How to choose a right Pot for your plant

Choosing of a pot what is right for your plants is very important. What is best for the plant and where it is to be placed.Broadly classified into three categories -Ceramic/Cement,Plastic and Terracotta/Earthen pots. These are the three main types we can also use wood,tin , few DIYs etc.

Very good morning Mita,
You have touched a very vital point in selecting the right pot for the right plant just as we do while choosing life partners🤣 compatability is so important.
You are very correct about the clay pots but they are hardly seen around.
The disadvantage of these pots as you pointed out is their durability. My pet dogs have destroyed the best of my collection. In their anxiety to guard against strangers they have acted as warriors and bashed all the good and best pots. But I could never be angry with them, just laugh and tell them they are doing an excellent job 😂

Yes Mita ji terracotta pots r my favourite ones. None of my plants planted in ceramic has survived☹️☹️☹️despite giving it the best possible draining mix. Now l use them as cachepot only. Plastic pots too hav been problematic l hav lost several plants that were potted in red and clayey soils which come from Pune/ Banglore and Kolkata nurseries respectively. The plastic pots get easily brittle and break with slightest pressure. I hav many empty terracotta pot waiting for new plants😊 nurseries r open but m holding my horses till monsoons can’t bring new plants till the heat waves continue. What about u r u going on a plant shopping spree????🌿🎋🍃🌾🌵

I agree with the observations you have made about different kinds of pot.My favorite is also terracotta although a few ceramic ,plastic & cement pots

Check the leaves and the potting soil for ants and also for any infestation (mealybugs) First sign of mealybugs attack is that plant start shedding leaves
If possible keep the plant away from other healthy plants
Next time when you water add little Fungicide

Take as a challenge that I want to grow plants only in plastic containers..ND want results similar to clay pots..what to do in this case help ..mita ji

Thanks Dr Tushar only thing is drainage so take care 1. Soil should be well drained 2.Make lot of drain holes and keep them free 3. No overwatering
If these are taken care of plastic pots will be good especially for terrace and balcony 👍
