Love Maslanka's music. His style is definitely unique and he treats the wind band in a way that I don't think many other composers dare to do. Love the way he utilizes every instrument group to the fullest. When I played A Child's Garden of Dreams many years ago it was the hardest piece of music I had ever played, but man am I glad I was introduced to it and to Maslanka.

Maslanka's approach to compositional development of materials isn't quite my cup of tea, but his ability to orchestrate a vivid sound world rivals Mahler.
