thank you to the person who has this on a videotape (for the younger generation we used to record programmes on tape on a machine called a video cassette recorder you could record programmes when you where out eventually the tape would wear out the sound would go and the picture and you would throw the tape in the bin) however this one is in exceptionally good condition n a cupboard somewhere and thought I know I will put this on you tube.
Thank you so much for posting these. Another example of the BBC not putting a classic programme on the iplayer. Brings back so many memories, especially the Bradford bit.
Beetle boy has a great attitude doesn’t he! Wonder if the bald guy in his late 40s now looks back at this and cringes about his comments about his family. Stark contrast to metro boy who did all he could for his family. His spot cream though 🤣
Victoria, where are you now? Sending my love to you..... That white mk3 escort Rs hossin’ it around the BK carpark though!!! Bet whoever owned it wished they still had it now… reckon it had a Peco exhaust on!!! Passed my test in 1993 at age 17, never really majorly got into this scene but remember going up the golden mile- great Yarmouth seafront and cruising around with a couple of friends. Remember a guy with a black mk3 Astra GTE 16 V with a massive Alpine ice install et cetera, was so jealous, those were the days…
I am married, children, with a beat up old estate car.....ok not beat up old estate car, a nice BMW. None of my children can drive yet, despite 3 of them being over 17! Unimaginable to my teenage self.
@@victoriacullen3792 Please accept my apologies if my comment offended you Victoria. It wasn't my intention, I just felt they came across as being unfairly controlling & condescending towards you, but I probably shouldn't have commented in that way. To be honest, I never thought you'd be watching or reading the comments. That's the trouble with UA-cam, it's easy to forget that you are watching real people with real feelings. I'm sorry. By the way, what came after the XR2, and what car(s) do you drive today? Do you still have the same passion for driving you had in the A-B video?
@@matthewgodwin3050 hey it's ok! The programme was edited in such a way to fit the agenda, which was to show the different generations and their attitudes. I was filmed performing unnatural reactions during the day when in fact who goes cruising the streets in daylight! And yes, my parents were controlling, which is why the car gave me my freedom. I still love cars, always will. Married, tick, children, tick, beat up old estate car? Never!!!
Craig went on to do extremely well for himself. He's on LinkedIn and he has got a hell of a career history. He definitely put in the work and I reckon he achieved.
I sold my XR2 but now i have a TR7.
Welcome to the channel!
How did you manage to get on the programme?

Whatever happened to Craig that had the R5 GTT?

boy that lad with the VW beetle could moan, nothing was his fault
Complaining about housework when he doesn't have a job. Little prat.
Love the view of the car's dashboard with all the cassette tapes stacked alongside each other at 42:26
I crashed my car and didn't think I'd have to pay the loan off 🤦♂️
Why would you think that?
“The whole of the inside of the engine had scrunkled up. I hadn’t put any oil in in.” Bravo! J’adore la chick de la 2CV.
90s was best

How are you doing Victoria?
FFS Jason Donovan... its all your fault.
The young woman in the XR2 has my sympathy, her parents are ghastly.
Ouch! My parents are nothing of the sort. Although, as a teenager i may have agreed with you.

What happened to Craig with the Renault 5 GTT any ideas? x
I wonder what ever happened to the ex car thief....
2CV girl is cute. :)

@@getoveryourself3510 where can I find this?
All Actors.
My thoughts as well. I think it was based on real interviews enacted by actors. I really liked the series though
What in the shit is this?
