My Virgin Kitchen is a UA-cam cooking channel created when I wanted to teach myself how to cook and create a video diary of the journey / mrbarrylewis . I have never had a professional lesson & am just your every day chap attempting recipes to inspire you guys to try too. My Wife Becky (aka Mrs Barry) now joins in on the channel too, we upload 2 recipe videos per week, but some fun is had too on Sunday when it is our Funday where anything goes....including giant foods, mini foods, taste testing foods sent from around the World, kitchen gadget testing and many more. Any requests for recipes / cool stuff you've seen let us know! I absolutely love watching them together. they have such fantastic chemistry and seem like they have so much fun together.
To get the honey runny again just pop it into the microwave for 10 second intervals until completely melted.So much quicker and easier than leaving it in hot water for 20 minutes. Works a treat for golden syrup too!

My Virgin Kitchen you mentioned something about coffee in an avocado.. I've seen photos of an egg in the avocado where the pit once was.. Looks really yummy.. But yet to see a video on it.. Would love to know the secret to making this can u do a video?

put your coffee in a blender with your milk very frothy coffee I do this all the time.

1. Freeze the water into a solid block.
2. Use a power drill to make the holes.

Beekeeper here. Crystallized honey simply means your honey hasn't been heat treated and is therefore still full of the good stuff naturally found in honey, it has nothing to do with it going off or rotting in any way

LMAO...yeah, that processed "runny hunny" in that jar they have, or the cheap honey in my cupboard is totally natural and never been heat treated hehehe.
But Mrs Barry already told us that honey never goes off, so we knew that!

For the scrambled eggs, the person was probably assuming that everyone uses an electric stovetop, which would maintain some heat in the elements well after they're turned off.

It's not supposed to go in for 1 minute. Your supposed to do 10-15 second intervals until the skin is soft but not hot enough to burn

Some bottles melt in the microwave and glass doesn't heat far enough.
I put my glass honey jar in the microwave to melt the honey. "glass doesn't heat far enough" - what does that even mean??
true but most honey is in plastic bottles that won't melt at that short of time
That's what I do!
Don't actually put honey in microwave. It tends to destroy all the good and healthy stuff in it.

I had to chop up 3 huge red onions yesterday and I tried the bread hack!!! It didn't work so well for me, but the hubby and I had a nice laugh. So far the only solution that works 100% is swimming goggles. I keep a pair in my kitchen now just for chopping onions! Thanks for the fun Mr. and Mrs. Barry!!!

That doesn't work that well, you're best off wearing swimming goggles, they create a seal which prevents the onion juice from reaching your eyes.

I use an ice cream scoop when I prepare spaghetti squash and it works a charm. It gets the gunk right out and it's ready for the oven! Great hack!
Microwaving and rolling oranges are hacks for getting more juice when juicing oranges, but would just give you smushed oranges if you peeled them...
You two are the cutest couple I've ever seen. I know that these are of course vertical slices of your life but my god I am in love with how you two are together.
You and Mrs. Barry created a new game! 'Guess-while-while cutting onions': Dice an onion WITHOUT crying while holding a piece of bread in your mouth and having your team guess: movie titles or whatever while mumbling the title. Make onion soup after ;)

For the frothed milk one it helps if you heat your milk first shake it then microwave it again to set the bubbles.
Another hack for onion is spraying you knife and cutting board with white vinegar.

For the onion, chop it in half and quckly wash both exposed halves in the middle, making sure the water gets in between the layers. Works every time.
I find it amazing that you offer 4k :O I just found this out while watching your last video. This monitor doesn't support 4k but my tv does!
The Ice Cream Scoop hack on the butternut squash would probably work fantastic on a pumpkin!

Because of a slight handicap I have to sit on a kitchen stool to do my kitchen work - and I've found that when sitting on the stool and chopping onions, my head is not directly over the onion, but slightly to the front and lower than most people hold their head when chopping onions. Keeping your head from being right over the onion you won't cry - ever.

Not entirely true about contact lenses and onions. I wear them everyday and always cry when chopping onions. But I know someone else who never cries and wear them too. Gotta be something else.
different kinds of contacts have more or less permeability which would affect whether or not you cry at onions.
I don't water at onions regardless?
Best video to start the day off w/ a first cup of coffee. P.S. the coffee in the avocado doesn't sound all too pleasing.

it does work for a pumpkin and pretty much any type of squash. I use it for spaghetti squash every time.
keep the orange at room temp. roll on a hard surface for about 30 sec then peel. You can also make runny honey or maple syrup by putting it in the microwave (but only if the fuse isn't blown!) You two make a great comedy act!

For no-tears onions, get a wooden match and hold it by the base in your lips/teeth like a dangling cigarette. When you finish with the onions, just put the match back in the box. I've done this for over 40 years and it works every time. Cheers!

I just tried the milk-foaming one. It works really well.
I worked in a breakfast cafe for a while and we had a hack to make our eggs fluffy. We used warm water in place of milk or cream!

A hack that i use all the time is peeling pumpkins with a peeler. Just like a carrot or a potato and it is just as easy as as well. Maby you could try that in your next hack video. love u guys

With the onion one apparently if you eat garlic or have a spoon in your mouth it works as well
For the onion, what i figured out while i was working at Subway was chewing a piece of gum with your mouth opening and not breathing thru your nose. The fumes or vapors or whatever it is, gets absorbed in the gum. It makes the gum taste nasty so youll need to spit ut out after you're done cutting up the onion, but it works very well. For me atleast. Of course everyones different and not all hacks work on every single person, but the gum one had absolutely saved me every day when i had to do prep work in the kitchen. Without the gum id be out of commission for atleast 10 minutes to flush my face and my eyes.
