9:35 As a genshin player, I am indeed stuck. I used birthday money once cause I wanted one character and now that I’ve spent money on the game I feel like I wasted that money if I stop playing
Ah yes the sunk-cost fallacy. I’ve felt it before in Genshin as well, I spent $150 on Ayato because I wanted to have a single water unit outside of Barbara, and at that point in time it was during Itto’s first rerun, and I had been unlucky enough to never get the 4* water dps/healer from Liyue (I’m forgetting his name), and I had been playing since version 1.0/1.1 (like 2 weeks after the game started and Venti was the first banner character). Honestly I’m glad I’m gone from Genshin, and while I still play the other Hoyoverse games, i realized that it’s simply not worth the effort to put time into that game.
Hey, gotta count in terms of money spent/ time with the character. If you spent more than like 30 hours with the character, you've probably spent as much time with it as you would have most 15€ games, so as soon as you hit that you can allow yourself to drop it without feeling bad. I'm not paying shit on gacha but it's how I'd rationalize it.
Because the Act 4 elite doesn't check whether you have orbs, it checks whether you have orb SLOTS. Prismatic shard is enough to confuse them. This is why it is a legitimate strategy to buy prismatic shard in the Act 4 shop as characters other than the defect: it gives you a 1/3 chance of the debuff being completely irrelevant to you.
Yo take your time. "Flying down" wherever that is, sounds like more than a few days' trip. Take care. Time is, ultimately, finite and you gotta spend what you get well.
10:08 I’d disagree that this is an inconsistency. While Scry does “move” cards to the “discard pile” it does not “discard” them. Its the same thing like when you play a card, it is “moved” to the “discard pile” but not “discarded.”
there does exist a mod that makes it that scry triggers discard effects. Tho I'm aware not everybody is into using mods to make small specific changes like this one.
Someone is gonna be not paying attention and just vibing to the Undertale intro music and then screech into the void when inevitably Frost doesn't do a daily upload video.
26:48 Feed is worth taking because Well-Laid plans would make Feed occasionally possible ... and Feed is just a decent attack card that also triggers your Feel No Pain 🍖
I will say that I think the reason NSFW streamers are so popular is due to the increase in sort of Sexualization and objectification in people, along with the sigmatization of porn. It's the dichotomy of either being a "Gooner" or a "Puritan" where you can't be into nsfw content unless you're a "Gooner". With those types of streamers I guess you can have the plausible deniability of being on Twitch. It could also be the fact that there isn't really a good platform for NSFW streams that aren't well known or ENTIRELY porn.
People be like "Oh no, Genshin Impact is sooooo predarory because of microtransactions..." and then turn around and spend $250 for the newest League of Legends FOMO gacha skin Seriously, while Genshin's monetization model isn't exactly the best, it's still miles ahead of almost any western "gacha" game. Even some of the most predatory eastern gacha games I've seen don't hold a candle to utter dogshit like Diablo Immortal, Monopoly GO, or War Robots, since at least the people who play eastern gacha games seem to have standards and are willing to stop paying when developers' greed goes too far Edit: As for the Tectone stuff... I never watched him, since I think that 98% of gacha youtubers are unwatchable slop, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk positively about him. Last time I heard about him, he was shilling WuWa as the "epic genshin killer", and people subsequently clowning on him when WuWa turned out to be an undercooked, underperforming bug-riddled mess that only appealed to people who wanted to play Genshin but didn't want to be seen playing Genshin. Every community he's ever been a part of seems to hate him, and I don't think he even wants to be associated with Genshin, so I think it's best to just let him rot with whatever else he's doing, alone and unloved As for the "noone shits on the game more than the community" thing is concerned... no idea where that came from. From what I've personally seen, the community is fairly happy with what we have, and you mostly see people just asking for more QoL/repeatable content (which we do get a good amount of). The game is definitely fun even without paying, so idk what that part is about
As an avid Genshin player, but also a consumer of a lot of gacha games, people have no fucking idea how truly bad it is out there. Genshin is the GOLD standard for operating a Gacha (with the one exception that their rerun schedule is FUCKED now). All gachas are predatory, no doubt, but Genshin does not deserve anywhere near the hate it gets when something like League gets praised for all of its skin, or how much people jerk off over the cross over skins in Fortnite.
As that one jerk who has been around since before Andiragate, I am legitimately disappointed at people decrying Fortnite's monetization while praising an even more predatory system that Fortnite (and by extension, Epic Games) was trying to copy until that one lawsuit. All gacha is predatory, Battle Passes are psychological traps to keep you playing the games REGARDLESS of how it's implemented, and a comparison of gacha games even WITHIN their country of origins would show you that mihoyo are the worst of their kind... IN ITS COUNTRY OF ORIGIN. Awful rates (0.6% for SSRs when the JP standard is 1% MINIMUMS), more stingy with "gifts" than even HSR (and even then, they're not that generous, even current FGO learnt from that one time). This is coming from a gacha player who plays a lot of gacha games. There were worse forms of monetization out there when it comes to gacha and GaaS. And we should be thankful that compgatcha and pay to earn are dead and buried. PS: Tectone is trash. Ever since before Arknights.
