Holst's greatest band work isn't either of the Suites for Military Band - it's Hammersmith.

It is unorthodox but still a great piece.

Hammersmith is interesting because it's a passacaille, with a dance section, and goes back to the somber passacaglia. I heard it in high school on a CD of the Eastman Wind Ensemble my dad had and fell in love with it. Then I had the pleasure of playing it in an honor band and again in college. Such a neat work.
