Cold and rainy weather is my favorite. The smell of freshly made bread on a cold and rainy day is the absolute best, I most enjoy it with a bowl of soup. The meat skewers looked delicious in Hebrew they're called kabob. Even with the rain, Mochi is a little ray of sunshine. Your family is really beautiful. You are very blessed.

Dear Hiyu San, first of all, a very Happy birthday to you and may there be many happy returns! I absolutely love the Irori hearth, the sand is both perfect fireproof, and fantastic for supporting grilling skewers of food, how wonderful to see it in action. I always wondered how an Irori hearth worked for everyday use- does it take a lot to clean and maintain? Do you need to replace the sand often? I’d love to see how you use a nabe pot, cook rice, make miso… would it also be a place for friends to eat at, or would the dishes be served in the formal dining room? I’d imagine it was a lot of hard work in the old days, for housewives to maintain and clean. Mochi has grown! He’s a proper little man too. So nice to see your husband cooking with you, loved the scene where he makes coffee, and I could almost sense how the scent of coffee would permeate the house. The autumnal weather does allow us to slow down indeed. Here in the Irish & British isles, the temperature has dropped and our first storm is on its way, we’ve even had sleet and snow.
