Yes a Master cut off switch is a very good idea. A stuck solenoid can do more than burn up a starter. It can melt battery cables which can start a fire or and melt the batteries which can start a fire. The Murphey Diesel Engine in my crane uses a Delco 50 MT Starter. It has a manual lever you pull on at the starter as opposed to any Solenoids. I don't know what a 50 MT weighs , but a much smaller 40 MT weighs 75 pounds. I had a Generator rebuilt and I installed a new Regulator. the points in the Regulator stuck and I didn't know it. It drained two brand new 8D batteries totally died and reined them The batter cables ect go so hot they didn't look very good. Thus I had to buy two new batteries that way back when were $130.00 each well over $200 each today .. I had to pay another $500.00 to have the generator rebuilt again and I had to buy a new external Regulator. THEN I INSTALLED A MASTER CUT OFF SWITCH TOO! I think it is a Cole Hersey rated at 1,800 amps .. which is what you need to start trucks and loaders ect.
I love it, your must be very proud and very happy at this point. You have built what was in your dad's mind as the bike he wants to ride. You are amazing lady. My hat is off to you Angle, your dad has taught you well. I know he helped you but that bike has Angle all over it. 😊Peace ✌
You're an artist and a mechanic. I assume you get that from your dad. Love the black pipes! Way easier to keep nice. Just repaint them each winter. Last bike I had with black pipes was my 1983 Willie G. Special. I really miss that bike.
I love the old "Chargers" where you can switch from 6 volts to 12 volts (they also often have a "Booster" function - to start the engine if your battery is dead), and the most important thing is the presence of a rheostat for manual current adjustment (A) because it is not worth charging the battery with a large amount current, if you want the battery to last you a long time.
Looks great guys you and your dad should definitely be pleased with how she’s turning out. I have a cheap set of drag pipes I’ve been wanting to make a 2 into 1 system with a muffler. So I don’t bother my neighbors early on weekend mornings. My wife called me a sissy and told me they aren’t worried about us when they start cutting the grass at 8:00 am on Saturday mornings. Actually she didn’t call me a sissy it was something else but I wanted to be respectful. You guys take care and ride safe.
The "Fishtail"- exhaust pipe is a beautiful, good solution. Your video motivates me to finally buy a welding machine and become a real man who can cook metal😂
I was going to suggest to just grind down the welds a little to make them look nicer, looks like you figured that out. I have two MIG welders. One has 0.045 wire and CO2 gas for welding things like loader and crane buckets and one that has 0.030 wire and 75% Argon and 25% C02 for welding thin stuff and having nicer looking welds. I also have straight Argon for Stainless ect. I used to pay $10.00 for 50# of C02. C02 goes liquid at about 900 PSI thus you get a huge volume of Liquid and a tank lasts forever. where as if you have 2200 PSI of gas in a tank it does not last very long because it's just compressed gas.
@@RedRiderCanadaBC Before I had my own MIG welder , I used my friends MIG welder to modify the gas tank on my 1977 Honda CR-125 that I put the 4 stroke motor in . I had to cut circles out of the bottom of the tank to clear the 4 stroke head. Then I cut and raised the top of the tank for more capacity. It didn't look very pretty because my friend had a body shop so he just used C02 because he always grinds his welds. I had some pin hole leaks and I patched them with "All Metal" Bondo , it's still not leaking 40 years later. The engine has no spark and I wanted to replace with a CDI Ignition. I finally figured out why CDI is not readily available for the Honda SL-125 motor 1971 Vintage.

