    Currently a freshman at #1, St. Albans. I can tell you our workload is absolutely heavy, and you need to put off lots of time for school and school only. Boarding is optional, and only 33 of our kids do it. However, everyone who's attended this school has had a bright future.

      @@rileyjones2785 As an Andie, I hate to admit it, but there is no way you can exclude Exeter (or Lawrenceville). I am also obliged to point out that these surveys tend to highlight the "major" prep schools. There are a number of extraordinary institutions that tend to fly under the radar. In most cases by choice. Two that come to mind are Miss Porter's and Dalton. The success of a student depends on whether he/she is attending the appropriate institution.
      I thrived at Phillips Academy, Andover. But I know a lot of people who avoided it like the plague. They discovered the perfect school for them at Miss Porter's or Woodside Priory.
      A list like this should be taken with a ton of salt. It is the same as trying to compare schools like Harvard and Stanford with Williams and Haverford. What is perfect for one person would be torture for another.

    • @hanshiklee983
      @hanshiklee983 6 років тому +8

      Then why are you watching this video? All these schools are NOT overrated. They all deserve the corresponding "fame" or "awe" they receive. Also, I'm sure that whatever schools you're talking about are nowhere near the education experience the boarding schools in the video above provide. Maybe it's not right for you, but thinking about it objectively, many of these schools do offer much more opportunity for students than a regular public school.

Maybe we should "Install" their curriculum in to our public schools instead of common core. But then of course THEY couldn't find the 180 IQ students that do math backwards:) It's kind of a shame that the world is so out of control. Peace, very progressive.

      And they teach classic Greek. Then you can read Homer and Plato in the original.

    boarding schools are overrated. there are private day schools that offer just as good education, have just as many kids going to ivys and top tier colleges, and cost much less. boarding schools are mainly for the richies and international kids who can afford (aka asians esp. chinese)

      The difference is the simulation of a college lifestyle, and the availability of teachers.

      Bao Nghi many boarding schools offer blind admission/ financial aid, and to my understanding, many students in the top boarding schools were enrolled with financial aid. Boarding schools offer a plethora of benefits for incoming students, such as understanding of independence, sports, clubs, socialization, and of course personal growth. Boarding school education is a very good thing to invest/enroll in. Just think of the wide variety of courses and activities a student can get to enjoy!
