Back in 2000 my cousin played a game on my other cousin's Sega Dreamcast it started with a cutscene and a teenage boy holding his fallen father shouting an anguish "NOOOOOOOO!" Would you believe me if i told you that now after 13 & 1/4 years i still remembered this unknowns screech of anguish and that it was the only thing i could use to identify and describe this game? Now i'm not gonna lie to you at first i thought this game was Tekken but after countless hours of practically begging my older cousins to play the Tekken games they possessed only to not find or hear the memorable screech of Nooo, i quit my search and started to believe that i had indeed imagined this game and more importantly that scene although i couldn't for the life of me answer why i would have imagined an anguished character in a setting as such. Thank goodness for the internet because one day while i was on the "Tube" and i watched a compilation of practically every fighting game ever made (or something like that) i saw that same boy from the scene i remembered laying waste to bad guys left and right then finally blast a vertically challenged motherfucker that looked like Smeagle from Lord Of The Rings into the water to end its portion of the video! Good News? it wasn't a dream Bad News? i still had no clue what the game was called! Fast Forward to this past Friday when i searched Wikipedia for a list of every game ever made for the Dreamcast which led me to click on the title "Shenmue" and POW, the13 &1/4 year mystery was solved at last! Un-aware as to just how popular this game series franchise was i thought that finding a review or a playthrough of this title would be slim to none. Ohhohoho how inadvertently foolish i was because not only were their reviews and playthroughs of it but this internationally renowned game series has its own contentually based Tube Channel which i hastily subscribed to! In that moment i knew that i wasn't the only one who had seen this game or that scene before and i was proud and after i watched the hilariously awesome playthrough by a one SUPPAGOGOMAN who i subscribed to as well i came away with four things and that is: 1. That SUPPAGOGOMAN is one hilariously cool son of bitch! 2.I hate the hell out of that creepy ticket eating, Lan Di riding, Smeagle looking ass motherfucker Chia with a passion! 3. This game was the way maker for Quick Time Events and Free Roaming Gameplay for the games of today. 4.Where can i buy a Sega Dreamcast and a copy of Shenmue just so i can say that i beat it and completed chapter 1 of this EPIC Story?! Yes you heard it here first and you heard it correct i 64DROC1 in the year 2014 wishes to purchase or rent a Sega Dreamcast simply to playthrough the journey that is "Shenmue" for myself. Sure i could go to my local Gamestop and get part 2 for the Xbox and beat it on my 360 but it wouldn't feel right to me to do so without paying my dues and working my way up to part 2 and inevitably Shenmue 3! Mark my words, a part three is bound to see the light of day because years have gone by thoughts have been gathered and the stage as we speak is being set because the hook has been set and we've taken the bait and now they're ready to deliver but they wanted to see just how many people still remembered and how many people would remain faithful before another will unanimously be annouced! Patience people, think of it as the first two disks in which you knew what you'd be building up to since day 1 but you were oblivious as to when the build up would begin. Hence, anticipation of the unpredictable. This is the precipice and the aura of SHENMUE!
Shenmue 3...been waiting sooooo long for Ryo and his friends to return...oh! And Lan Di too. I didn't play part 1, but part 2 has my mind blown. I freaking fall in love with Shenmue 2 that I play nonstop...until my mom told me to go to sleep.

Only a week until Yu Suzuki 'Shenmue postmortem' at GDC 2014 and Mark Cerny, the PlayStation 4 system architect will be translating Suzuki's comments. Oh Please let there be a surprise ending where Yu Suzuk announces that Shenmue 3 will be coming to PS4. I think I would jump around the room like a child on Christmas day. But I think I might be hoping for too much.

And we want a passionate involving adventure with signature Yu Suzuki elements and arcade fun diversions. C'mon spend another 70 million on another classic epic saga installment. We love Shenmue as we found it in the first installment. Let's have the ordinariness of Dobuita back in our lives in 2009.

I know the first two games didn't do you much in profit, but when thousands and thousands of fans want to see something special, at least just an answer to what happens in this saga, I think the answer is obvious: Shenmue 3 has to be made. The way the first 2 games end, you can't NOT have a Shenmue 3.
Alot of people keep saying that the production cost of the game was really high, which leads some (including people at Sega it seems) to believe it will not be profitable to make Shenmue 3. What people ignore are all of the technological advancements since the Dreamcast era. Sure it may have been very difficult to pull Shenmue off during THOSE days, but in this day and age technology has advanced to the point that remaking Shenmue 1 and 2 shouldn't be a problem.

I think Yu isn't given us all the information. If SEGA have removed him from his Creative Officer position do you think it could be possible that Yu has finished his involvement with Shenmue (finished story, concepts etc)? I know for a fact if I was Yu Suzuki and my company had decided to NEVER finish my biggest project, I'd be PISSED!
The $70 million is for the project of 'Shenmue' rather than Shenmue 1 or 2. A lot of that money was spent in the early days at pre production on research/concept/music etc and that's why there is footage from Shenmue 2 on the SEGA Saturn, because AM2 had actually thought and built that far ahead. Shenmue '3' cannot exist on its own and techniques SEGA where doing with Shenmue 10 years ago are old now. The series needs a reboot to make it accessible to a new market. That costs money.
