crappy players always ruin any good feature. But we've had too many seasons that catered to them and now they're the majority of the playerbase. Unfort.
If the block option would make it so we don't pair up with said player NEVER AGAIN it would solve the problem. The option in there but it only makes them unable to send you friend requests and that doesn't solve anything. By literally making that player not play ever again on the same team, we would have a perfect solution against trolls/noobs.
It would be awesome to see these players literally not be able to play because every teammate they've had has blocked them. It pisses me off how there is legit played out there that purposely troll and try hard to lose matches.
@@Fabio-ji9ve i feel like its been consistent rn more then ever me being a 65% ranked win rate player wiith well over 1000 games solo que get paired up with 45% wr players or people with 120 games almost every game who just farm jungle even tho they dont call it and then back cap just to die and int experience, and trio/duo queues who regradless take jungle and lane with their queued teammates not rotating once, ive given into the fact that if the're someone ( almost every teammate) that has a lower mmr rating than me or any duo/trio queue id jungle regardless if they do the same and just look for last hits, the majority of the times i jungle the game's like a cake walk. they should either ban anyone below 50% win rate from ranking up or set up barriers for the low mmr players from invading jungle thats the only solution i see rn. even got my main acc with over 5000 games and 61% wr account banned for 100 years just for talking on the mic and telling players to stop inting 😭

But nooooooo, we have to CARRY these kind of people to Masters with us (yes, because most of them can't win a game by direct influence) and keep having a below par gaming experience due to it. Man I miss draft this season. I’m 1600 masters and I’ve had 5 draft games. I like the diversity and strategy of draft. Assault vest and curse items are so much better into draft than blind pick
@@dlgarnercounter picking pokemon. Extreme speed Lucario is great into failinks, but I'm not going to play it if I don't know I'm avoiding heavy cc or facing failinks. Banning strong pokemon. I once even had someone ban eldegoss when I killed the previous game with it. Which was kinda cool to see someone notice. I've actually seen teammates switch to a better role when we need it a lot more often.

For me that is the most important reason of why draft sucks… In a regular game I am ALWAYS open to fill whatever role the team needs, but in a Draft I’m usually 1st or 2nd to pick which I “have” to pick the meta pokemon so that the enemy team can’t get them… And them we end up with a bad composition
agreed!! However, his idea to let players have bans already set up prior to queueing up in order to save time is pretty genius. I would definitely love that option.

There are a lot of reasons Unite doesn’t get taken seriously by people who play other mobas, but the ranked system has gotta be the biggest. There is absolutely 0 value to this games ranked system, and I bet the only reasons most people play it are because at a certain point its the only way you can guarantee you won’t fight bots, and because it gives more rewards. They’ve gotta find a way to incentivize casual players to play casual, unranked modes (that’s nothing against casual players of course, I’d even consider myself one). Until then though being “Master rank in Pokemon Unite” will literally be meaningless because it just means you drudged through enough games of the awful matchmaking and bots, not that you actually improved enough to be considered a knowledgeable or skilled player.
Even with all its flaws, I'll take Draft games over Blind Pick anytime... maybe because I'm used to it taking a long time because of League, and it doesn't act up on mobile, as you mentioned.
I think for draft they should do a separate game mode similar to how ranked and casual are separated. The classes (beginner - ultra) could be separate, and the master rank elo leaderboard would also be separate from the one we have now. If draft were its own separate game mode it would hopefully get rid of the people who don’t care about picking and banning, and the classes being separate from normal ranked classes would make it to where at a higher rank you won’t be matched up with a teammate that is just trying out draft for the first time.
Another feature draft should have is allowing players to see what Pokémon the opposing team has after the pick/ban phase. It’s a small thing, but would be very helpful for item and build selection (like putting on curse items).
@@-w0rdz-30 yeah i dont think showing the held items helps. there are still alot of player using random held item like in my last match we got a cinderace using shell bell choise and slick spoon. if your opponent see that they will surely bully that lane.
@@alperchil8106 that was not what I meant with my comment. To clarify, I meant being able to see what Pokémon the opposing team selected in a draft game once everyone has selected their Pokémon. Currently, you are only able to see your team’s Pokémon and items before the game. My thought was something similar to online battles in the mainline Pokémon games, in which you can see what Pokémon your opponent has on their team - no item info, just the species of the Pokémon. I think this would help so that I don’t have to remember if the opposing team had a healer or not.

Draft is only bad because the ranked system is bad. It actually works quite well but when you have low skill players in high master lobbies you are going to get a low skill draft result.
i 100% agree with this and kinda said something similar, *_but!_* i also think even if by some miracle they fixed matchmaking system, the other changes that spragels talks about would still be very necessary. e.g.: having a stable version of the game that doesn't make half the players crash on every draft game, and maybe *_not_* having the highest-elo players be first pick b/c that's a garbage mechanic even if everyone on the team was high skill

i started to play the game starting this season only and i have a total of 299 games out of which 256 are ranked and i already climbed up to Master 1427 points lol literally ranked is a joke, if you have any moba knowledge from other games this game is like a tutorial, the current master 1600 is probably like gold rank master 1400 is like silver and master 1200 is bronze anything before master should be considered standard and not ranked literally same level of play as playing standard no difference so compared to other mobas that have another 6 more ranks after gold this has to be a joke 😂😂
I feel like the problem is the game doesn’t promote ranked as well ranked or somehow different from standard matches. I’d love a forced tutorial for ranked showing players how to play the game competitively. hey an objective spawned go here or hey it’s 2:30 start going to the Ray pit. Etc.
i mean, a huge majority of the player base still goes for ranked even when they absolutely should be sticking to standard only until their skills improve, but yeah, at the very least there should be a forced tutorial for ranked & draft.

