0:48 Fixed.. I was scratching my head for ages until i released i had to "uncheck this box" lock with master password.. I figured the master password was being used first, before the PIN was asked. I would of thought it was the other way around, but it makes sense, A PIN Is not as strong. in any case... i moved over from Lastpass today, very happy. However, the Lastpass always blamed websites for not autofilling all fields (eg. Gmail, it used to auto-fill both "automatically") so i kind of dismissed this argument for some time. It wasn't until i moved to Bitwarden, i tried logging into Google, and same issue.. I had to autofill *twice* so ya, it must be due to website.. But websites don't update their login THAT fequenly do they ? That's the response i go from Lastpass as to why it was not done automatically.. I guess i understand its different page, but it also happens on other sites as well.. I just can't beleive login pages get updated all the time with "break" these autofill'ers. FYI: I was looking around to see if Bitwarden gave you that "*" in the field an easy context menu,, but it looks like it must be done from the extension .. no biggie.. but would be convenient..
New user: You must lock it after every unlock to use pin. I also noticed that some web sites won't let you generate a password if you are using 2 step log in.
Hey, @Password Bits thanks for the tip! I was wondering if you also use bitwarden on an iphone. It doesnt seem very functional... I have a very long master pass so each time I want to log-in to something it takes for ever... and then if I want to log in to something else I need to re-enter it!
This is not much of an issue with Bitwarden but with iOS in general. You'll need to unlock your Bitwarden vault by opening the app first before having it autofill somewhere else. The way it works is that password mangers like Bitwarden in order to autofill on iOS must give iOS there passwords and then iOS does the autofilling, it just a security thing Apple does. But if the app is already not open in the background you must enter your master password and unlock it which can get annoying. So make sure to open Bitwarden and keep it open in the background to avoid having to enter your master password all the time. If Bitwarden is open in the background you can use FaceID or TouchID to get back into Bitwarden. @@passwordbits Hi there, thanks so much for your response. Its a shame as I really like Bitwarden and it works perfect on my mac laptop! Regarding i-phone the thing is that: 1-I have the Bitwarden app already OPEN in the background. 2- I set the lock options to 30 mins. 3- When I try to log in to any other app or site - it asks me to re-enter my MPass again. ------I do not use use FaceID or TouchID as I am against giving my fingerprint to apple.... So as I understand there is no way to by-pass this if I do not have touch ID enabled....?
@@suzanazzz You can use the PIN option instead of TouchID. Open the Bitwarden app, go to settings, under "Security" make sure "Unlock with TouchID" is "disabled" and "unlock with PIN Code" is enabled by selecting it. Now when autofill shows up instead of entering your master password you enter the PIN.
@@passwordbits Hey thanks for your response! I came across the pin option but my thoughts were if this is safe? Why having a hard to guess master password but use an easy to guess pin, does that make sense? What are your thoughts on that?
@@suzanazzz The PIN doesn't replace the master password; you still need the master password to log into your Bitwarden account. Your PIN never leaves your device so it’s extremely secure. When you set up the PIN Bitwarden uses that PIN to encrypt your master password and stores it locally on your device, enter the right PIN and it reveals the master password which unlocks your vault. The PIN only allows for 5 failed tries before the PIN option drops and you only have the master password option to log into the app. The only threat you have with the PIN is anyone who has physical access to your phone. This means they would need to physically have your phone, know your PIN to get in the phone, and guess the right PIN for Bitwarden in under 5 tries. In other words, the only threat you have with the PIN is with a roommate or your kids guessing it so don’t make it easy for them to guess. You can also salt your most important passwords like banking and email so even if someone did by chance got in your password manager they wouldn’t know the right password. ua-cam.com/video/wMvWL-sKu54/v-deo.html

Thought I'd try BW but I'm back to LP after typing in password 1000 times. Terrible.
