That eye made him one of the most easily recognizable actors in all of those hundreds of roles he played in over the years. A funny guy--he had me rolling on the floor in Cannonball Run.
I loved this video of the actor ❤ could play any role good or bad he was the greatest !!!!!!! But I did enjoy his comedian parts he was so funny . Thanks again
I thought it was Jack Elam who described an actor's career: Director: "Who is Jack Elam", "Get me Jack Elam", "Get me someone like Jack Elam", "Who is Jack Elam".
Jack Elam...Hollywood's best blend of the comic and the menacing bad guy. It's that wandering left eye. And while I'm here, I should tell you I feel like a kid in a candy store. I can't believe I am only now finding this channel. I will be spending many hours here. Thanks a million!
I liked how some of the classic Western bad guys like Elam, Borgnine, Brennan and Palance ended up in comedic roles. They were all fine actors and brought flavor to any movie.
He was really good in "Hawmps" and "Hot Lead And Cold Feet", but I really got a kick out of him, in "Rio Lobo", along side John Wayne. Jack Elem was so good as he constantly taunts Victor French. (The villian in "Rio Lobo.")
People comment about him being the most underrated actor of all times is wrong. Watching this video I suggest he was the busiest actor of all time and probably very rich because of it. Great actor definitely my favourite supporting actor ever.
Watched Jack in mostly all Western TV shows 'Rifleman,Gunsmoke'Rawhide... you knew he's aiming to shoot someone down. On Letterman interview he stated he lost many gunfights, severalshortlived TV series, very knowledgeable of his lengthy movie career.
The aspiring novelist in me would have liked to cast him as an ordinary man, a decent sort, if a bit of a grouch. And when it comes to it, he stands up to real danger. In the aftermath, his family and friends are deeply grateful, which melts his heart. Well, just a little. At 4:33, in The Texas Wheelers, that is a young Mark Hamill as his eldest son.
Elam always amazed me. He could appear so ruthless like his character in 'Rawhide' opposite Tyrone Power and so funny as he was in 'Support Your Local Sheriff' or sequel 'Support Your Local Gunfighter' with James Garner.
Yes , Jack Elam - a One and Only One Original ! - Not many know that he was offered the role of the evil gunfighter Wilson in the classic Western Movie "Shane". - He declined because he thought there were not enough lines (!). - So, Jack Palance got the part, an Oscar nomination, and acknowledged as the most villainous gunfighter ever for the way he played him ! - However, it would have been interesting to have seen what Jack Elam would have made of that pivotal role ! - I have a feeling that he would have been good at it too ! -
Doomed to playing heavies because of the lazy eye. Often not fun to watch. He could surprise you with am entertaining performance. Like when he played a brawling preacher in a Laramie episode
A western with Jack Elam in it was always worth watching. Jack was a brilliant character actor, who added something special to every film he was in.
He brought his A game to all his movies
Jack Elam was one of my favourite cowboys, great comic timing
A true professional
One of the most underrated actors ever!
That's why I bring up some of the lesser appreciated actors in my videos, give them some recognition.
Jack Elam could play a nasty outlaw or be splendid in comedy. A true talent.
A great range. Could make you laugh and cry at the same time:)
Jack Elam has the ability to play a wide range of roles.
One of the best actors in western movies
He was in alot of them, from the reliable stable of actors.

Glad you liked it. Yes a real talent
Cant think of anything he did that he didn't add something special too. He gave his all.
When I was a kid, I had nightmares about Jack Elam. After I was grown, he was one of my favorite actors. Just shows to go ya.
I can see why you had nightmares. once he went into comedy he never looked back. Well many his lazy eye did?
Definitely one of my favorite actors!
You missed one ... He was also in High Noon. As the drunk Gary Cooper let out of jail before the gunfight.
Well noted, thanks
first video I saw. It was well done and you have a wonderful speaking voice. I subscribed
Thanks for this video of my favorite character of once upon....
Your not alone:)
And he played a small role in Grey Eagle, a Western directed by Charles B. Pierce, with Ben Johnson and others.
Yes, that Ben Johnson really got around, didn't he?
The coyote quote. Is that one of his personal quotes, or one of his movie lines?
The
The US film industry is very oriented towards the star system but, it takes great character actors to make the movies worthwhile.
They had their share of them
@@famouspeople63 They, certainly, did but they rarely got the credit that they deserved.
what a great guy!!!
Kind and generous
Thanks for the video...Jack Elam is legendary!
Glad you enjoyed it

Yes, was no slouch when it came to making movies
He also played a character on "Sugarfoot". First show I saw him in.
New subscriber.
Most excellent, Dude.
I'm trying really hard to watch just few at a time and not binge watch.
Thanks, good luck!
I love this Guy...was one of the best Bad Guy.
My favorite is Support Your Local Sheriff. He was a guest on Letterman one time. Pretty funny interview.
Did you see the sequel to Support your local sheriff as well?
@@famouspeople63 Absolutely. Another great one.
Elam was one of the greatest character actors ever.
About 2,500 people have a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame but no Jack Elam..such a bummer..
has a star on Utah's little hollywood walk of fame, www.hmdb.org/m.asp?m=130623

Thanks for the interest and comments, always welcome
I become a big fan of Jack Elam after watching him in 'Support Your Local Sheriff'. He stole this movie!! 😂
He always got your attention
I loved that guy
Your not alone
My favorite bad guy.
Look me straight in the eye when you say that!
J.D, Smith was my favorite of Elam's characters,
Yes a good performance.
Elam always amazed me. He could appear so ruthless like his character in 'Rawhide' opposite Tyrone Power and so funny as he was in 'Support Your Local Sheriff' or sequel 'Support Your Local Gunfighter' with James Garner.
Yes comedy came to him later in his career, fit like a glove

One can only imagine. Yes I think he would have done the role justice
He was also very funny in Once Upon A Texas Train with Willy Nelson, Dub Taylor, Ken Curtis, Richard Widmark and a number of other western stars.
He could chill you to the bone one movie then have you rolling in laughter in the next
A l'école, il a reçu un stylo dans l'œil pour devenir l'archétype du vilain (voir Rawhide).
Yes, mentioned in the video.
No mention of "The Macahan family"?
Loved him in Rio Lobo
The Dakota's, and temple Houston, 1960s
Pencil in the eye.
He should have worn a patch? Worked toy John Wayne in True Grit
Toothy Thompson.....
Doomed to playing heavies because of the lazy eye. Often not fun to watch. He could surprise you with am entertaining performance. Like when he played a brawling preacher in a Laramie episode
Just watched The Man from Laramie, Jimmy Stewart movie again. Elam's character was killed in it, after trying to kill Stewart.