I like what Jake said at the end having a split ranked mode one with draft and one without, might help. Another option is that the first 10 games of every season determine your rank to start each season. Good players will rank high ultra every season, while bad players and AFKs will rank low vet at best, giving them a longer grind to get to the top.
Jake you said exactly what I was thinking with the first person to ban. I have often banned the wrong Pokemon because my menu lag was so bad I couldn’t move to the desired Pokemon in time, which is very annoying. I don’t understand why menus lag so much, menus should not require much in the way of cpu resources. I imagine it has taken everyone a bit of time to work out who to ban. The OP meta Pokemon is the obvious choice, but then it took me a while to figure out that the counterpick to who you want to play is also a good choice. Apart from that, I personally love draft. I love being able to see the enemy has picked Zoroark, so I pick sing wiggly to shut them down, or if the enemy picks trevenant I could pick barrier mime etc
Yesterday i solo qued into a draft full team of gold badges, the whole game we had one destroyed goal for each team, no team got ray, and it ended with just over 200 points scored winning by 20. The most balanced match ive ever had. What a blast
I didn't know draft tutorial even existed until you tell in the video. If the players with many games played doesn't know it existed, there is not a single chance players who don't watch guides will find it on their own. And these are the players who need it the most.
They should have a separate ranked/draft mode were you get to preselect roles and lane and the game would put you with people forming multiple different types of comps that work whether it's a different role for each person or a double def or support based comp while at the same time preventing players in that mode from choosing roles they weren't assigned to in te beginning from their preferred roles and lanes and their could be a more custom version of this in 5s
As a main supporter/defender, it's really frustrating to be in teams of only attackers and all-rounders I can't be at all places and my lane with two attackers gets demolished minute by minute 😅
A good solution would probably be to increase the skill ceiling, an easy way of doing this would probably be by improving the ranked match making system, i feel like people get carried too often by players who have higher ranks than them (Example: master players carrying ultra class players, etc) which causes it to be very easy for people in low ranks into high ones, another thing they could change is probably how the star gaining system works, I feel like having a bar that both gives you stars and protects them as well makes it super easy for people to rank up tweaking it might help a bit so master below players stay at master below until there skill level increases
gotta love when someone on my team is someone i played against in the game before and they purposely ban the pokémon you did well with despite now us being on the same team.
Draft should be like the pick/ban in rainbow six siege. It's not included in standard mode, but is immediately available in ranked play. If you introduce players to the mechanic early on, they'll learn and understand the picks/bans and it just makes them overall more competitive over time. If they don't like it, they'll leave ranked and only play standard. Win-win for everyone!
100% if you don't like competitive playstyles like draft then go play norms. If you want to play charizard every match, do it in norms. If you want a 5 Attacker comp do it in norms. When those people leave, the competitive environment will be so much better. Oh and ban EX pokemon from ranked as well.
I really liked draft. I think when it was at 1200 it was at its peak. I feel like draft benefitted players that could play multiple characters, because it shows the skill levels of the player being able to use multiple pokemon. It shows who was weak on both teams. If the person that really like Zera, couldn’t choose Zera I would try to pick on them 😅
Unite just needs easier access to more mons so every player can have a ban, not limit two players per team to removing threats. Also, sometimes rather than banning what the meta is, i'd much rather ban a major counter to my mains like banning Blaziken to play Falinks. Unite also has the issue of being a competitive game marketed to a casual playerbase, and being too easy to climb to the highest rank. Edit: fixing Unite's menus would make Draft much faster, bc half the time you're waiting for the menu to work

Im a brawl stars player where we have a really perfect draft system. My bud and i were playing unite when we suddenly got draft we had no clue about, yet managed to fill in the roles and win by a great margin. That was possibly the best match i had ever played. All players knew where to go and how to fight for objectives. Coming back to Brawl stars, it has a draft system in ranked after a particular rank, but most players dont play ranked. Yes, the standard matches provides trophies for winning which is also a great way to judge someone's skill. But unite standard matches are just bots. No point in playing standard
Def agree with a lot of these points- the big ones being fixing matchmaking + making games a bit easier/less laggy. This season has been infinitely more miserable since Draft doesn't exist at all in ranked. I've played quite a few games past the 1400 mark this season... and have hit 4 draft games all season. It's made the game worse because there's 0 reason to adapt or adjust since you're stuck at random teams that make for fun picks very miserable, since the Dodrio pick into Slowbro Umbreon + bunch of all rounders is just as unfun as the Decidueye into 3 divers, (and your team picked 0 tanks) unplayable mess. Draft just needs to exist. I think the idea of letting players pick is interesting but I think it would destroy queue times in that IF there is a sizeable number of difference in one queue or the other, the game either would never find games OR would forcibly mix the two groups. That opens up the issue of who gets the default, the drafters or the anti-draft people. That causes a lot more animosity since both sides would be very angry to be placed in games they couldn't be in. I think this is a good idea but use it to motivate people to play normals. Make all of ranked draft, and the people who wanna spend 10k games on Charizard only, and nothing else they can play normal mode, and all of the people who want to take the game competitively get better games in draft because now normals has a reason to be played for everyone who doesn't want draft. Role lockouts could also be a thing. I think it would be hard to implement and a shame because it would cause problems, but frankly until the matchmaking improves, role lockouts (plus incentives) would do a lot to help as well. But role selection is just before games, pick 2 roles (or fill) and the game places you in one of those roles. Sometimes (20% of games you will get a role you didn't ask for or if queue times go too long) and draft goes as normal. Another version could be locking certain mons to certain roles, and let's say if 3 Attacker/Speedster/All Rounders are picked, the remaining 2 people are forced into picking support or defender. They'd get the resources to do so such as a level 30 exp share that's attached to said mon. but this also could help the game.
the thing is ranked should ALWAYS be draft and casual should be blind pick... in real mobas casual plebs who want to just have fun play standard mode and dont play ranked simple as that... also in other games ranked is gated behind reaching a certain point... for example we could make it so ranked only unlock for accounts that reach lv 30 and have 14+ pokemon unlocked etc and ALL RANKED should be draft not blind pick lol, this is why standard and ranked feels like the exact same thing in unite because it is the same fricking thing there is absolutely no difference other than one giving you a rank that is useless a master 1400 player plays the same as a super low rank player they not any better they stil troll pick 2 junglers and not even capitalize on 2 jungler by invading nope... they fight each other on who to steal the camps isntead of stealing it from enemy jungler or going to lane instead lol
Draft should be the default for ranked. It forces better play and casual players are more incentivised to either get better or go to Standard/Casual matches instead. We also need a functioning block system to remove players who you know you don't like playing with
I have two things to say about this: First, I'm a low end phone user which means in draft it takes slightly longer time to load the draft pick screen, which concerns me especially if I'm the first ban Second, yes I found the draft pick tutorial before draft pick came to the game without anyone telling me, and up until I type this comment the illustration on that specific tutorial shows the first concept of draft pick where you and your team vote for a ban per team
We need a Global Reset in Ranked so Everyone can just be at Beginners and we gotta Make it up the Line all the way up to Masters again just like Season 1 Vets did like me
They should just make you lock in a role. Defender, Attacker, supporter, speedster League, overwatch, dota, all those games do that might lengthen the q a bit but shorten the draft and make decent comps
vet is still an ok rank to rank up but if get to ultra you need to ready your stress pills on hand specialy if your almost to master you will get alot of noob that like to farm the whole game
Apart from your suggestions the biggest issue I’ve seen is people grind all the way to 1400 still 20+ games in and they don’t get a single draft and once they get that draft game it’s already too late cause the players lose interest after a while once you’re 1400 there needs to be a system where u can only q with players near 1400 or higher and make draft games more consistent
Draft in all of masters= annoying, your team griefs you, bad team comps Draft at 1400 masters= exciting, team is usually solid enough to pick a decent team composition
good points.. but the most time wasting at the ban is after pick.. i hope they just give few seconds to do final adjust.. mostly it doesnt needed for casual players
I've been saying this, the game needs a role queue. A standardized role queue meaning in every game there will be 3 damage and let's say 1 tank and 1 support. How would they implement this? Have players pick a role (or a flex option) before finding a game and queue up that way. Similar to hiw overwatch does it. They could even insentivise tank/support/all roles through extra battlepass experience or even battle point experience towards ribbons. I wholeheartedly think this would be a major win for not only draft, but all modes of play.

