I recently visited a temple in Hadong, on the flank of a mountain called Jirisan. I meant to go there to have a walk into the forest surrounding Mount Jiri, hike up the path a bit and go back down after reaching the falls I had set as my goal. Before venturing onto the mountain's rocks, I was suddenly touched by a very similar chant. I investigated a bit and in the main temple, a very old monk was standing in front of many statues, singing these beautiful words that I could not understand. I stood behind him and listened for a while, feeling that this moment could last an eternity. At last I went on my way, and could still hear his enchanting singing as I climbed. Until it vanished. It truly was a special moment in my life.