Smart move on the master kill Tons of work grinding the pipe welds especially on the inside joins Was the WG triple tree rake a different angle? Looks FL now
The rubber mount FL triple tree cannot be used on an FX chassis because they have a different rake angle. The earlier solid mount FL has the same triple tree as the FX, other than the mounts that my dad added.
Dearest -Looks like a beautiful bike - I love the pipe work, but simple question The pipe on the forward cylinder looks like it will heat up your crankcase , and also the rear pipe looks like it will heat up your drive train in both cases you will burn more engine and transmission oil(s)? - I do not know your engine technology, but am I incorrect? btw: I had rebuilt Babes, and then Beauty's carbs recently. Babe takes off like a Rocket. Beauty should be on par if not faster as having open headers and Babe has the original stock exhaust. Both use pods, same jets and basically the same engines - Beautiful's accelerator pump does not appear to deliver as needed under throttle demand - so I figure Ill just take the carbs out once again and replace its diaphragm and spring which I have extra's - just another 6-8 hours of tinkering -
@@RedRiderCanadaBC I was just belly aching about the carbs as just recently rebuilt that set just after I had to do Babe's - Beauty has had some changes from stock, so first I had to tune to rid her of back fires once increasing CFM via PODS, and replacing the burnt out stock 70lb exhaust with a 10 lb header that is very loud in being straight thru. So with all those things accounted for I had paid special attention to cleaning out the carbs' ducts and airways. In the accelerator pump, there is a spring loaded rubber diaphragm that I should of replaced considering the existing one is about 45 years old? Now why I was so hasty as in fixing Babes, in assuming Beauty's would also work, was a dumb move on my part. So Ill fix it as its worth about another 20 hp - where Beauty should be able to hit over 100hp when tuned properly - Soon ! btw: Babe is now starting to look 'Beautiful' too! -
Angel, the bike turned out looking great, and I'm sure that the EOT is very proud of how it turned out. What did everyone think about it at Shovelfest? When you were disassembling it to put in y'alls wiring harness, I noticed that you were kinda struggling with the rear tire to get it out, is that not a hinged rear fender? I thought that earlier during the build that I had noticed the hinge and wondered why you weren't using it while taking the wheel assembly out, but I could have been wrong though. I wanted to warn you about that battery cut off switch, too, because I've bought several different electrical components from TEMU thinking that for the price and what I was using them for, I'd give them a try and I learned my lesson. I've had their switches break internally to where the poles of the switches break off and they don't make contact to interrupt the circuit and I've had them also not stop at their lock position for off and on to where the knob just continuesly spins around or vibrates out of the position, so keep an eye on it! Another thing, if Bill decides that he would like to put a set of original 72 bags, trunk, and the complete windshield on it I have the complete setup with the keys and hardware he can have if he just pays for the shipping or if you're down this way we can meet up and you can take them back with you. I don't need them for mine, if I need the dresser I use the Ultra Classic. Keep the throttle twisted and the rubber side down babe TX Ted 72 Shovelhead
@RedRiderCanadaBC on my 72 you just take those back 2 bolts out of the chrome strip that runs down each side of the fender and as long as you made the wiring harness for the taillight long enough it folds right up so I can roll the tire out. Unless there was some bracket that was removed for the rear signal bar to originally bolt to by the guy that originally owned it prior to me. That hinged fender was supposed to make it easier to get the wheel off on the side of the road incase of emergencies. I'll double check under mine to see if I can see if I can tell what you're talking about and I'll also look in the original Harley Davidson Parts Catalog that I found at a swap meet with all of the original numbers in it that even my local dealership doesn't have that whenever I need a part they use those numbers to cross reference with.
Hey Red is that a ty-175 or 250?..I keep seeing it in the back ground....I put a lever starter on my shovel, works light years better that stock(cool as hell) and if you want i can send you pics and my simple rewiring for it. No relay needed...KISS.(keep it simple stupid).lol.....Rusty, from Grand forks .
I don't know much about the Harley Davidson brand, but tell me guys: 8:15 Is this the central hole in the frame for the Frog seat like on the old Panhead and Knucklehead motorcycles?
@@RedRiderCanadaBC That's cool! I love these seats, they are quite comfortable. Two separate Frog seats were installed on my motorcycle from the factory. But over the years, they naturally fell into disrepair and I changed them to one solid seat (corny- a solid seat is much cheaper).

That battery cut off appears to be a 100A unit at least from what I can find
It's 250 amp according to the description on the website where we got it from.
Keep the throttle twisted and the rubber side down babe

72 Shovelhead
My dad would be interested in knowing the shipping on the tour pack! Can you email me : redrider.canada.bc@gmail.com
And yes, the fender is hinged but it has some kind of brackets in there that keep it bolted solid and they are a pain to get out with the tire in lol.
Was that bike finished when you had it at shovel fest ? 😘
As finished as it is in this video, yep.
Yes I saw that after I finished watching the video...was your dad with you at the shovel fest ?
jeah.. 💥

3 wires and a kicker lol. And yes, those are both 1970s TY 250 trials bikes... hoping to make one decent one from the two of them lol.
😂great job👍🇺🇸
Thank you 😆
Curious? Why such thin seats… I have to have some couch with the bounce
That seat isn't staying on it was just the quickest to fir for now.
I don't know much about the Harley Davidson brand, but tell me guys: 8:15 Is this the central hole in the frame for the Frog seat like on the old Panhead and Knucklehead motorcycles?
Yes, you’re right 👍
@@RedRiderCanadaBC That's cool! I love these seats, they are quite comfortable. Two separate Frog seats were installed on my motorcycle from the factory. But over the years, they naturally fell into disrepair and I changed them to one solid seat (corny- a solid seat is much cheaper).
Wow i love that bike , and yes i love u as well , your a cool kat ,rata ,tat , tat , ps , dadi'o need not worry , im in australia 😚👍✌