I honestly never thought I would stop playing Unite but early June I stopped playing it and havent touched it since. There is so much wrong with this game. The game doesnt punish bad plays/players, they keep getting away with horrible decisions. Meanwhile, good plays and good players do not get rewarded at all in any way. Draft is messed up, getting first pick is actually bad, people dont know how it works. Idk this game feels so unprofessional.
draft sucked imo, i dont wanna sit in queue for 5 minutes for a 10 min game, i also dont want random mons to be banned by lowest mmr players, i dont wanna get countered cause im first pick since i have really high mmr (60% wr all time and 70% this season) and i also wanna play the mons that i like rather than be forced to play things i dont like. people saying bad players dont like draft, i always have at least 60% wr every season and i dont use broken mons at all and this season i have 70% wr, im not a bad player by any means but i still hate draft. it punises good players, if anything it favors bad players by giving them bans and last picks to counter top picks

I like draft but I know most of the player base don't have a functional brain so before it was announced I knew it was going to be too much for them. I though it before and even know that maybe it's better if they only give one or two bans to the highest MMR soloQ player of the team and that's it, not too complicated for those glue eaters that I get as lowest MMR teammates.

One of the most important things I want is to, before pokemon select even occurs, I want role select like in League of legends, (Top, top2, mid, Bot, bot2) Because I am sick of people not filling in their role, if you want to do off meta stuff, like 3 bot lane, do it with a pre made of 5, we should not have to handle games, where people take forever to select a role, or not at all, then head to force themselves into a lane or into jungle for personal preferences unwilling to adapt to first call first serve methods in match making lobbies. Also ALL Ranked games need draft mode, I do not like the other format, due to the prior reasons I just discussed. It makes match making better over all.
@@Cirex2118 yeah it wont work in unite player still pick what they want. i played alot of draft some think they can troll pick and change it after picking and end up asking to switch pokemon. there are alot of player like to show off how many pokemon they have but that wont work in draft once you pick you cant change pokemon unless someone is willing to swap with you.
@alperchil8106 It mitigates harm. If they intentionally do get reported for this type of trolling, taking a roll when they specify their original roles before pokemon select even occurs within the matchmaking lobby, not pokemon select/ban draft lobby, they should have a week ban. It's that simple.

The resposiveness of the ui... or lack there of... I think is the biggest hurdle to most things unite for me anyways. I don't know if its the hardware or the game being poorly optimized, cause like... some games run pretty well on the switch... and that made me pretty hesitant to be excited about draft cause the last thing I want is more menu interaction in this hellscape ui. The ui is a bit more responsive on mobile... but only a little really.
If they gave higher rewards for playing support or tank it would make more people want to play them. 5-10 rp for a win on attacker/speedster/all arounder and a 12-18 rp hike for tank/support would give people incentive.
As a defender main, I support this message. Instead the game is incentivized to play Attacker. Easy to score and do big damage means it's easier to get MVP in the algorithm compared to taking big damage and locking enemy threats down.
I use to play a game called paladin ranked mode which only had draft mode and they made it where each team gets 30 secs to pick there entire 5 man team if you took to long it either kicks you and bans you for an small amount of time to reque
As a Casual player I would love to simply not play in draft games. It's a neat feature for highly competitive players. But for people that just want to play a casual game without having to investigate what is meta, it would be nice to not be forced in to draft
They should either make the highest ranked players pick last so they can take the carries, or randomize pick/ban order completely. At least if it’s random we won’t get the current bias of “the lowest ranked player gets to decide the ban”

