NFL primetime will go down as the best highlight show for a singular sport. The music was iconic and there was no better chemistry than Boom and Tommy. Thank you both!
Without question Chris Berman is a legend & there will never be anyone as creative, inventive & dedicated to sports as him. ESPN got extremely lucky when they got him
Chris Berman and Dan Patrick are 2 of the most influential sports people in my life... I would like to take this time to remember Stuart Scott.... I know this man resonates with NOT just me but the other 2 mentioned before. Thank you from the bottom of my heart... If either of you would ever like to have a conversation ... especially both of you about Stuart.... That I would love. God Bless you both
The absolute G.O.A.T. of the ESPN franchise. There's no single person/personality that rises above Berman and his impact on that network, as well as Sports TV journalism overall. I love him like a step-dad😊 From the late 80s thru the 90s, Berman was a Must Watch 'Anchor', and Dick Vitale was the Must Watch 'Color Analyst' while at The Mothership. They both changed how their respective job disciplines were approached and delivered. There's a good chance whoever you think is a great modern-day TV sports host studied and/or copied Berman and Vitale (honorable mention to Bob Costas at NBC during that exact time period) I'll sign off by giving homage to Chris with one of his many sports catchphrases that he made famous via the ESPN airwaves... "How bout those RaaaiDERS"
Australian rules football kept a young ESPN afloat in those early years. They aired a whole lot of those games. We had no idea what we were watching but it was entertaining as hell.
Facts my friend…facts. I was just a kid but completely remember Australian Rules Football on ESPN in the early and mid 80s. I waited for the little referee in the white suit with the white fedora to emphatically point his index fingers and move his arms downward to signify a score. Vintage ESPN will always bring me joy.
maan there are so many good ones. Oddibe Young Again McDowell, Fettucini Alfredo Griffin, Bruce 2 minutes for Ruffin, Bob Melvin and the Blue Notes.......
In 1979-80 I was a parts driver at Dworin Chevrolet and watched the original building get built from the ground up; because I delivered at Chic Miller Atwood Chevrolet once or twice a week. 🎉I was 19-20 years old. Oy.

We can't bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell stories that don't go anywhere. Like the time I caught the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe. So, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days nickels had pictures of bumble bees on them. Gimme five bees for a quarter, you'd say. Now where was I... Oh yeah! The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones..........
@@williamdillard5060 Everything he stole except the idiotic nicknames which really weren't nicknames, but just a way to shine the light back on Chris Berman. Literally none of his catchphrases were his own. He stole from Howard Cosell. He stole from Keith Jackson. He stole from John Facenda. He stole from Red Barber. The guy was nothing but an egomaniacal bombastic blowhard who thought he was better than Al Freakin' Michaels! When in fact he couldn't even hold Michaels' microphone or his jockstrap. Or Michaels' jockstrap hanging from his microphone. Comparing the broadcasting skills of Chris Berman to the broadcasting skills of Al Michaels is like comparing Matthew Dellavedova's toilet to Michael Jordan. Berman sucks. Always did, always will. He probably still sits around the house all day trying to figure out a way to incorporate a Huey Lewis and the News pun into a player's name.

Howard Schwab. April this year. RIP. @ 72 we still remember.
Watching Primetime to see highlights and if my team won, great childhood memories! Thanks Boomer ❤
I loved, loved, loved Primetime with Berman and Jackson. They were so fun and thorough and passionate in their analysis and highlight calls.
I know his answers were probably too long but a guy like that, absolute legend, you just let em talk. Because one day all we'll have are memories.
Eric "Sleeping with" Bieniemy was my fav.
Great interview. I was wondering what will happen with the collection in the studio. You can tell Dan loves Chris. NFL Primetime is still great.
My fave was when Berman referred to troubled Atlanta star as Andre "Bad Moon" Risen.

As a bills fan, it is the Jets just being the jets.
