Great design! I've had the small one built for a while, but I gave up trying to compile the code for the board in Arduino IDE. I kept getting errors and no amount of research solved the issue.
Hello, what amazing work. Exactly what I was looking for. I would like to be able to feed the stray cats in my neighborhood with this little vehicle. But being disabled I can't go out. Would it be possible to convert the vehicle to the Lora network? Thank you Kind regards Mickael
I doubt it. The bandwidth for video is too much for lora. The easiest way to do long range would be to use a cellphone in the back of the Scout32 to provide a WiFi hotspot for the rover, and setup a VPN between the rover hotspot phone and a second control phone or PC.
@@Pilotgeek Thank you for the answer. I understand, I would have to use a cell phone as a 4g relay. I had seen videos on the video stream via the Lora network but it must be nonsense that is said in their videos. Would it be possible to use a Bluetooth controller on the phone to control the vehicle? thank you Kind regards Mickael
@@andurilmike5959 Video is likely possible on lora, but the esp32 doesn't have enough cpu power to encode more efficient video compression that they probably are using. It may work using really low resolution but I have never personally tried it, and the current code is written around having a fairly fast communication link. I don't have any bluetooth code setup, but it's theoretically possible. You may be interested in some of my olders setups like the PilotTrak rovers which used 5.8ghz analog video and an RC aircraft transmitter.
awesome job! quick question: do you think it would be possible to use micropython and turn the scoutXL rover into a self-driving vehicle? i don't see why not, but i'm just a total newbie. thanks!
Yes, I'm sure it's possible. I thought about adding an HC-SR04 sonar sensor to the front and making a little bot for my son to play with using the same chassis. In my experience, it works well to steer a robot using light sensors on each side to make "casual" steering choices away from dark areas, and a sonar sensor to detect if you get close to something.
@@Pilotgeek thanks! I have been thinking about some kind of lightweight machine learning model to avoid obstacles as a demonstration for high school students. Just got some parts in the mail! Will keep you posted!
If we want to use another motor instead of n20 as you mentioned in the video, which files do we need to print? I don't see an option for that engine among the files?
what is the capacitor for on the back of the board? I am currently working on the 2X drone and am interested in making this drone as reliable as possible
Those 9v aka 2s lipos with built in chargers will come in handy in many situations. Great find!
Excellent, thanks a lot for sharing!, all your projects are awesome, man.
I already ordered the esp32-cam :D
I wish you clear skies. Always.
very high quality!!
Thank you for your work.
You're back
I love it!
Hi, congratulations on the project. Where can I find the motors you used, the round ones? thanks

never mind, I just figured it out!

Its possible a Long range with the Lora ? Thank you.

I think I'm looking for xl. If I don't need a camera I can use my RC remote control by connecting it directly to the ESC and mixing.
well now I just want a set of nesting drones
Hello Pilot geek
I just saw on the xxl there is the big card that holds the small ESP32 card, what is it called and where can I find it?
You could just search Amazon for 40mm x 60mm prototype PCB. It's a board with nothing but a grid of solder pads.
what is the capacitor for on the back of the board? I am currently working on the 2X drone and am interested in making this drone as reliable as possible
Just to smooth out any voltage spikes on weaker batteries. I add a large capacitor in parallel with the power pins.
What gear ratio you use on the 370 motors,12v?
The ones I had were simply listed as 500rpm.
Any chance of a Maverick veetwo update?
Not here. UA-cam changed their policies and removed most of my videos, so check odysee.com/@pilotgeek45 for that content.
What was the small laptop around the 5 minute mark?
Smart Life Connected 8" MAL-FWTVPCM1. Comes in handy doing IT work, I can pretty much fit it in a pocket or my bike bag.
What was the little mini laptop thing?
Smart Life Connected 8" MAL-FWTVPCM1. Just a tiny X86 laptop for field work and such.
@@Pilotgeek Very cool!