Draft has been okay for me. It used to crash my game in tourney mode before it was implemented in rank but hasn’t happened but maybe once since for me. Other than the slowness I think I like it okay. But it forces me to grind ribbons in casuals of course.
The problem is that the two worst players on your team gets to ban and counterpick... Besides that, ranked is in unite the standard mode People with zero knowledge and 500 battles getting in my lobbys

as much as i don't believe people should be able to rank up without draft, spragels does make a good point that forcing people who don't want to rank into it just makes the match terrible for everyone. So the option to opt out is 100% a must.
I know about Map Help. I didn't know about Draft Pick Map Help.. Bcuz I need as much prep as possible before I jump in. I saw it flipping maps and quick battle modes(since it never remembers or sets you to the daily quick battle available), I hit plus, and it was very helpful. For standard/quick battles. I don't expect anybody else to need this information to jump in. ESPECIALLY if it's located in custom battle where you need 9 other ppl for it. Who has nine ppl they know and are friends with who play unite. Not me.
The lack of draft tutorial I think is a killer. As soon as a player reaches master rank, they should be brought to a bot game and draft tutorial. It's ridiculous, but I honestly love the idea of draft.
I like the concept of draft, helps with item choices and building around/against enemies its fun. I feel it should be availible earlier and optional for those who dont want draft. Also give us more ways to get aeos coins, it shouldnt take you potential months to get a new mon. That way we have more options to pick if you do play draft.
Even i want to sometimes instantly lock in a pokemon like decidueye. I would love to play in the casual mode in a situation like this but you just get bot games. The thing is draft is made up for serious matches, but sometimes we want to play casually but you kinda dont have that option. This leads to bad drafts. They need to make the standard mode interesting so that players play it. So making players either not get draft completely or get a draft every match is not ideal in the current state of the game. If casual matches were a thing, things would have been much better.
I think you're on to something with the separate queues. Like, what if there was an option to play with draft pick in a more competitive setting? We could call it "Ranked" or "Competitive". And then there could be an option for people who want to play a more casual game without draft pick! .... -_- Seriously though, I wish Unite made a more wholehearted attempt at implementing draft pick, and just applied it to Ranked as a whole
Everytime i bring this up in various other locations the only excuse i read is that those not part of the various communities are larger than those that are, and when they were asked to fill in the survey they probably answered to get rid of it, and they also wanted to play more casually. (I dont believe that though). But in case if its so, than maybe its time those many casual players that dont want it should be redirected to Normal games, and Timi should adress the many trolls that haunt that place. Maybe ban phase could be faster as well, a 30 second time frame where the teams suggest bans, than the system will pick 4 of those either depending on most requested bans or failing that bans suggested by highest rated players. Each player can select up to 2 ban suggestions.
I think majority vote per ban would be best but that's easily exploited by duos/trios. Had they made it so they only play with other duos/trios/5-stacks, there'd be no problem whatsoever.
One annoying thing about draft is that sometimes our teammates doesn’t pick anything to ban in draft. And vice versa with the opposing team. And sometimes they ban Pokémon which are so random you wonder if they’re really a wolf in sheep’s clothing
Draft play should be for all ranks! It sucks it is just in Masters. I mean it might help get you to Masters if you can each pick and ban a Pokémon. I mean if you are already in Masters why do you care as much. You already reached top tier.
if they add that idea abt pre picking the pokemons u want to ban, it would def reduce time but will create 1 more prob. If u and ofc many other ppl picked a pokemon to be banned, and then next patch it gets a heavy nerf, i m pretty sure that most players wont remove that pokemon from ban list
Draft is indeed a mixed bag for me. Last season people almost always picked a Pokemon that is or would be a problem for our team which was great. Some people also didn't pick a mon at all for ban phase. In pick phase, people would and still often just sit there and let the timer go down for their pokemon of choice. But my main problem, even if it makes sense is when I can't pick a mon when the other team has it. >:[
Ok bad players are one thing but c'mon a tutorial Hidden in a mode no one uses and within a secret function no one knows about. That's just an outright bad design for a major game change within the rank system.
I actually reached the draft tutorial without anyone telling me that it existed. I saw the draft tutorial image but as a "leak" that made some facebook people think that it would be a new implementation. But then when I was training with Tsareena, without anyone telling me anything , I found the tutorial already inside of the game, lol.
I literally carry at least 70% of my games. Its insane. Im mic banned over 168 hours just because i calmly ask for help or try to coach the team. The problem with draft mode in unite is that unite pretends to be a moba when it barely passes as a multiplayer diablo on mobile, so when adding moba mechanics on it, it feels wonky. For people who actually play mobas draft is ESSENTIAL when it comes to competitive plays that it doesn't matter if it takes long cause it matters. But since unite is the tiktok of mobas where its needs to be short and quick, it doesn't work as well.
I think its more of a player issue, cuz the game just lets the bad players climb I had many matches playing trioq were me and my friends were playing: supporter, defender, attacker/all rounder, and my 2 randoms just insta locked stuff like cinder, garde, greninja on lane Plus, I like the way draft starts, only the preparations screen could be shorter And also, i've never seen that custom game draft tutorial xD
Draft mode shpuld allow your teammates to vote for what they want banned before the player makes a choice so they can see common vans before locking in Scizor for no reason.
I haven't played sense Mewtwo X and Mewtwo Y release so I don't know whats different and such. Would having lane/role que be a bad thing? Like you que support/Tank or Tank/All Rounder, so then it'd help teams be more well rounded? Or would position/Que role be better, like you que Top/Jungle or Bottom/Top. Again I haven't played sense Mewtwo X/Y so I don't know whats in the game and such for these ideas if possible
When I was new player. I got to know about the draft tutorial when I was searching in which quick mode drednaw spawns for the achievements through map help and I sort of found out how to play the infamous draft. I like draft but, as spragels said there are way too many clueless players like heck at my side there always that one deci player who will go afk as soon as the match starts just because he didn't got the jungle then, there was that super greninja player who will always wipe your whole team out cleanly 😂 Unite is a mess right now.
I think they should change ranking system , It is so easy to get into masters they should add another rank for like top 10,000 players in server and they should get draft . This makes situation better because casual players gets non draft matches which are faster. Then 10,000 players with some understanding get draft games which takes more time but competitive games, And also gives a reason to grind after reaching masters.
If someone doesn't ban, put it to the next up on the list. So if 5th doesnt, 4th does, then it goes to third, and general bans they've picked. If someone doesn't ban, you also have the 'picked by group default choices' option as you list. That way, if 2/3 folks have a common mon ban, it defaults to that if someone doesn't pick. Keeps the dual ban option. Have them set this up in ranked before they queue in at a certain point, masters, or 1200. So that when it pops, there is a set, okay, heres how it goes when you get one. And tough timis on being top. Thats standard league matters. You are the carry by skill. Your first/second picks are players that are going to get counter-picked in matters, or just banned, or however many ways that exist in league that force you to play better. If im on the bottom/right, i know im the weak link, and not going to be doing well/Ko'd alot, or just struggling, it sucks. I don't really let it get to me, im not the carry there that needs to win it not me. Its 1st and 2nd place.

