With electric cars becoming mainstream, it's pleasing that cars like this will keep the classic V8 sound for prosperity well onto the future
I followed a green MGB GT V8 along a country lane today and I'd forgotten they made a V8 version so came on here for a look. The guy wasn't hooning it along, he had the window down, his elbow out and was just wafting along enjoying the day.
Wow, simply wonderful. Beautiful car and restored sympathetically.
The MGB GT was always a great looking car, this one now has a great engine as well.
Great sounding V8 MG BGT. Make you want to run out and buy one!! All the best Bob
Thanks Bob! Would love another example like this :)
I love these cars; this one sounds amazing!
I got 140mph out of my standard MGBGT V8 on the Autobahn with 160bhp as original engine.
Really nice sympathetic restoration, wind up windows, I love them.
Thank you very much!
I own a 79 mgb gt and I love her to bits. But I would trade her immediately for a V8
She’s a very beautiful baby!!
Thank you!
Love the car. I am soon to be in the process of rebuilding one and just wanted to know what engine you're using? Of course it is a v8 bt just wanted to know what kind it is. The car is beautiful!!!
The original MGB V8 had a rover V8 the same one used in the Range Rover and the SD1 they can quite easily be easily swapped with no major modifications but some people like to alter the inner wings to use tubular exhaust manifolds as the MG ones had a tendency to crack
The rover v8 is all aluminium and only 318 lbs (not including the carbies/FI system) Better use the FI as the twin SU,s go out of tune very quickly
Strange that they didn't make this for longer or as the convertible.
I'm sure that they would have shifted far more.
Hi was there any paper work to say where the lovely interior for this car was bought from by any chance?
There was from memory! However the new owner has all the details now unfortunately. The car was local to ourselves so I assume it was done by someone nearby, sorry I couldn't help anyways.
Cheers
Sam
Super traumauto
The V8 gives great aural.
British hot rod
What exhaust is that I want one
Was the V8 the only MGB/MGC not available with an auto gearbox?
DavidUKesb, Why in all that is holy would you put an automatic gearbox in a sports GT like this? That’s akin to a Mortal Sin man. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
yes. by that stage MG had dropped the Auto trans from the options list, cause no one wanted it!... plus at introduction the slushbox added 105gbp to the price, which was 1164, so you had to pay approx. 10% more, hence only 1320 MGC's and 1737 MGB's were fitted with it.. and as per Art's comment , why would you?
