but how good are these guys? friggin awesome!
I see alot of people hailing them musically, and i agree with them. But i don't see anyone talking about the lyrics, especially on the new album, "shooting Star" sends a beautiful message, "Look Away" talks about all the violence happening and no one in power wants to do anything about it. Too Bad and End Of Forever er incredible too. Defintely one of the best bands since 2000, they just continue to improve with every record.
I must agree with you... And the lyrics to every Rival Sons songs are just beautiful. Jay and Scott are amazing... Dave and Mike are fabulous too... But the lyrics are just mesmerising.
And then there is do your worst, which just makes you want to hit someone with a hammer who pissed you off or workout harder
The structure of this song with the vocal harmonies really put it above anything else going on in music right IMO.
True, real rock and roll. So hard to find these days. Saw them open for Sabbath. Great live band.
Go see them as the primary band... In a smaller setting if possible. They blow my mind every time I see them. My new favorite band for sure.
Met the guys by accident when visiting the Dodo Beach Record Store in Berlin the day they opened for Sabbath. Was too funny because I didn't realize who the are, they did some interviews and photos, so I asked one of the shop guys and he told me....shame on me ;-) At least, the show was pretty good but the Waldbühne is way too large to enjoy

@@SunshineLuvsmusic I am excited, I saw them when they opened for Black Sabbath in 2016. I can't wait to see them do a whole set in a much smaller venue.
That guitar riff is just ridiculous. So dark and melodic with Jay wailing overtop of it!

I'm older too, and have experiences and memories of days and nights with the music back then, so when I feel the hairs prick on the back of my neck as I'm listening to this music, and the songs I've heard from Feral Roots especially, it's borne of decades of genuine love and ownership of the music in a visceral way. It's not that they are rehashing that, there's no imitation here, they're adding to that with a true understanding and making it now, yet timeless. It's a craft and understanding and talent to add another layer and experience to what is out there when it is deemed impossible. Rival Sons are jeweled and honed and magic. I am lost in the beauty of this music, this is their best effort to date and it is magnificent.

Scott holiday is a solid player, great slide player too. His playing is def. outside the box, refreshingly pleasant

Man. Oh man. You guys just continue to blow me away. Not only have you brought back real rock but you’ve taken it to a new level. Being old, I recognize the old great rock styles but with such a fresh approach mixed with the soul and blues that it’s just amazing to hear. Rock on my dudes, and I’ll be front and center in Nashville in April.

@@Rennyblue no worries at all :) the whole Feral Roots is a great GREAT album, you should also give Head Down and Great Western Walkyrie a try. Songs in no particular order: open my eyes, pressure and time, keep on swinging, electric man, company man, sleepwalker, tied up, thundering voices, Hollow Bones 1 & 2, Manifest Destiny part 1&2, etc... Be sure to check their acoustic work, they really shine there. And you MUST see them live, I mean I've seen dozens of bands live but RS are in my top 3 live acts of all time. If you're on Facebook, the Rival Sons and daughters group is an awesome group to be part of for pics, discussions, etc... And cherry on top, everybody can tell you these guys are the coolest, sweetest dudes ever
Dude I love this, it really reminds me of Tea Party at the beginning, but the rest is its own animal, this is amazing.

A greattrack that slowly builds up and then blossoms into a great rocking song

This is gonna be Rival Sons' best album so far. It's sounds new. I haven't really heard anything like this. The songs are diverse and brilliantly written. The chords are so unique (also in Feral Roots). I caaaaan't wait until the release.
Released tomorrow, can't wait! Not only are they one of the best rock bands out there right now, but they're really nice guys. Last year, between songs Jay took the time to bring water over to my young kids, and later gave them a big bag of Haribo sweets, and thanked us for bringing them to the gig. Mike handed over his drumsticks after a drum solo, and David threw us his plectrum. Jay had bumped into some other fans in a shop before the gig, and it was their child's birthday, so he surprised them at the evening concert by bringing them on stage and handing over a wrapped present he'd picked out himself. I can't think of another rock band that darn nice!

Fuck the music industry. They don't know what's good. They just chase the flavour of the month, then bin them. Rival Sons don't need to be on the map. They're an island unto themselves, and we are the inhabitants.

This is my favorite Rival Sons' song since I first heard Before the Fire. It brings back that psychedelic vibe from the first album and now I REALLY can't wait to hear this new album. It made my year already.