crappy players always ruin any good feature. But we've had too many seasons that catered to them and now they're the majority of the playerbase. Unfort.
If the block option would make it so we don't pair up with said player NEVER AGAIN it would solve the problem. The option in there but it only makes them unable to send you friend requests and that doesn't solve anything. By literally making that player not play ever again on the same team, we would have a perfect solution against trolls/noobs.
It would be awesome to see these players literally not be able to play because every teammate they've had has blocked them. It pisses me off how there is legit played out there that purposely troll and try hard to lose matches.
@@Fabio-ji9ve i feel like its been consistent rn more then ever me being a 65% ranked win rate player wiith well over 1000 games solo que get paired up with 45% wr players or people with 120 games almost every game who just farm jungle even tho they dont call it and then back cap just to die and int experience, and trio/duo queues who regradless take jungle and lane with their queued teammates not rotating once, ive given into the fact that if the're someone ( almost every teammate) that has a lower mmr rating than me or any duo/trio queue id jungle regardless if they do the same and just look for last hits, the majority of the times i jungle the game's like a cake walk. they should either ban anyone below 50% win rate from ranking up or set up barriers for the low mmr players from invading jungle thats the only solution i see rn. even got my main acc with over 5000 games and 61% wr account banned for 100 years just for talking on the mic and telling players to stop inting 😭

Banning strong pokemon. I once even had someone ban eldegoss when I killed the previous game with it. Which was kinda cool to see someone notice.

For me that is the most important reason of why draft sucks… In a regular game I am ALWAYS open to fill whatever role the team needs, but in a Draft I’m usually 1st or 2nd to pick which I “have” to pick the meta pokemon so that the enemy team can’t get them… And them we end up with a bad composition

There are a lot of reasons Unite doesn’t get taken seriously by people who play other mobas, but the ranked system has gotta be the biggest. There is absolutely 0 value to this games ranked system, and I bet the only reasons most people play it are because at a certain point its the only way you can guarantee you won’t fight bots, and because it gives more rewards. They’ve gotta find a way to incentivize casual players to play casual, unranked modes (that’s nothing against casual players of course, I’d even consider myself one). Until then though being “Master rank in Pokemon Unite” will literally be meaningless because it just means you drudged through enough games of the awful matchmaking and bots, not that you actually improved enough to be considered a knowledgeable or skilled player.
Even with all its flaws, I'll take Draft games over Blind Pick anytime... maybe because I'm used to it taking a long time because of League, and it doesn't act up on mobile, as you mentioned.

I think for draft they should do a separate game mode similar to how ranked and casual are separated. The classes (beginner - ultra) could be separate, and the master rank elo leaderboard would also be separate from the one we have now. If draft were its own separate game mode it would hopefully get rid of the people who don’t care about picking and banning, and the classes being separate from normal ranked classes would make it to where at a higher rank you won’t be matched up with a teammate that is just trying out draft for the first time.
Another feature draft should have is allowing players to see what Pokémon the opposing team has after the pick/ban phase. It’s a small thing, but would be very helpful for item and build selection (like putting on curse items).
@@-w0rdz-30 yeah i dont think showing the held items helps. there are still alot of player using random held item like in my last match we got a cinderace using shell bell choise and slick spoon. if your opponent see that they will surely bully that lane.
@@alperchil8106 that was not what I meant with my comment. To clarify, I meant being able to see what Pokémon the opposing team selected in a draft game once everyone has selected their Pokémon. Currently, you are only able to see your team’s Pokémon and items before the game. My thought was something similar to online battles in the mainline Pokémon games, in which you can see what Pokémon your opponent has on their team - no item info, just the species of the Pokémon. I think this would help so that I don’t have to remember if the opposing team had a healer or not.

Draft is only bad because the ranked system is bad.
It actually works quite well but when you have low skill players in high master lobbies you are going to get a low skill draft result.

i started to play the game starting this season only and i have a total of 299 games out of which 256 are ranked and i already climbed up to Master 1427 points lol literally ranked is a joke, if you have any moba knowledge from other games this game is like a tutorial, the current master 1600 is probably like gold rank master 1400 is like silver and master 1200 is bronze anything before master should be considered standard and not ranked literally same level of play as playing standard no difference so compared to other mobas that have another 6 more ranks after gold this has to be a joke 😂😂
I feel like the problem is the game doesn’t promote ranked as well ranked or somehow different from standard matches. I’d love a forced tutorial for ranked showing players how to play the game competitively. hey an objective spawned go here or hey it’s 2:30 start going to the Ray pit. Etc.
i mean, a huge majority of the player base still goes for ranked even when they absolutely should be sticking to standard only until their skills improve, but yeah, at the very least there should be a forced tutorial for ranked & draft.

