You have to realize you’re paying that kind of money so your child BUILDS A NETWORK with other families who have businesses, are wealthy etc and their kids. Has very little to do with the education itself. A strong network of stable millionaires is far more valuable than an A+ level education in 99% of instances anyway.

@Jhinal Badala haha obviously many spoiled kids but you'd actually be surprised on how many students are on financial aid and scholarships. At my school I think half the students are.
You would think EVERY high school should help students practice college exams, make a portfolio, and help decide a major... but nope. You have to pay thousands for it 🤦♀️
My granddaughter attended a private Christian school. She did her own portfolio. She choose Southern Wesylan University for her first 4 yrs., and got scholarships for the whole 4 yrs. Her parents are far from being well to do. She did it on her own. Wants to become a Forensic Pathologists. She would like to work at Quantico.
Look at public schools today, underpaid teachers, resources are dependent on the school zone aka property taxes of the area, so those who live in nice areas have pretty decent public schools and vice versa. I know I wouldn’t want to teach with everything going on today.
i attended a regular HS in NYC and we were all assigned a guidence counseler during junior yr to help with college applications/protfilio. we also did our personal statements during eng class.... and almost every school does practice college (SAT). idk it if has to do with state.
these private school teachers are being paid for their work. society relies upon the free labor of public school teachers outside their contract hours in order to invest as little money as possible to keep the achievement gap open
I've studied in a very expensive school in Asia, but through a scholarship and not because I'm rich lol. The school was great, it has really good facilities, delicious food, special subjects, etc. The main problem I had was that I had a hard time fitting in, since my classmates there have very different lifestyle from mine.
Same for me, I study in the most expensive private university in Israel and the students there are used to a completely different life than me. At first it was challenging but I learned now to take advantage of that and build a network here
I find it frustrating that so many people equate being smart with having a great memory. In high school pretty much every exam and test depends on flat out regurgitation of facts, so unless you have a photographic memory you may not be seen as "smart". It's such an outdated way of measuring the success of learning.
That’s how we’re taught here in Asia. Rote memorization is king, but then we are also required to think outside the box. I mean it doesn’t hurt having memorized theorems and using them to answer an essay. What I mean here is that memorization is a crucial skill for advanced learning.
not anymore tho. I go to a public high school and everything requires a lot more critical thinking now. the overall teaching methods and curriculums still kinda suck tho
Quite true. Parents probably are always out working their asses off to run their companies and to give their children much much better life. Like those movies we see.
Yeah growing up poor my parents beat me everyday and treated me like their slave and passed out drunk on a regular basis. I really needed that quality time with them.
I went to a pretty bougie boarding school on a scholarship and there were definitely some good aspects, like the lower student : teacher ratio that allowed for more individual attention. Overall, I think my experience was a good one, but I also saw a lot of negative aspects of the boarding school life. Many of the international kids barely got to see their families outside of summer break (assuming they weren't also enrolled in some kind of summer school). A lot of the international students also formed cliques based on country of origin and would ostracize students for hanging out with anyone outside of that clique. The school had to literally put on their application form that they were not a correctional school, because so many parents were shipping their "problem" children off to boarding school. We still had students that were well aware of the fact that they were there, because their parents didn't want to deal with them. There was a lot of pressure to go to elite colleges. Kids from regular families couldn't keep up with the spending habits of the wealthy students. The school was obsessed with creating the leaders of tomorrow, and if you weren't a state champion athlete, a straight A student, holding a leadership position within the school's student leadership structure, and involved in several clubs, it was treated like you weren't living up to your potential. The guys' side of the school was pseudo-military and had a lot of hazing issues. So yeah, having a three masted boat does not mean that an expensive school will automatically be better than a regular school.
Wow..I get the "we are not a correctional school" ...that is insane...and you show the downside of it all...with all tht is happening in education across the globe, it shows the issues begin at home...
You must be alluding to Culver Academies? May I ask what year and what dorm. I graduated and a firm believer in how life changing Culver can be for a majority of students. I am sorry your experience was sub par
@@colinlasek6761 And here I was trying not to name names....hahaha. As I said in the original post, I got a good education and it was overall a good experience for me, I just happened to also notice that there were downsides to elite boarding schools that aren't always obvious from the outside.
