as always Paddy Reily has a good voice - but no soul in what he is singing - for him its just a work that shall be finished so quick as possible. Listen to Jim McCanns version he puts in some feelings when he is singing
+Ravbo1 I totally disagree. Sure this song might not fit Paddy reilly completely. But saying he has no soul in what he is singing is in my opinion not true. His rendition of "the town I loved so well" is top notch.
That is a terrible thing to say about the great Paddy Reilly, he sings this song with heartfelt passion and soul in his authentic Saggart/Rathcoole accent and it sounds wonderful and very passionate to these ears here and the music accompanying is delivered both rousingly and pure as is ever the case throughout the performance of this ensemble of greats!
My 6 siblings and I grew up listening to this fantastic music. Thank you!
One of the songs of my childhood...so sad, so great, makes you so proud to be Irish!

Couldn't disagree more, potentially this is a harder one to tell as it is a melancholic song
Disagree... not my favorite version of the song but these harsh words are undeserved
