    This just shows how much work the very top guys put in. Herlings reminds me of some of the top guys from the 1980's. Guys who were willing to put MX ahead of everything else 24/7...

      In motorcycle racing the guys are fast enough to run at the front but don't crash are the ones that win championships. It's especially true in MotoGP and a reason why Marc Marquez is so exceptional. He's faster than "fast enough" and yet before his big 2020 crash in Jerez he was able to keep it up. My favorite MotoGP racer ever, Eddie Lawson, was never faster than Freddie Spencer, Wayne Gardner, or Wayne Rainey but he was fast enough. Even in motocross Ryan Dungey, the rider of the past decade in the US, wasn't faster than Villopoto or Stewart but he was fast enough.
      Motocross is so different though because the chance of injury is so much higher. Their careers are so short compared the guys on road bikes.

      And what do you think about 5 time MOTOGP champion Mick Doohan ? 😉 he fast like a freaking bullet lol
      I saw Quick Mick on the TT of Assen and damn that guy did not flow in corners he pushed the bike in the corners !!!
      And yes MX is really different than MOTOGP but i like both , and i hope Jeffrey will be free of injuries this season so whe can see some nice fights for the championship ✌😉

    • @kylegoodman5196

      @@peetanke Mick was great but I think he got lucky by the fact that the 500cc class was dying by the time he became so great. Most road racers weren't racing 500s, they were on the far more rideable super bikes. I maintain that had Wayne and Kevin stuck around Mick might have only had two or three titles instead of five.

    Sometimes to be successful you have to know when to hold back. Herlings goes 100% all the time but that occasionally means riding over the limit. That's great every now and then but as we've seen with Jeffrey sometimes it can take you out of several rounds.

  • @chicobicalho5621
    @chicobicalho5621 Рік тому +1

    Herlings reminds me of Ayrton Senna very much in philosophy and spirit. He has a drive, a 110% attitude, a will to win that is very similar to Senna's. Even being teammates with a legend, and beating him more often than not reminds me of Senna's trajectory. Even his personal life, like being single and not wanting to have a family to distract from racing (I guess Jim Clark was like that too), is like Senna. What strikes me watching Herlings ride is how incredibly efficient he is compared to other riders; his rear tyre seems to be biting the dirt and pushing him forward more than anyone else, its hard to explain, but the rooster tail of dirt his KTM raises is of a different kind when compared to other riders.

    When this fkr burst on the scene ? I watched him here in the states at Iron Man , im 41 , grew up racing since I was 6 .. with that said my Era was Chad , Bubba , the goat etc... I've seen some ridic ass shit on a bike before but I've never seen anyone and I mean no body lay it down like Ricky would, it would look almost not real at times. You've heard the saying "he goes as fast as he wants to or needs to" ? That was ricky . Herlings that day brought back those same feelings , the same sound through a turn , kid was on track to become another Goat. After these injuries ? I fear he's gonna go down like Bubba .. He said a couple years ago that he has zero interest in racing Supercross. This far into his career and never having really had experience on a SX track and his proven track record of pushing the limits and injury that follows that. It’d be a bad scenario. Look at all the other European racers who have came over to race Sx, it takes a long time for them to gain the track experience and they’re fraught with injury in the process.

    He’s becoming Europe’s James Stewart, too fast for his own good sometimes. Don’t get me wrong I’m a big fan of both, but in both of their cases, if Stew would have backed it down from 100 to 95% he could have had more championships. It’s quite similar in Herlings situation, winning every moto or overall is amazing(not necessary though), but can’t win the championship if you’re crashed out recovering from injury watching the races from the couch.