I would rent a place in the swiss alps and ski with my kids. And if the teacher assigns them homework I would rip it to shreds and tell the teacher its fine... I want me to be the cool dad, and the teachers at the school to be the mean ones
I went to rosey for 6 years. While the tuition is high, they also offer many free spots and discounts based on parents income. My family was middle class and it was cheaper than our local public high school for me to go.
@@oreoluwaayeni5595 I went on a scholarship. My schooling was free. My family had to pay for my flights there and back when needed and for my recreational activities.
@@bewington Even if you had free tuition flying back and forth from Europe is expensive and you recreational activities likely weren't cheap. How could that be overall cheaper than going to your local public high high school which is free as well?
@@squiggs1002 possibly. But the students from America all flew together and got a discount. I don’t know how much it was as my parents handled that. A lot of costs are included in the school. For instance, I did a few sports with horses and that was included. My parents just bought my gear. Food on campus was included. The school does a lot of outings to other countries which are included.. minus any souvenirs you wish to buy. A major cost most students have is partying. They can go out and blow thousands in 1 night. Fortunately, I have never been into going out.
I teach at the private school my daughter attends. Though the curriculum and opportunities are great, the parents are a complete nightmare. You are threated to be sued weekly. Most teachers and administrators suck up to the parents that have the most money or who "donates" the new football field. Just because we work at a private school does not mean you get paid more. I have a Master's in math and science and I make $39k. Most of the kids are really sweet but those that have overbearing parents are a complete nightmare. One parent pushed to have her 6th grader in my college geometry course. He had NO background in geometry. I worked with that child everyday to try to het him caught up on the prerequisites but he didn't even know his shapes. That kid was steessed all because the parent wanted her kid in a higher math class. He even said he didn't want to be there.
You are highly underpaid for your skills set maybe you should think about joining another industry where your masters in maths and science will pay you more
I have a family who are in the school system. Teachers/principal etc. My mom said it drove her crazy when she would go to the suburbs of chicago and see what the kids were doing. Its truly not fair. They get the latest and best of everything. Inner city kids are years behind.
@B Keene just because it happens doesn't make it fair. To punish the kids for their parent's mistakes yet, tell those same kids to do better. What if they were never given the opportunity to have or be better? It's a messed up situation regardless and shouldn't be a thing.
It would be, but it would require all the parents to get their act together. The fact that lower income households tend to be single parent and have more kids ensure we will never have enough money coming in either through donations, tuition or taxes.
More "connected" except without a clue about the real world 🤣 and that's why people in government (who've gotten there because of who they know) are absolutely goddamn useless and only there to continue the greed.
@@vivianbarths6022 Absolutely. Even in normal universities this already happens. It's recommended to connect with the best students in different fields. So these rich schools are just an upgraded version of that.
I like the fact that each school offers something unique. I hope I can live to see the day I send my children to a school that caters to their specific needs in terms of development for another stage in life and not have to worry about the price tag🙏
yes, it is amazing what these schools offer but they're kids. It's like holding a gun on at their head and saying "If you don't get into one of the 7 ivy leagues, you're a lost cause." College is not for everyone. Kids are kids. They slack off and want to do 10 things at once. These places are a curse and a blessing. I'd feel so much pressure but understand not everyone has my opportunity.

They should franchise their system to other countries. Public school in Finland -> elite private school in the US. The Finnish brand is strong; I bet that they would do well.
They also give parents absolutely no freedom to raise their kids and run their families as they choose; in fact they've more or less abolished the family. The state runs everything, kids are the property of the state and not their parents, and religious and cultural customs and beliefs and values are suppressed by the government. It would never play in Peoria.
i currently am privileged enough go to an elite school in Asia and honestly I have never had this many mental health issues. The stress is incredible. They expect you to know what university you're going to since grade 10... It's very pretty in description and does help get good uni opportunities but honestly idk if developing severe anxiety and trauma (from the toxic social atmosphere) is actually worth it...
