      Nice, Ted, that you mentioned the PEOPLE..several comments here LOOKED at the photographs but did not SEE the people. This reminds me a phrase of Galen Rowell, great photographer, in his famous book "Mountain Light", where he says "people come, come, look but they don't see".

    Roger I spent 8 weeks there fixing fast jets, like you I found the locals very friendly, I was treated to some great trips out and one was a Water pipe house, great smell and full of characters. Great images and video, the best one for me was the Old guy with the stunning eyes.

    The quality of this content! Intimate and immediate story telling, great photos, great music and transitions. It seems so easy and natural, like you’re just having a wander and a chat with a mate. I can only imagine how much work it takes to seem so effortless this but it is really appreciated by your subscribers. ALL the photos are bangers but the woman through the glass at 7:30 was my personal favourite.

    To say (in not so many words) that sometimes you just have to put the camera down and just look with your own eyes is in my opinion, the one most important thing I've learned from these two (so far) videos. Excellent photography Roger, you make it all seem so easy. Street photography isn't my bag, I know it to be deceptively difficult to achieve what you have there, very well done! Glad the family loved it too.

    I agree with Simon, Roger, those portraits were absolute stonkers, the second they flashed up on screen my first thought was 'wow' followed by 'they're going to print lovely'

      @@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Oh, I am sure of that. But still, always wanted to go to places like this. I love learning about other cultures and meeting new people. I spent over 25 years as an over-the-road truck driver here in the States. I've been in and thru every US state except Alaska, Maine, and New Hampshire. Ran all over British Columbia and Alberta too. I think that desire to see new places and meet new people is one of the reasons I did it. That and I absolutely love trucks and waking up in a different place every day!. I stopped the OTR gig in 2015 due to my wife's health, but I still love to travel when I get a chance. Love your channel sir! I shoot quite a bit of film, mostly B&W, and your work keeps me inspired. Someday you'll have to come over here to Big Sky Country in Montana and we'll go to Glacier and Yellowstone.

    I really appreciate the photos you took in Bahrain. The portraits, the street photos, they're just beautiful. But, I have to say, from the video, the colors there are so different from the kind of colors that I typically see in photos made in the US or Europe. As much as I like all the photos you took, I would love to see them in color. I shot b&w film for forty years or more, but the colors in Bahrain are so warm and the shadows are so open. Please go back and shoot more and consider using color, film or digital. If I were in better health, I would love to go.

    Hi Roger, As usual you gave us another beautiful video. The FM3A is incredible, as is the film you used. How did you handle the X-ray problem at the airport? You bought the films in Bahrain. Thanks again, Edoardo from Milan

      Thanks Jon. Not really unless I make a video showing my prints and what went on through my head at the time. I think mostly trying to fill the frame observing what's in the background and having my subject framed accordingly. Either to the left, right or middle.

    • @ShootFilmLikeaBoss
      @ShootFilmLikeaBoss  Рік тому +1

      I did not. I had a translator with me but not too easy to communicate exchanging details etc. I didn't have the time. Just shoot and go. I had much to cover. The films were developed back home and the prints also. I often do give over details and give away prints but not so easy sometimes when you are shooting so much. I must have some cards made up I think to just give to people though. That would be a good idea.
