- France is on the verge of putting a far-right government in power as the right-wing party won a third of the vote. A bloc of left-wing parties was in second and President Emmanuel Macron's centrists were in third. A second round of voting takes place next Sunday. NBC News' Keir Simmons reports.

A President doesn't control monetary policy. That's the private entity known as the Federal Reserve which is not a part of the government which controls the currency.