I heard Asia is bad with school stress and having to have it all figured out at a young age. Please remember life isnt always about school and being in a job you hate because it pays good. You have to find ways to cope healthily. Hang in there🙏👍🤓
Right! And if they government would fund schools properly and stop interfering by telling educators how to run things, perhaps they’d have the freedom to provide these things
@@tonylabrusca6602 it doesn’t have to be. We’re sending billions of dollars to Ukraine without the taxes rising to 50%, so certainly it must be possible to find money to fund our schools.
You may want to cover elementary schools as well. My dad attended the notable Dalton School in NYC which doesn’t come cheap. May not be $75k but certainly meets your criteria of the $50k+/year range and is well known and prestigious serving students from K-12 grade
@@Sofia-oi4sf So their lifelong friends will also be rich. If your child ends up struggling in the future, her best friends are millionaires/billionaires who could easily help. If your child starts a business, her network will be there. Even in normal high schools or universities, wise students build a strong network across different fields. Everyone sucks up to the best students & athletes, because you know they have the highest chances of being successful - & you could learn a lot from them. Expensive schools is just a level up of this network opportunity. You have to keep in mind, that to succeed in life you always have to seek the most successful person you know, & learn what you can from them. If you are the most successful person in your circle, then you have little room for improvement. You'll be like a frog in a deep well, the top of the local food chain, but never getting out of the well. Oh and the curriculum can be superior too. The expensive ones in LA for example, gives you the option of Spanish/Mandarin/French/Latin as a 2nd language to learn throughout, and top students get a 3rd choice as well. It's just endless opportunities throughout.
In my private school, some struggling parents are not even able to afford the cost of a dedicated butler for their child and instead have to use a shared butler. Really breaks my heart to see such poverty.
I went to a super expensive military boarding school in the US. It was a very unique experience, and while the military school part sucked, the faculties and campus were very nice. The coolest part though was the fact the school had kids from over 30 different countries and 30 different US states. I have friends from the DR, Nigeria, Egypt, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Panama, Ukraine, Angola, Brazil, Turkey, and Kazakhstan just to name few. Still keep in touch with them till this day.
@@emiliasanchez3637 oh my a fucking lot. I went and still go to an exclusive private school, and at our school, there's 3 subdivisions between all the kids. Their parents or grandparents are actors or like lawyers or doctors, mostly stars' kids. Than there's the scholarship or benefits kids, or the kids with 'poor' parents. Poor parents are still rich by national standards, though. The 2 'supreme' groups bully the 3rd group, and teachers can't do much about it without risking their jobs. Its fucking awful

You do have a point @@ss21380 Besides, nowadays, the internet really helps with learning better. It's not perfect of course, but no school is perfect after all, we just have to learn to get as much information we can get.
Yeah, because one physics textbook costs $150 and to get books for an entire classroom is $4-$5,000, so the school district probably was like fuck it, we’re getting multiple flat screens for the same price, lol!
My son went to a very prestigious high school @ $70, 000 a year. Teachers make about $40,000- $50,000. They live on campus so all expenses are paid for.
Actually, on average private school teachers earn about $10-15K less than comparable public school positions. Some private schools may pay more than public, but they usually will pay less. This is because at a private school the working conditions are usually better, so instructors are willing to take a salary cut.
Meanwhile my public school didn't even have enough books for the class🤦🏾♀️ kids getting charged .49 to eat mystery meat and we had 39 kids to one teacher........ crazy what money can buy
It’s sad that there are schools struggling like that, and yet, there’s all these expensive schools that serve sushi. You’d think those ritsy schools would help out the poorer ones.
@@babblesp1367 Exactly and they should. The poorer low income schools need that money more than they do. The rich schools should be happy and honored to do give back to the poor schools.
Some of these schools go a bit too far. Remember, they have to sell their tuition to parents - many of whom have very high ambitions for their children, often unrealistic ones. Also, parents want to visit a school and see that their child will be comfortable and well taken-care of. So i don't think that these represent a standard that we should have in all schools. However, you are right that public schools in the USA vary far, far too widely. This is because (1) many states pay teachers absolutely terribly and teachers get burn out. (2) the local tax base (property tax, usually) is what funds education, leading to more affluent towns/cities being able to do more and pay more - far more - than poor districts. And that is a CRIME for public policy, but good luck finding a lawmaker who is willing to overturn that and risk irate wealthy parents.
These schools are just pay-to-win. There are probably kids in these schools who will 100% be successful no matter how smart they are, just because of status and connections.
