    Great lesson, as always, Martino!! I try to do 10 minutes of finger exercises every day, just to keep my fingers from flying. Practicing scales first descending then ascending helps a lot.

    Hi from Brazil, Martino.
    First of all, thanks so much for your videos. They are very clear and helpful!!!
    Martino, I’ve been studying sax about one and half year but I have difficult to articulate quickly. For instance, I’ve been working in a 16th notes exercise where the goal is to achieve 96bpm with all of the notes properly articulated. Nevertheless, I cannot get trespassing 80bpm and it’s very frustrating. Do you have any hint about this issue? Thanks in advance

      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  2 роки тому +1

      Ola Rodrigo, bom dia! Thank you so much for your words! So glad these videos are helping you improve on the sax! When it comes to speed it is very normal to plateau at certain speeds. That happens to me all the time and I guess it happens to many other people out there too.
      What I would do is probably leave the piece you are working on for a while....start having a break from it from a week. That means don't play it at all. Then try it again after a week and see if it has improved. If there's no improvement then I would start playing something different and come back to the piece after a month or so. Sometimes you need to give your brain a break in order to mature/process the piece.
      But there could be many other issues and techniques to fix this...though 80 is not too far from 96 so...

    Greetings my friend I have a question I use a nozzle number 5 meyer and I want to send make one with syon you think I should upload the number or stay on the same level.

    • @LondonSaxophoneSchool
      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  4 роки тому

      The mouthpiece size very much depend on how much you can physically take and what kind of sound you have. If you are getting a syon made I would not make it very different from the one you currently use. If you can and if they let you, go to a shop and try different mouthpieces out to compare and see how far you can push it.
      Don't aim for another mouthpiece...aim for great and improved sound, always! The mouthpiece is just a vehicle...nothing more...work on your playing more than anything else! That's my view Henry...I hope it helps :)

    You are telling us to keep our fingers close to the keys. Thats your trick? Most people know that already. Meh.

      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  2 роки тому +1

      You wouldn’t believe how many students have their fingers up high. If yours are low already good for you!

      Travis - if you saw what my fingers do, you'd understand why, for me, this is a great tip. Keep up the great work Martino!!