but the max account lv is 50 so what if ranked only opened at account lv 25 or 30 this way the noob newbies would stick to playing standard up til then so by the time they can access ranked they hopefully have more skill and as ranked draft said at least have 14 pokemons bought/unlocked in their account before being allowed to play ranked at all
I like what Jake said at the end having a split ranked mode one with draft and one without, might help. Another option is that the first 10 games of every season determine your rank to start each season. Good players will rank high ultra every season, while bad players and AFKs will rank low vet at best, giving them a longer grind to get to the top.
Jake you said exactly what I was thinking with the first person to ban. I have often banned the wrong Pokemon because my menu lag was so bad I couldn’t move to the desired Pokemon in time, which is very annoying. I don’t understand why menus lag so much, menus should not require much in the way of cpu resources.
I imagine it has taken everyone a bit of time to work out who to ban. The OP meta Pokemon is the obvious choice, but then it took me a while to figure out that the counterpick to who you want to play is also a good choice.
Apart from that, I personally love draft. I love being able to see the enemy has picked Zoroark, so I pick sing wiggly to shut them down, or if the enemy picks trevenant I could pick barrier mime etc
Yesterday i solo qued into a draft full team of gold badges, the whole game we had one destroyed goal for each team, no team got ray, and it ended with just over 200 points scored winning by 20. The most balanced match ive ever had. What a blast
I didn't know draft tutorial even existed until you tell in the video. If the players with many games played doesn't know it existed, there is not a single chance players who don't watch guides will find it on their own. And these are the players who need it the most.
They should have a separate ranked/draft mode were you get to preselect roles and lane and the game would put you with people forming multiple different types of comps that work whether it's a different role for each person or a double def or support based comp while at the same time preventing players in that mode from choosing roles they weren't assigned to in te beginning from their preferred roles and lanes and their could be a more custom version of this in 5s
As a main supporter/defender, it's really frustrating to be in teams of only attackers and all-rounders I can't be at all places and my lane with two attackers gets demolished minute by minute 😅
A good solution would probably be to increase the skill ceiling, an easy way of doing this would probably be by improving the ranked match making system, i feel like people get carried too often by players who have higher ranks than them (Example: master players carrying ultra class players, etc) which causes it to be very easy for people in low ranks into high ones, another thing they could change is probably how the star gaining system works, I feel like having a bar that both gives you stars and protects them as well makes it super easy for people to rank up tweaking it might help a bit so master below players stay at master below until there skill level increases

Draft should be like the pick/ban in rainbow six siege. It's not included in standard mode, but is immediately available in ranked play.
If you introduce players to the mechanic early on, they'll learn and understand the picks/bans and it just makes them overall more competitive over time.
If they don't like it, they'll leave ranked and only play standard. Win-win for everyone!
100% if you don't like competitive playstyles like draft then go play norms. If you want to play charizard every match, do it in norms. If you want a 5 Attacker comp do it in norms. When those people leave, the competitive environment will be so much better. Oh and ban EX pokemon from ranked as well.
I really liked draft. I think when it was at 1200 it was at its peak. I feel like draft benefitted players that could play multiple characters, because it shows the skill levels of the player being able to use multiple pokemon. It shows who was weak on both teams. If the person that really like Zera, couldn’t choose Zera I would try to pick on them 😅
Unite just needs easier access to more mons so every player can have a ban, not limit two players per team to removing threats.
Also, sometimes rather than banning what the meta is, i'd much rather ban a major counter to my mains like banning Blaziken to play Falinks.
Unite also has the issue of being a competitive game marketed to a casual playerbase, and being too easy to climb to the highest rank.
Edit: fixing Unite's menus would make Draft much faster, bc half the time you're waiting for the menu to work
You can't give everyone a ban. What if one team bans all but one tank or supporter and then picks it? Huge disadvantage

Im a brawl stars player where we have a really perfect draft system. My bud and i were playing unite when we suddenly got draft we had no clue about, yet managed to fill in the roles and win by a great margin. That was possibly the best match i had ever played. All players knew where to go and how to fight for objectives.
Coming back to Brawl stars, it has a draft system in ranked after a particular rank, but most players dont play ranked. Yes, the standard matches provides trophies for winning which is also a great way to judge someone's skill. But unite standard matches are just bots. No point in playing standard
Def agree with a lot of these points- the big ones being fixing matchmaking + making games a bit easier/less laggy.
This season has been infinitely more miserable since Draft doesn't exist at all in ranked. I've played quite a few games past the 1400 mark this season... and have hit 4 draft games all season. It's made the game worse because there's 0 reason to adapt or adjust since you're stuck at random teams that make for fun picks very miserable, since the Dodrio pick into Slowbro Umbreon + bunch of all rounders is just as unfun as the Decidueye into 3 divers, (and your team picked 0 tanks) unplayable mess.
Draft just needs to exist. I think the idea of letting players pick is interesting but I think it would destroy queue times in that IF there is a sizeable number of difference in one queue or the other, the game either would never find games OR would forcibly mix the two groups. That opens up the issue of who gets the default, the drafters or the anti-draft people. That causes a lot more animosity since both sides would be very angry to be placed in games they couldn't be in.
I think this is a good idea but use it to motivate people to play normals. Make all of ranked draft, and the people who wanna spend 10k games on Charizard only, and nothing else they can play normal mode, and all of the people who want to take the game competitively get better games in draft because now normals has a reason to be played for everyone who doesn't want draft.
Role lockouts could also be a thing. I think it would be hard to implement and a shame because it would cause problems, but frankly until the matchmaking improves, role lockouts (plus incentives) would do a lot to help as well. But role selection is just before games, pick 2 roles (or fill) and the game places you in one of those roles. Sometimes (20% of games you will get a role you didn't ask for or if queue times go too long) and draft goes as normal. Another version could be locking certain mons to certain roles, and let's say if 3 Attacker/Speedster/All Rounders are picked, the remaining 2 people are forced into picking support or defender. They'd get the resources to do so such as a level 30 exp share that's attached to said mon. but this also could help the game.
the thing is ranked should ALWAYS be draft and casual should be blind pick... in real mobas casual plebs who want to just have fun play standard mode and dont play ranked simple as that... also in other games ranked is gated behind reaching a certain point... for example we could make it so ranked only unlock for accounts that reach lv 30 and have 14+ pokemon unlocked etc and ALL RANKED should be draft not blind pick lol, this is why standard and ranked feels like the exact same thing in unite because it is the same fricking thing there is absolutely no difference other than one giving you a rank that is useless a master 1400 player plays the same as a super low rank player they not any better they stil troll pick 2 junglers and not even capitalize on 2 jungler by invading nope... they fight each other on who to steal the camps isntead of stealing it from enemy jungler or going to lane instead lol
Draft should be the default for ranked. It forces better play and casual players are more incentivised to either get better or go to Standard/Casual matches instead.
We also need a functioning block system to remove players who you know you don't like playing with

First, I'm a low end phone user which means in draft it takes slightly longer time to load the draft pick screen, which concerns me especially if I'm the first ban
Second, yes I found the draft pick tutorial before draft pick came to the game without anyone telling me, and up until I type this comment the illustration on that specific tutorial shows the first concept of draft pick where you and your team vote for a ban per team
We need a Global Reset in Ranked so Everyone can just be at Beginners and we gotta Make it up the Line all the way up to Masters again just like Season 1 Vets did like me

League, overwatch, dota, all those games do that might lengthen the q a bit but shorten the draft and make decent comps

I've been saying this, the game needs a role queue. A standardized role queue meaning in every game there will be 3 damage and let's say 1 tank and 1 support. How would they implement this? Have players pick a role (or a flex option) before finding a game and queue up that way. Similar to hiw overwatch does it. They could even insentivise tank/support/all roles through extra battlepass experience or even battle point experience towards ribbons. I wholeheartedly think this would be a major win for not only draft, but all modes of play.

