You know when you marry, as much as you love your wife or your husband, still takes a while getting use to and have to adjust to each other
Yes! I grew up in foster care with a variety of races, ethnicities, and differences among foster siblings and none of us ever discussed race or saw one another differently. Now that I am in a masters of social work program, they are teaching us that people from different races have different identity development. It’s such a difference from my psychology undergrad, which saw identity development as something shaped by our experiences, environment, and individual personalities. Now, I find myself paying more attention to race than I did before because it is emphasized soooo much. It really bothers me how much people within my classes are pushing “differences” and hostility between races.
Ever since I stopped watching the news, I've been able to get to a place where I'm sooo much better with the way of my thinking and "feelings". I still see race and color but I still have work to do, I went hard into the news 20 January, 2017 when President Trump was sworn into office.
I really started finding the news being old towards the end of 2020 and after the 06 January incident, I just couldn't take the news anymore, I mean I was dam near 24 7 into Fox News literally and I just can't anymore which I'm glad because, I truly feel so much better and more free.
Believe it or not.. he was called racist for this song. He was given a lot of hate. He wrote This House as a response to the hate. Definitely got to check that out.
I don't see how anyone could possibly label him as 'racist' when there's nothing in the sing that supports it.

I loved biggie and eminem and pac and dmx and wayne growing up but there is something about Tom. He is speaking up and putting in what I wish I could. Asia, I know how you feel. I'm mixed, half black half white, and I grew up in a place with so much cultural diversity. I had white friends, black friends, mexican friends, black/asian friends, white mexican friends, asian friends, islander friends. And when I moved to another state, the diversity turned into tribalism. All the black kids sat together, as did the white kids and the hispanic kids. It was crazy. It blew my mind that people were so far from each other.
I had black homies and remained true to myself, Tom was referencing people thinking he wants to be black because of his hair, his tats, and he's in the rap game.
You guys respect Tom's Courage, and that's admirable.
Your channel popped up in my feed because I listen to Tom’s music. I’m 52 years old and I’ve never wanted to listen to rap until I came across Tom’s music. As a 5 year old white Hispanic kid I remember being with my cousins in the side alley where we lived and saw this adult black man building a brick fence and we all started to make remarks to him due ro his skin color. The man called us and sat with us and talked to us in such a way that it really marked my life in a very positive way. He explained of what, why and other details about these so called differences I can't recall as it was in the mid 70's. He instantly became a key figure in my life and I still to this day I remember him and wish that he know that I am very appreciative of how he approached us. (Oh my! Got tears on my eyes). Something I didn't understand is why we did what we did as a child as we all know we have black cousins. As a matter of fact they were my favorite cousins, although I love everyone equally nowadays. By the way I previously had four relationships with black women in the past.
There were only two persons that marked my life in such way. This gentleman that I just mentioned and an inmate that was in a hospital where my mom would take me for my appointments. This las one was there waiting to be called to attended and he approached me and said to be a good boy and gave me a rosary. And that's what I did. Never bullied anyone, never used drugs in my life and so on. I still have that rosary, although I don't use it as Catholics do. I keep it as a symbol of the commitment of being a good person.

This song/video is what sold me on Tom. Finally, someone gave a voice to straight, white men who are not racist and do not hate people on the basis of race...and refuse to feel ashamed for being white or feeling guilty for what white people did in the past. It was wrong and not godly at all. But that wasn't me and I will do my part to change the world by raising my white children to love ALL people and not to judge or treat people differently because they are different. The Before the Shoot video for this song is very interesting as well. Tom talks about how things are viewed differently where he is originally from in Canada.

If you look for it there is a video of him talking to the people in the classroom before he recorded the song/video, He didn't want to offend anyone. He played the song for them, explained why he made it, and gave them the option of not being in the video, and they would still get paid.

Thank you! I got color in my blood but I’m neon white. My grandma was half blood Cherokee but I look like a white supremacist bc I’m white and bald. So the reaction you gave gives me so much more faith. I fought and bled with other soldiers of all colors and to acknowledge that not everyone is racist is a major step today.

I have to say that the best thing that happened to me was I joined the military. Where every race and color were thrown into things together and had to get things done. My military family is special to me. I was able to understand how others felt. I am human and both of you are welcome to my home and table anytime.

I was brought up in the 70s, and in the 70s it was a different time. The black culture was treated differently so I understand both sides of the coin. It seems like there was a fight at every basketball game blacks and whites. I never understood it, but yet there was. Our country is gone Very far since then. I understand the anger but I don’t understand the violence. America still has a lot of growing to do on both sides. As long as were separate, our country could never be as strong as we could be. I really do appreciate your channel. I love your excitement when you do reactions to different types of music. we can thank those in power for all the lies and dissension that our country has to endure because the ones at top don’t care about either one of us. They just care about power. I dated a black girl for four years in high school to this day. We’re still really good friends and it was some of the best times of my life. And I got hate from both sides. But the heat from white dudes because I was dating a black girl was the worst, it seems like I fart every day. I’m glad those days are gone and more importantly I’m glad for people like you and your channel that are brave enough to see through the lies.

I have devoted alot of my life to snatching for missing persons. I am a white male but If I can be apart of bringing ANY missing person home and replacing the emptiness and hurt in that person's loved ones and help them to get answers....it don't matter to me what color skin they have. I love every person just the same and it is my goal in life to bring everyone happiness and bring home a missing son, daughter, parent, brother, sister or friend, HOPEFULLY ALIVE AND FINALLY SAFE.
