I had the idea to fuse my Vietnamese inspired char siu marinade with pork belly as burnt ends and figured I should see if someone else had done it. Of course! They look PHENOMENAL, better than I even imagined! I’ll be doing this before summer ends for sure!

This has just gone down a storm in my house. I finished it off by sprinkling it with sesame seeds. Nice one White Thunder.

Beauty looking char siu right here. Wooooooooo!!!!!!
I would say that I use red food color about 75% of the time when I make char siu, I really like how it brightens up look. Sure, it's not required, I know that there are a lot of folks that are anti food color, but makes no difference for me. Been thinking about making this lately. I last made it for Chinese New Year a few months ago. Thanks for the motivation, I have some pork belly in the freezer.
    RTFO!!! GB🤘

I tend to be able to taste the food coloring.... only reason I don't use it. Can't stand cake with colored frosting. Thanks gb!!

I've been walking right on by Beef Brisket lately ~ i'll tell ya a secret about brisket. Wait until July ! They really cut the prices down. Rite now i get more bang from my bucks, getting Shrimp, Fish, Thick T Bones, thick NY Strips, or Pork Roast like you did ~ I can always get a deer, had 1 looking me eye to eye the other morning, threw my window. I sure was licking my chops. But my freezer is full ~ Burnt ends is always good. 👍

Nate my good friend, outstanding recipe, looks delicious, this is another cut of meat that was nearly given away appx, 120 yrs ago along with bacon, ham hocks, beef brisket, all were considered cheap cuts & no good, now they all rank up with the most expensive cuts in price. I'm 58 & I can remember when I was young, the butcher would give away brisket, oxtail, etc.., for the dogs, cause folks didn't know to cook it low & slow. God bless you & yours, btw, I almost wish folks didn't learn how to cook/smoke/grill these cuts of meat, lol.

@@WhiteThunderBBQ yw pal, $5.99 lb. Here, & the companies got slick, on nearly every package of bacon it is 12 ounces & not 16 ounces

I think I will give it a try. Sadly my local store sells pork belly cut into strips. But I see whole every once in awhile.

Yeah Nate thats nice, its probably sold at Chinese restaurants for quite a bit. People might get intimidated cooking it at home as you showed can be done easily.

    • @WhiteThunderBBQ

Thanks a bunch Mayhem!! Yeah anything that takes like 7 hours to cook at a restaurant is going to be super pricey. Probably at least $15 a lb. Cheers my friend!