There is so much wrong with this game. The game doesnt punish bad plays/players, they keep getting away with horrible decisions. Meanwhile, good plays and good players do not get rewarded at all in any way.
Draft is messed up, getting first pick is actually bad, people dont know how it works. Idk this game feels so unprofessional.
draft sucked imo, i dont wanna sit in queue for 5 minutes for a 10 min game, i also dont want random mons to be banned by lowest mmr players, i dont wanna get countered cause im first pick since i have really high mmr (60% wr all time and 70% this season) and i also wanna play the mons that i like rather than be forced to play things i dont like. people saying bad players dont like draft, i always have at least 60% wr every season and i dont use broken mons at all and this season i have 70% wr, im not a bad player by any means but i still hate draft. it punises good players, if anything it favors bad players by giving them bans and last picks to counter top picks

I like draft but I know most of the player base don't have a functional brain so before it was announced I knew it was going to be too much for them. I though it before and even know that maybe it's better if they only give one or two bans to the highest MMR soloQ player of the team and that's it, not too complicated for those glue eaters that I get as lowest MMR teammates.

One of the most important things I want is to, before pokemon select even occurs, I want role select like in League of legends, (Top, top2, mid, Bot, bot2) Because I am sick of people not filling in their role, if you want to do off meta stuff, like 3 bot lane, do it with a pre made of 5, we should not have to handle games, where people take forever to select a role, or not at all, then head to force themselves into a lane or into jungle for personal preferences unwilling to adapt to first call first serve methods in match making lobbies.
Also ALL Ranked games need draft mode, I do not like the other format, due to the prior reasons I just discussed. It makes match making better over all.
@@Cirex2118 yeah it wont work in unite player still pick what they want. i played alot of draft some think they can troll pick and change it after picking and end up asking to switch pokemon. there are alot of player like to show off how many pokemon they have but that wont work in draft once you pick you cant change pokemon unless someone is willing to swap with you.
@alperchil8106 It mitigates harm. If they intentionally do get reported for this type of trolling, taking a roll when they specify their original roles before pokemon select even occurs within the matchmaking lobby, not pokemon select/ban draft lobby, they should have a week ban.

@alexlehrersh9951 No one says it will magically happen or anything will improve, I am just voicing my opinions of what they should do to mitigate harm in ranked.
The resposiveness of the ui... or lack there of... I think is the biggest hurdle to most things unite for me anyways. I don't know if its the hardware or the game being poorly optimized, cause like... some games run pretty well on the switch... and that made me pretty hesitant to be excited about draft cause the last thing I want is more menu interaction in this hellscape ui. The ui is a bit more responsive on mobile... but only a little really.
If they gave higher rewards for playing support or tank it would make more people want to play them. 5-10 rp for a win on attacker/speedster/all arounder and a 12-18 rp hike for tank/support would give people incentive.
As a defender main, I support this message. Instead the game is incentivized to play Attacker. Easy to score and do big damage means it's easier to get MVP in the algorithm compared to taking big damage and locking enemy threats down.
They should make stardard mode a more visable and viable option for casual players.
I use to play a game called paladin ranked mode which only had draft mode and they made it where each team gets 30 secs to pick there entire 5 man team if you took to long it either kicks you and bans you for an small amount of time to reque
As a Casual player I would love to simply not play in draft games. It's a neat feature for highly competitive players. But for people that just want to play a casual game without having to investigate what is meta, it would be nice to not be forced in to draft

They should either make the highest ranked players pick last so they can take the carries, or randomize pick/ban order completely. At least if it’s random we won’t get the current bias of “the lowest ranked player gets to decide the ban”

Draft has been okay for me. It used to crash my game in tourney mode before it was implemented in rank but hasn’t happened but maybe once since for me. Other than the slowness I think I like it okay. But it forces me to grind ribbons in casuals of course.
The problem is that the two worst players on your team gets to ban and counterpick...
Besides that, ranked is in unite the standard mode

@@viva3401 as a new player who's played a little over a month, I'd like to practice my mons in a competitive setting outside of learning moves and combos. I find standard filled with bots and people messing around
as much as i don't believe people should be able to rank up without draft, spragels does make a good point that forcing people who don't want to rank into it just makes the match terrible for everyone. So the option to opt out is 100% a must.
There is practice mode and casual games if you are unsure to use a new pokemon
1400+ ranked since 2 weeks and a half and only had 3 games and I play everyday…
I know about Map Help. I didn't know about Draft Pick Map Help.. Bcuz I need as much prep as possible before I jump in. I saw it flipping maps and quick battle modes(since it never remembers or sets you to the daily quick battle available), I hit plus, and it was very helpful. For standard/quick battles. I don't expect anybody else to need this information to jump in. ESPECIALLY if it's located in custom battle where you need 9 other ppl for it. Who has nine ppl they know and are friends with who play unite. Not me.

The lack of draft tutorial I think is a killer. As soon as a player reaches master rank, they should be brought to a bot game and draft tutorial. It's ridiculous, but I honestly love the idea of draft.
every moba has "BAN REQUEST" feature maybe it'll help with draft situation rn

I like the concept of draft, helps with item choices and building around/against enemies its fun.
I feel it should be availible earlier and optional for those who dont want draft.
Also give us more ways to get aeos coins, it shouldnt take you potential months to get a new mon. That way we have more options to pick if you do play draft.