@@DrmChsr0 While I haven't been around for Monkeygate, I've still been playing gachas for a good time longer than the people who haven't even heard of the term before Genshin. Some of your points are pretty fair, but kinda miss the full picture Yes, all gacha is predatory, and all battle passes are predatory as well. That being said, Fortnite is pretty much the best of the worst when it comes to monetization. It's sad that it has come to the point where that's something that has to be praised, but I'll still take Fortnite's battle passes over... whatever the fuck Riot Games are cooking over there As for gacha stuff... first of all, saying "country of origin" is kinda wack when you're talking about the JP scene and compare a CN game to it. Minor thing, but i still felt like pointing it out Yes, Genshin's rates are trash compared to most gacha games. That being said, I'll still gladly take Genshin's system of "shit rates, good pity" over the abyss of FGO. That 1.5% seems generous until you have to go to the full 300. And gifts are nice to get, but they don't fix the lack of a pity system or in HSR's case, 2 SSRs per patch and powercreep that's incomparable to Genshin. And I'm not even talking about other tricks that a lot of other gachas use to keep you pulling, like games where you need 2 copies of an SSR minimum for them to start beating f2p units. Or how about games that only have a 25% chance that the SSR you pull is the rateup one? Genshin's gacha is basically inoffensive when it comes to the wider gacha community. It has a good amount of stuff to shit on, sure, but I'd still rather put another 3k hours into it than touch anything made by western devs resembling a gacha game
Tectone basically completely hates genshin nowadays, and it's been that way for a pretty long time, and most of the genshin community also hates him. I play genshin and it's completely playable and fun without paying anything, and there is no paywall either as most progress comes from grinding, which while not good, isn't really sped up by paying. Idk, it's probably a bit my bias towards the world, lore and music of the game
People get too riled up about Genshin shouting "microtransactions bad! gatcha bad!". Every time I see those comments I just think "these people have never played an actually predatory gatcha game". Genshin is so ridiculously tame and fair compared to most of the gatcha market. I've spent no more on Genshin than on a regular console game since launch and I've gotten more content out of it than 90% of game titles I've played. I understand that many people don't like microtransactions or gatcha, but I feel Genshin gets shit on more than is fair simply due to how popular it is. The fact that people villainize Genshin but give League of Legends a pass is the height of hypocrisy.
Right i once played a game where your power was 100% derived from in game events and being in the top% of the event and the only was to compete wqs to pay for time advances to complete timers fast enough to do anything. It wasnt a. Oh you could eventually get strong enough to finish.
So so soooo true. The only and I mean only content locked behind the gacha is the game's frankly horrendously bad endgame, and even then it's not bad at all. And I love the justification that the genshin community are genshins biggest haters. Maybe tectone contributed to that, but he should be out of the picture at this point, whatever the case I hate how normalised hating on the game is. I think like the only game that has a better gacha than this is battle cats, and that's only because of the way that game works
You criticize Genshin and League because of microtransactions. I criticize them because they're cringe, and the people who play them are cringe. We are not the same.
The correct answer is to hate all games that function this way. Why let league slide? Fuck league. Not only is it plagued with microtransactions but also a shitty balance team and one of the most toxic player bases in current video games and HAS been damn near since launch
i have friends who religiously play genshin, don’t spend money on it and refuse to acknowledge how garbage it is. literally everything i have learnt about the game (endless grinding awful map system and stat progressions from it that aren’t marked that require a third party website and even that isn’t always useful for some things and theres so many random hey collect these things that are in the middle of nowhere that you basically have to use a checklist from the start or youre fucked and it doesn’t even look like getting them is even kinda fun it’s just a dopamine cycle of hey i got the thing) makes me stunned it has players
It's easy to call a game garbage without playing it yourself. It's also really easy to get a completely biased perspective when your friends talk to you about some of its worst (but still completely optional) aspects. You can grind endlessly, but the game limits it for a reason. You have a lot of things you can collect, but the game gives you items to help you track down those things, and you only "need" a map if you want to true 100% clear everything, and complaining that not everything is marked on the map is a bit like complaining that Elden Ring doesn't give you a map with every single boss and item marked on it
About the beginning of gameplay, the studio that makes genshin literally just copies the same gameplay loop and paints a different way to interact with it in their other games. Once you play one, you've played them all. It's so lazy that I'm disappointed this is the money printing strategy.
Genshin and hsr are similar but they're still completely different genres, play differently, there's basically no exploration in hsr... Basically the only parts that are the same is gacha and grinding for the endgame that isn't really good in genshin. The other 2 games are completely different even from genshin and hsr though. So please, go warn people about actual scams or something instead of making shit up
@infeinfe It's the same exact system. The whole gameplay loop is to grind out for randomized gear that modify your character's stats and slot them into a synergizing team. Yes, the way you interact with this system is different from genshin and HSR. You grind out these relics in genshin in Action RPG fashion and in Take-Turn RPG fashion in HSR. But the gameplay loop of grinding better relics weekly and building a decent team is the exact same between the two games. If a player were to decide between spending time playing Genshin vs. HSR, the only difference would be flavor in gameplay and style because the core is the exact same team building grinding loop.
Wait so not every one of those subs is 6 dollars you can buy it for a 1-6 ratio which I understand but being able to gift subs surely it would still be the regular price when gifting them no? Regardless of country or based on frosts home country rather than