Startled to see Romero name mentioned here I am among his students and it have been the best decision I have made he carries every one working with him along and make sure they all make returns.

well, these luxury schools/academies/colleges are all fine and dandy, and I'd love the chance to just be able to visit and take a look around....but I love my public school's (Malaysian here! hello everyone...) experiences and memories...it's a school in rural Sabah (Malaysian North Borneo), built on top of a hill, surrounded by green mountains and pristine nature, and overlooking beautiful rice fields and rivers...and students have the option of whether or not to live at the school boarding and I decided to get into the boarding (best decision ever!! btw)... even though it's in a rural area, it doesn't lack anything...it's one of the best schools in the state academically and in extra-curricular activities...I like to believe that it's the students and members of staff that makes a great school, not the amount of school fees paid in a year...
You can achieve the same outcome as the Lang School by homeschooling (creating portfolios, subject themes, hand on learning, internships). That's pretty much what they did here. They took the homeschool model, sold it to a school and charged thousands for someone else that are not parents to teach it. But don't get too excited there thinking you could do the same thing. The powers that be have made it illegal for *you* to take your awesome homeschool model and teach other children that are not yours. We wouldn't want the plebs to create a better education outcome and challenge our broken public system.
It is definitely for the rich and influential families. I want to know if there are any alumni from one of those elite high school who are now well known for something great.
I went to a boarding school that produced various famous people, actor Lee Marvin attended, guitarist Bonnie Raitt, PBS commentator Wayne Williams etc.
No. They go to college to become teachers( mediocre) so they can go back to the safe little private school they graduated from and become teachers! It’s too scarey in the real world
It doesn't matter which school you attend or how expensive and it is . More resources you get lesser grit you have in your learning. A school with cheap fees and lower resources can also create smart minds.
Disagree. You cant compete if you dont have resources. For example when i went to a gifted elementory school they had a chemistry lab,Dance room ,band , Computers,a pool! Im from the hood. All we had and was a gym and auditorium in the same area thats it. I was doing fractions-These kids were already on algebra. I had science /biology. They were mixing chemicals in chemistry, I went home crying . Of course my grades were crap. I couldnt keep up. It was too much! I barely graduated. It was so embarressing to be one of the worst students. I went in 6th grade -middle of semester. These kids were already talking college and they didnt go high school yet.
@@1Skorpia those things can't give you critical thinking though. Those other kids had all this handed to them which makes it harder to learn how to use your mind yourself IMO. There's a serious amount to be said for the smarts you get from having to be street smart and figure alot of things out yourself.
You can learn everything on your own, I barely got through highschool and I'm now a software engineer I didn't go to college or anything, I pretty much learnt coding from reading books and figuring it out but I was into computers since I was a kid, don't ever doubt yourself
You folks managed to leave out some of the best schools in the US -- Phillips Andover, Phillips Exeter, and St. Paul's School (and a number more). They have facilities and endowments that are huge. There are no trips to Antarctica; but St. Paul's School (and the others) regularly send their highly competitive crew teams to compete at the Henley Regatta for the Princess Elizabeth Cup. The athletics are highly competitive. The academics are the best in the country. Admission is highly competitive too.
Poor kids need to work harder to get noticed so I don't think that's the focus of these schools. It's all about stimulating the kids' mind, if I had had this as a kid it would've certainly gave me a sense of purpose and more confidence. This is all kids with academic dreams can ask for.
You're missing point. A nanny can cost up yo $150k per year. That same money provides 3 students a high-end boarding school and allows the parents to travel, etc...
As much as you want to be jealous of these children you got to realize private school = SHELTERED when I switched from private to public it was the BIGGEST culture shock ever
I go to a school through financial aid that’s very similar to these. Sure they look great, but in reality, you only go for the name on your college applications. Schools like these are businesses that in my experience care more about their reputation than student education and well being
It doesn't have to be a private school per se. My rich cousin goes to a public charter school in a wealthy county, and the facilities there are better than most private schools. The common differentiator is not private or public but wealthy or poor.
So we found out where the kids of all the senators and representatives go. I mean, with all those taxes and their salary... They don't give a damn about public schools, but only the best for their own kids, which is not bad. But hell I wish they could care more for the wellbeing of the other 98%.