Even i want to sometimes instantly lock in a pokemon like decidueye. I would love to play in the casual mode in a situation like this but you just get bot games. The thing is draft is made up for serious matches, but sometimes we want to play casually but you kinda dont have that option. This leads to bad drafts. They need to make the standard mode interesting so that players play it. So making players either not get draft completely or get a draft every match is not ideal in the current state of the game. If casual matches were a thing, things would have been much better.
Matchmaking always being broken is so funny, I dropped the game for almost a year and now I'm coming back and the issues are almost the same
Draft mode should be enforced to all ranks, the best way to players to improve at something is to make them practice it as much as possible
I think you're on to something with the separate queues. Like, what if there was an option to play with draft pick in a more competitive setting? We could call it "Ranked" or "Competitive". And then there could be an option for people who want to play a more casual game without draft pick! .... -_-
Seriously though, I wish Unite made a more wholehearted attempt at implementing draft pick, and just applied it to Ranked as a whole
Agreed if they forced it to every rank more people would switch to norms and it wouldn't be full of bots fixing both problems.
Everytime i bring this up in various other locations the only excuse i read is that those not part of the various communities are larger than those that are, and when they were asked to fill in the survey they probably answered to get rid of it, and they also wanted to play more casually. (I dont believe that though).
But in case if its so, than maybe its time those many casual players that dont want it should be redirected to Normal games, and Timi should adress the many trolls that haunt that place.
Maybe ban phase could be faster as well, a 30 second time frame where the teams suggest bans, than the system will pick 4 of those either depending on most requested bans or failing that bans suggested by highest rated players. Each player can select up to 2 ban suggestions.
I think majority vote per ban would be best but that's easily exploited by duos/trios. Had they made it so they only play with other duos/trios/5-stacks, there'd be no problem whatsoever.
One annoying thing about draft is that sometimes our teammates doesn’t pick anything to ban in draft. And vice versa with the opposing team. And sometimes they ban Pokémon which are so random you wonder if they’re really a wolf in sheep’s clothing

Draft play should be for all ranks! It sucks it is just in Masters. I mean it might help get you to Masters if you can each pick and ban a Pokémon. I mean if you are already in Masters why do you care as much. You already reached top tier.
if they add that idea abt pre picking the pokemons u want to ban, it would def reduce time but will create 1 more prob. If u and ofc many other ppl picked a pokemon to be banned, and then next patch it gets a heavy nerf, i m pretty sure that most players wont remove that pokemon from ban list
Draft is indeed a mixed bag for me. Last season people almost always picked a Pokemon that is or would be a problem for our team which was great. Some people also didn't pick a mon at all for ban phase. In pick phase, people would and still often just sit there and let the timer go down for their pokemon of choice. But my main problem, even if it makes sense is when I can't pick a mon when the other team has it. >:[

Ok bad players are one thing but c'mon a tutorial Hidden in a mode no one uses and within a secret function no one knows about. That's just an outright bad design for a major game change within the rank system.

I actually reached the draft tutorial without anyone telling me that it existed.
I saw the draft tutorial image but as a "leak" that made some facebook people think that it would be a new implementation.
But then when I was training with Tsareena, without anyone telling me anything , I found the tutorial already inside of the game, lol.
I literally carry at least 70% of my games. Its insane. Im mic banned over 168 hours just because i calmly ask for help or try to coach the team.
I also miss the days when i knew i had 5 games an hour before work or before a meeting, etc. now its only 4 games 😢 cuz of the extra unnecessary draft time.
The problem with draft mode in unite is that unite pretends to be a moba when it barely passes as a multiplayer diablo on mobile, so when adding moba mechanics on it, it feels wonky. For people who actually play mobas draft is ESSENTIAL when it comes to competitive plays that it doesn't matter if it takes long cause it matters. But since unite is the tiktok of mobas where its needs to be short and quick, it doesn't work as well.

I had many matches playing trioq were me and my friends were playing: supporter, defender, attacker/all rounder, and my 2 randoms just insta locked stuff like cinder, garde, greninja on lane
Plus, I like the way draft starts, only the preparations screen could be shorter

Draft mode shpuld allow your teammates to vote for what they want banned before the player makes a choice so they can see common vans before locking in Scizor for no reason.
I've also felt a massive surge of lag and faulty connection while playing.
I haven't played sense Mewtwo X and Mewtwo Y release so I don't know whats different and such. Would having lane/role que be a bad thing? Like you que support/Tank or Tank/All Rounder, so then it'd help teams be more well rounded? Or would position/Que role be better, like you que Top/Jungle or Bottom/Top. Again I haven't played sense Mewtwo X/Y so I don't know whats in the game and such for these ideas if possible
When I was new player. I got to know about the draft tutorial when I was searching in which quick mode drednaw spawns for the achievements through map help and I sort of found out how to play the infamous draft. I like draft but, as spragels said there are way too many clueless players like heck at my side there always that one deci player who will go afk as soon as the match starts just because he didn't got the jungle then, there was that super greninja player who will always wipe your whole team out cleanly 😂 Unite is a mess right now.

I think they should change ranking system , It is so easy to get into masters they should add another rank for like top 10,000 players in server and they should get draft . This makes situation better because casual players gets non draft matches which are faster. Then 10,000 players with some understanding get draft games which takes more time but competitive games,
And also gives a reason to grind after reaching masters.
If someone doesn't ban, put it to the next up on the list. So if 5th doesnt, 4th does, then it goes to third, and general bans they've picked. If someone doesn't ban, you also have the 'picked by group default choices' option as you list. That way, if 2/3 folks have a common mon ban, it defaults to that if someone doesn't pick. Keeps the dual ban option. Have them set this up in ranked before they queue in at a certain point, masters, or 1200. So that when it pops, there is a set, okay, heres how it goes when you get one.
And tough timis on being top. Thats standard league matters. You are the carry by skill.
Your first/second picks are players that are going to get counter-picked in matters, or just banned, or however many ways that exist in league that force you to play better.
If im on the bottom/right, i know im the weak link, and not going to be doing well/Ko'd alot, or just struggling, it sucks.
I don't really let it get to me, im not the carry there that needs to win it not me. Its 1st and 2nd place.
