its weird how I couldnt play rhythm guitar even if my life depended on it yet I can play lead like you play rhythm. Did the rhythm style just naturally come to you? Did you learn riffs? How many should I learn?
that's a good question. i never really cared for lead guitar or shred in my entire music career, i always just loved the riffs. and i only ever learned riffs, never the solos lol. i would say learn as many riffs as possible so that you have every fret (on lets say the bottom 3 strings) covered. that way you will know what notes sound like what and what you can sort of piece together a lick. i have a library of 20 years of riffs in my head that i can use to create my own improv. and i guess i just have a natural feel for rhythm and timing
