Same bro.. I've been searching this for years on UA-cam. My main memory was the massive cobia head. I was that young that I didn't know who Phil Atkinson was, if he was anyone back then 🤣
Phil, i was a tackle rat teen when this video came out and it blew my mind, me and my mates spent years after this retracing your steps trying to get that fish of a lifetime, while we never caught anything as significant as you guys the connection I got with nature and the ocean and things we experienced along the way are priceless, thank you for posting this video as I have long lost my vhs copy but can now share this awesome production with my son...Happy days to you.
Have you seen "spinning for Spaniard's" by Ron Calcutt? Or Phil's other vid " marlin off the rocks" or "Going for gold" with Steve Starling. These are some cool old school fishing doco style films.
Our local video store made a killing off us from this video back in the day. I've never seen it on UA-cam before. Searched numerous times. Always remembered that massive cobia head. I didn't even know that Phil Atkinson was in it until rewatching. Awesome rock fishing! ✌️
It’s been years since I seen this video brings back memories ,have you guys heard of the video “in search for big red” produced around the same time land based addiction thanks for the memories
I remember a young guy showing up to work one morning in the mid to late 1980s with a large fish he'd just previously caught off the rocks. I'm not 100% sure but I seem to recall it had to be cut in half to carry it out. Do you know anything about that Phil?
@philatkinson-hw1qe It seems so long ago. I have loved watching your videos just recently, mate. I just watched Pot Luck as well, and I know the spot. My dad used to fish it in the 1950s when 500 yards of line often went out to sea, and fish that were stopped were often dead retrieved. I've just been informed that I need a knee replaced so, no rocks for me at the moment. I still get over to Putty Beach for tailor occasionally although 30 years has seen a huge change in numbers and size.
Haha no way, wore out my vhs of this, must have watched both of them 100 times. I became addicted too

@cactusjayse9914 that head was huge, the tiger sharks cruising the ledge was epic too, the whole lot actually 👍
