It’s Caitlin Clark and the entire draft class of the WNBA this year that brought about this change. One thing I noticed that the coach of the Lynx said in the interview is that revenue is up a lot already this year, and that’s because there’s so much attention on that draft class. You saw what happened with the Sky game when it wasn’t televised on the app. Something similar happened last night with the Seattle Storm game because people wanted to see Nika Muhl play. I was watching a bootleg stream of the game on twitter from a fan in the stadium. Most of this is because of stars from this draft class. I’m going to be watching the Aces because Kate Martin made the team, and the Wings because of Jacy Sheldon. And of course Chicago because of Reese and Cardoso.
I'll have to make it a point to watch the Lynx more because my fellow USF alum Courtney Williams plays for that club now.

I saw a presser for Aces & Lynx players & coach today & one of the reporters there asked both teams about the flights & suggested the league was only doing this now because Caitlin Clark is white. I agree, all the players should be thanking Caitlin Clark for this, but it has nothing to do w/her statements on the subject. Its about money. And Like it or not, Caitlin Clark is a game changing player whose popularity makes her the most lucrative asset the WNBA has ever had. Not only is she responsible for record breaking tickets sales, but the WNBA stands to make the most from TV viewership of Clark & their new broadcasting rights contract.
It's a PR move and Clark's comments definitely weighed in on that decision. She brought more attention to the topic than anyone else.

NBA and NFL flew coach commercial up until the 90s and their league was actually making money. I flew on a plane in the late 80s on Alaska Airlines with half of the Seahawks. Their league hasn't made a dime since it started.
All players in the early stages of their league’s fly commercial. Just because they are women doesn’t mean they get to skip the evolutionary steps of development.

I'm happy they are finally getting this opportunity to fly charter but it literally took 25 years and a rookie to do it. Granted, Clark is amazing but it's sad this didn't happen before.

As a black man I agree. I wish they would stop making it about race and just focus on basketball. Nobody has a game like Clark in the wnba which is why shes bring the interest and views. Actually, if we are being honest, Caitlin Clark's effect is bigger. The NBA was already an established league. The WNBA has been on welfare for its entire, 28-year existence. Caitlin can prove instrumental in changing that forever. I gotta give her more credit because she has the taller task. Her league sucks and it is filled with mostly dikes and dislikes who are all working against her. It's like trying to hug someone while they're punching you in your face.

@juarangos they still aren't making money. They have lost tens of millions of dollars for 20 years. 1 year of extra money doesn't erase th 250+ million they lost and the NBA gave them.
Sometimes someone comes along that just happens to captivate the people and makes big things happen. Not all credit to CC it was an issue before she came on the scene.
The leage is dropping the ball, they need to allow players to stream from their social media accounts. Someone like Angel Reese has millions of followers. I gurantee you if she streamed from her IG she would get more eyes on the game than the league can.
Terrible idea. The TV rights deals are what will raise player salaries. If your idea, no offense, was viable, ALL major leagues would've done it already.

After what happened when the Phoenix Mercury was at DFW in 2023, this move is long overdue. This is a safety issue, especially considering how long some travel days have been. I just read about Breanna Stewart, who stands 6'4", having to squeeze herself between other passengers just to get to her assigned window seat.
