A true craftsman always makes the job look deceptively easy. Love your work Rob. Another great teaching video. Can't wait for the next installment.
Hi Ray, thanks for the feedback, we will be back in the shed today starting on the next one. Cheers Rob.
Looking great Rob.
Thanks Mick.👍
Thanks for the hard work put in - would love a little show piece on this car, the engine and history of how it came to be yours! Keep up the quality work mate I enjoy watching it!
Looking mint as, looks like a maloo tailgate
That's good it is what I was aiming for. Looks like it is all going to work.😉 Cheers Rob.
I added the video series to Just Commodores forum. I did it in the show off your ride section, even though it’s not my ride. The content of this series is the best documentation of a Commodore overhaul and modification I’ve ever seen. Needs to be shared.
Thanks for the share, I appreciate any promotion of our channel. I just joined the Just Commodores forum. Cheers Rob.
I was watching this and thinking about you leaving the paint on, then 5 seconds later ther person filming this asked the question, good timing :). I am enjoyin this and watching your technique. long videos, but hey, you got me in.
If I was going hard on this one I would just rip the paint off, but with it being a weekend project and winter time I have left it there to reduce the rust growing on it. Cheers Rob.
Amazing work, love the need a tool-make a tool attitude. Cant wait for the next vid instalment. Looks like the pig was a godsend. OzzyBob
You will love the next episode I will make a pair of simple dies to make the mount for our lion. Should be recording tomorrow. Cheers Rob.
Love the work you're doing Rob. Keep this coming!
Good job, just found your channel recently and subscribed, look forward to finding time lol to check out all your stuff, thank you for sharing, very informative and helpful cheers 😊
Your work is quality with no shortcuts, id be happy leaving a car with you , and I wouldn't say that about most panel beater spray painters
👍
Great work Rob , I am using your techniques on my project and they are not only helpful, but save a lot of time as well.
Good to hear.
Rob, thanks for the informative video and the hard work to bring them to us. You make working the metal look easy and your running commentary on each step is inspiring. Your skill, knowledge and understanding of the physical properties of sheet metal make metal look like putty when you shape it. Best of all you make your metal shaping tools from what ever is in your workshop.
A true craftsman!!
Deb will appreciate your comment, she often remarks that I have the same respect for sheet metal as I do for play dough. RT.
Nice work as usual Rob. Good to see that you put ear muffs on when hammering to shape the metal. I think so many people are not aware of how loud it really is and how easy it is to damage your hearing.
That tailgate skin is just like a drum, bang bang bang. Even in editing it was a drama. Industrial deafness is bit of a topic like depression, we all know about it and not enough is being done about it. Thank you for mentioning it. Cheers Rob.
@@robsshed and thanks to your video editor for taking the volume out of your hammer blows. Makes a big difference to us listening in with headphones 👍
Thanks for noticing the editing. It takes a lot of time to drop the machine sounds low enough to still be effective, but not blast the eardrums out! It will always be a work in progress, but it sure is fun to learn.
Cheers,
Deb
Really appreciate the hard work you put into making these videos.. I watch a lot of
UA-cam and these videos are the best by far
taking shape Rob : )
Slowly, but surely.
Been waiting for this upload!
Keep it up mate, Making that a maloo looker is such a fantastic idea.
I was having trouble looking at that plain expance of metal, in the end it was a case of "why not". Somethings need to be done just for the fun of it. 😉 Cheers Rob.
I want one for my vu amazing mate
Hi Rob, It is looking good mate :). I was wondering if you get some time, I know you are busy cobber. Could you do a "Create your Own Tools Video" with some of the tools you have found helpful. I am trying to set up a work shop on a Budget I have a 3 in one welder and air compressor and have seen some of your custom tools you have made. Just a suggestion. Cheers :) J
I can do this, you sent me down memory lane a bit here. There are pieces of equipment and tools that I made as an apprentice, still being used in that business. It is something that I do without thinking about it, and I would say every project that I have been involved in has had unique tooling made for it. Should be interesting anyway. Cheers Rob.
Hey Rob, have you bumped into the work of @xacoupeguy? A very pleasant person. Does some nice Falcons and Holden’s.
He was commenting on my video's for awhile. I haven't heard much from him in recient times, and kind of miss him. He has a great channel, and is one of the good guys. Cheers Rob.
@@robsshed im still watching you regularly rob! At the moment I'm working on a smashed late model commodore too
Good stuff, good to hear from you. Stay safe.
Nice.
Thanks mate.
Nice work. Will you be hinging the number plate like it’s done with HSV so the plate drops down with the tailgate and is still visible when open?
I wasn't planing to. I was told that that feature was discontinued after VZ. Cheers Rob.
great work, whats happening with the boss goss Rob
Hi mate, still chipping away on it. That one is a mega project with pretty much everything being a custom one off. I will be going hard on it this week, and I will try and get a little update video on it out soon. Cheers Rob.
Looking great every episode Rob were you putting any reversing lights on the ends of the number plate opening? Or will it be all steel. Been watching your other channel also. Love your work. Keep em coming 👍👍
I thew around a few ideas along those line, and decided to leave the reverse lights in the tail light as per factory. I really like the HSV VE extensions, but they don't match the VY. One idea was to use VE tail lights for a really custom look, but the feature lines and seams on the VY quarters don't support the styling of the later tail light. Still I need something to think about. Cheers Rob.
Have a look how the maloo wires run on the lower drivers side of the tailgate
I will do for sure, do you know if the rest of the VE VF utes are the same? Cheers Rob.
great content . too many adverts