The Nike running camp is at Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire, you can see in the video that it isn’t at Berkshire, the KUA crest is on the flags in the background. Going to KUA for school was the best decision I could’ve made
It's kind of sickening that only rich people can afford the proper education for their kids to become more rich people, while poor people have to work their ass off and are expected to work twice as hard only to be shamed twice as hard if they fail.
This isn't "proper education" though. It's excessive. A nice meal with quality ingredients is proper, it doesn't have to be $500/plate to be proper. Same with education.
This: real proof we live in a world of economic division. It's all about network, access and wealthness. These are the future "leaders" of our "free world"
Here in Italy, we don't pay to go school, we only pay for the books. I only paid on the first year of highschool. And the price can change based on the marks you've received when you finished middle school. That's it. I can't imagine what it is like to pay to go to school every year.
I know 3 people that went to private schools, all went to ordinary colleges afterwards, something almost anyone can get in. I know one person who went to public school, then public two year college, then transferred to one of the best colleges in the country.
You missed Choate in Connecticut, The Ross School in Wainscott, NY ( East Hampton) The Avenue’s school, in NYC & East Hampton. You could do another list.
Education is important and I value higher education. However, happiness is priceless. If you end up going to some cut throat ivy league school and end up on wall street with a cut throat job, you are very unlikely to be happy. I went to public school, completed my engineering degree and went on to become a patent attorney at low cost for my education. I am fairly happy and I got the same salary and job offer as many ivy league graduates.
Uh, no. Can Mom keep up the entire household, cooking, cleaning, shopping, child care and then give a world class K-12 education? What about the social and real life skills you will never learn just staying at home?
Yes! The view of homeschooling is changing very positively, very quickly. Not all homeschooling is equal, of course, but parents could hire a maid, and several private course tutors for each subject and still come out with lower costs and higher performance than many private schools. It's also more time efficient, so there is extra time for social and other experiences. It really depends all on how it's done. Parents who are able to devote the time and effort can make it worth it.
@@crystalmueller4058 You don’t need a maid to do their chores. Teach your kids to do their share so they become hard working individuals who know the value of life skills and work
No unless ur child is going to be working alone. Collaboration and Presentation skills is a must and homeschooled kids don’t tend to be the best at these.
There's only really good schools and bad schools. In bad schools you just have to learn at home and the classes are watered down so much that it's so easy to pass, but then when they go to college, they start to struggle. Good schools are tough and you graduate feeling like you're average but do pretty well in college/university.
I went to Glenalmond college in Scotland for 3 years of schooling, was absolutely amazing, met a lot of long term friends some still are 😂 little cheaper than some on this list but still expensive.

You would think EVERY high school should help students practice college exams, make a portfolio, and help decide a major... but nope. You have to pay thousands for it 🤦♀️

That's not good. Seems like a common issue when someone not rich enters private schools or colleges.
Same for me, I study in the most expensive private university in Israel and the students there are used to a completely different life than me. At first it was challenging but I learned now to take advantage of that and build a network here
Same, I attend one of the most expensive private colleges in the U.S. on scholarship, and my classmates have insanely different lifestyles to mine.
I find it frustrating that so many people equate being smart with having a great memory. In high school pretty much every exam and test depends on flat out regurgitation of facts, so unless you have a photographic memory you may not be seen as "smart". It's such an outdated way of measuring the success of learning.
Facts
School system is stuck on industrial revolution times lol

@@anyastar8 My dad is a plastic surgeon and he works really hard. But he always finds time to spend with me and my siblings c:
Wow..I get the "we are not a correctional school" ...that is insane...and you show the downside of it all...with all tht is happening in education across the globe, it shows the issues begin at home...
in this way tha schools is much better what has only earning system! i mean has very good points and mostly there is normal students (normal money)

You are highly underpaid for your skills set maybe you should think about joining another industry where your masters in maths and science will pay you more
So rue kids these days in high school are a waste.
Why dont you leave. Not worth emotionally and financially
Maybe by staying in that job they can have their daughter attend the school on a scholarship
This makes me feel like a commoner watching how royal high school looks like.
Wouldn't this country be so much more amazing if EVERY CHILD had support systems like this?
