I wanna get into the graphic design side of the game but holy heck it took me like an hour to even begin to get comfortable with the basics to make something thats like 30-50 parts along with me trying to sit there and visualize what i want in my head and how im going to translate it into their somewhat limited decal editor.... i hope the add additional shapes to work with and a feature to create parts from teh different shapes that you can refer back to and pick out templates you've created or gotten from others...

you can you just gotta deselect a part, hover your mouse over what layers you want to group and hit e to select them and then hit f to bring up the menu to group them
@pwnomega4562 You can group the layers, but they still count as individual layers. And there's a maximum of I think 128 layers. Sounds like plenty, but I hit the limit. I wish I could import my half completed decal as one layer into another decal to continue the work. But I don't think I can.