I have a family who are in the school system. Teachers/principal etc. My mom said it drove her crazy when she would go to the suburbs of chicago and see what the kids were doing. Its truly not fair. They get the latest and best of everything. Inner city kids are years behind.
@B Keene just because it happens doesn't make it fair. To punish the kids for their parent's mistakes yet, tell those same kids to do better. What if they were never given the opportunity to have or be better? It's a messed up situation regardless and shouldn't be a thing.
Why can’t we get all schools in America like this. This is the issue; this shouldn’t be reserved for the upper class.
That’s not how life works
It would be, but it would require all the parents to get their act together. The fact that lower income households tend to be single parent and have more kids ensure we will never have enough money coming in either through donations, tuition or taxes.
A more expensive school equates to more connected kids.
The exclusive little network starts young. So much fanny sniffing. My son had some friends but got dumped after grandma asked how much we were worth.
Exactly...I need to step up my game before i get married. My kids must attend these schools..even if on scholarships

As much as you want to be jealous of these children you got to realize private school = SHELTERED when I switched from private to public it was the BIGGEST culture shock ever
I go to a school through financial aid that’s very similar to these. Sure they look great, but in reality, you only go for the name on your college applications. Schools like these are businesses that in my experience care more about their reputation than student education and well being
While the local private highschool in my town only demands 60 collars a month and people are already complaining
"There is only one thing on the mind... college"
Oh... so close yet so far.
If I had money to burn, I'd send my kid there and buy I big house nearby. Hell, life is so short.
"Schools from all around the country"
*Only shows schools from New England and NY
These schools are social networking sites! A way to keep the rich kid's amongst themselves.
THEY HAVE MORE REASORCES THAN NORMAL SCHOOLS
Of course! The purpose of wealth is to consolidate and pass down more wealth to successive generations.
The real separation and social difficulties come's in elite colleges. They are brutal with their clicks, segregation, and 0stracization.
It's funny most outsiders think those schools are about the education you receive and not the lifetime network you build (or avoid)...
Nobody:
Idiots: if covid is 19 then it can’t legally touch me
This is pure genius
To be honest, the public school I went to in eastern CT wasn’t too bad.
We had great electives and extracurricular activities.
Who else was expecting a school like Constance from gossip girl
Everyone can go to highschool for free in America too. These people just decided to pay for private education.
It’s fascinating to me that so many of these are all-boys schools.
2:32 It actually stands for Media Literacy, Ethics , Sociology, and History.
You could do another list.
and Hotchkiss
5:54 spotted Ableton!
Former UK? Wondering why he said that. Lived here in the UK all my life and it’s still very much the UK.
Comparing these campuses to mine which was literally built to be a prison and it’s in Connecticut
You missed BROOKS SCHOOL in NORTH ANDOVER MASSACHUSETTS
These schools are nothing compared to the prestigious Shuchiin Academy where the Shinomiya daughter studies.
I hate how only rich kids deserve a good education to so many ppl that this has been a reality for centuries.
Nothing beats homeschool!
1:1 education tailorde to the individual child! Cant get any better.
Teach your kids to do their share so they become hard working individuals who know the value of life skills and work
@@bmona7550 exactly thats part of homeschooling learning to be an adult
No unless ur child is going to be working alone. Collaboration and Presentation skills is a must and homeschooled kids don’t tend to be the best at these.
And my Engineering college fees for last semester was around 2$. And I'm not kidding.
You must have studied at an Indian government college
There's only really good schools and bad schools. In bad schools you just have to learn at home and the classes are watered down so much that it's so easy to pass, but then when they go to college, they start to struggle. Good schools are tough and you graduate feeling like you're average but do pretty well in college/university.
Or you go to an elite school where everyone is A+ and top of the world so you're just average.
I went to Glenalmond college in Scotland for 3 years of schooling, was absolutely amazing, met a lot of long term friends some still are 😂 little cheaper than some on this list but still expensive.
I spent a summer in Le Rosey for a boarding summer camp - great school and campus tbh, everyone there is super friendly :)
That one school where each kid has a personal councelor...... imagine paying mad money just for kids to get mental health help;... no seriously......
Schooltrip to antarctic, I love it! 😂
