Look at Curry man, so inspirational
My 6ft2 light skin pookie is having a giggle 🥰
Steph’s influence is not just limited to NBA, its global. He gave kids all around the world hope, basketball is a big man’s game, but with his influence it inspires every kid that as long as you persevere on your skills and you can shoot even with your current height, you will always succeed. This goes beyond MJ’s influence not to disrespect. International basketball games being played nowadays has his influence in some sort or another.
MJ had everyone around the world wanting to be like him no matter how tall they was.
Dude is not a midget bro. Not average physique.
But thats the thing MJ was a lab specimen unlike steph where you just need to work on your skills @datsapaddlin
Nah you just sucking him off
@@davyjoneslocker4859 MJ was athletic and skilled. That’s what made him so unstoppable. You could use his footwork and ability to dominate in the midrange and defensive tendencies as a small player. Steph is a great athlete with great genes he got from his father. It’s not like he’s not athletic. He’s just not the leaper type of athletic. He can run all day like no other. Realistically you can’t be like either but you can just jack up a shot easier to make you feel like you can be like Steph.
Ppl misunderstand “influence” vs greatest players…Steph has more influence than anyone else. He changed the game. MJ , Kobe , magic was amazing but not many ppl can do what they did…anyone can develop a jump shot and Steph gave ppl all over the world that confidence to do it. Look at what he did this ASG against Sabrina…He’s revolutionary to basketball whether you like him or not
Michael Jordan took the game globally. Steph does not touch what Jordan did to the game in a global scale….
The nba was dying before Jordan rose up.
Jordan iverson and steph all 3 changed the game
NO you are the one who doesnt understand the meaning of the word influence. Austin Rivers clarified it for you. Influence on the style of play now in the NBA is heavily because of steph curry. Influence on other aspects, there are other players. Influence on NBA? what does that even mean? The market would not be as big as it is without MJ, Kobe, Lebron? they alone have influenced an increase in viewers and then the salaries.
Also, steph shooting 3s isnt something everyone can do. He is still very tall compare to most people, and as for people not trying to be like Kobe or MJ? I know i "tried" to do some of their moves, no i cant do it like them but not trying to be like them is dumb
@@thewintersoldier383 The NBA wasn’t dying when Jordan came in because they had Magic and Bird who saved it. He did help make it more global though.
@@wagerking110we all know that’s cap 😂
Dominating the game and changing/ influencing it are 2 very different things. Nobody changed the game more than Steph Curry.
MU changed the game more than Curry. Before MJ you needed big men to win championships. You needed a rebounder and post player on every championship team. Then MJ came and won without a Big man. He made the game winnable for the guards even with centers like Bill Wenningyon and Luc Longley. Jordan literally changed the game from winning with Cwnters to winning with Guards. People today don’t realize that. Jordan did it wayyy before Curry did and his influence was larger.
if we're talking from 90s to 2000s to early 2010s. YES Jordan playstyle was very evident.
2013 til' today? ALL CURRY.
the jordan style was still there but it has spread so much and became a less option than 3. Cuz 3 pts is better than 2 as of today's nba.@@SoFantasticWonderful
Tbh this isn’t even close
Steph is definitely the most influential player. MJ historically yes and goat yes
Jordan all time, currently Stephen Curry.
Jordan still. Nothing has changed. Go to any hood or suburb and tell me what the kids are rocking on their feet. I rest my case.
@@philb.1502see but the question was on the NBA not on people. No team says we gotta shoot more middies like MJ they say we gotta stop shooting middies like MJ bcuz of… Stephen Curry
Rocking J's shoes while jacking up threes at pick up games etc. answers the question already. Shoes is one thing...changing the playing style of the ENTIRE nation is something completely different altogether.@@philb.1502
@@hey_its_brandenthere still shooting middies like MJ 😂😂😂😂
@@handeezyspeakseasy398 no they arent. Mid range isnt valued like they used to. No one goes in the draft or free agency looking for a guy who mid range and D guy. They look for a : and D guy. Its nothing against MJ its just sthat Steph showed 3 is more valuable than 2 and its worth shooting from farther than the mid range
I'm a Kobe guy he has had a tremendous influence on today's game and his mindset and skill set is emulated no doubt. It frustrates me a little that his whole career get pushed aside and condensed to just a Jordan copycat. And often he gets forgotten like the league went from Jordan to Lebron as if he didn't have the crown.
because lebron was crowned "king" before he won anything so many people forgot about bryant
Because he was a MJ clone, "mamba mentality" is just a spin on Mike's killer instinct, any influence Kobe had on the game, is just second hand Jordan influence
LeBron went to L.A. to erase Kobe.
@@Ysoserious1 Like how Kobe singlehandedly brought the NBA to China? Was that Jordan's influence? Did you watch the 08 olympics? Kobe's influence in Asia alone is enough for his influence to be called unique. (Probably helped that his name was Asian though)
Heck the largest percentage of the league is wearing his shoes too lmao. The whole Chistmas day shoe reveal thing Nike and Adidas athletes do for signature sneakers started in 2010 with the Grinches. So stop it. And Remember what basketball shoes looked like before and AFTER the Kobe IV's....
Watch the tape of him in Asia if you think I'm kidding - ua-cam.com/video/HXwN8oPCkLc/v-deo.html
Kobe brought the game to one of the biggest markets in the world. Now yes, Steph IS the most influential player today. But Kobe and the other geats mentioned are primary pioneers of the league's popularity today.
We in Africa watching NBA because Steph Curry is playing and gives us an entertainment matches 🎉
We in MEXICO watching NBA because of the 1 and only 🐐MJ, because of him we watch basketball🎉
100% agree with Rivers in this one
A point people are missing is the team success. People shot threes before Curry entered the league, but not as many as him. The fact that Curry and Klay were both lethal three point shooters, and the team started winning championships playing that style, lead the rest of the NBA to copy that style of play. Analytics started to be the dominant philosophy. If the Warriors didn't win championships then nobody would of cared much about Curry shooting threes.
Austin’s take was great
Curry is the most influential player all time. no debate needed.
The fact that Steph is still playing at such a high level, and keeping our team relevant (let alone, in the playoff mix) is a testament to how great he is. Personally, it's going to be a sad day when he retires, because there won't be anyone else like him, doing what he does. While other players in NBA history have been great three-point shooters, none of them were also multiple time champions, multiple time MVPs and setting all kinds of crazy records. That's going to be Steph's legacy.
He is , but what blows my mind is the amount of beating he takes an never gets calls to get to line.
My mans arms after end of game look like he got attacked by a group of cats
What a beautiful take by Austin 🙏, well said
It's an absolutely terrible take because LeBron said put MJ aside we all know he is on another level when it comes to influence. Smh ...
The way Curry looks in the thumbnail y’all made that man look older then Lebron😂
Steph is the most influential player of all time.
Not with LBJ in the picture! Curry NOW yes, but of all time its a toss up between LJB and Jordan!
@@thandocezula9219 Lebron is not even in the same stratosphere as MJ and Curry’s influence.
Lebron is influential in you not bound to being a forward or a guard if you’re tall
After MJ
@@thandocezula9219it’s not a toss up it’s MJ. You guys wanna force Lebron everywhere he’s not half as more influential than Jordan
LBJ mentioned MJ. Don’t get it twisted.
Yea he did.
Yeah but it was vague in how mentioned MJ and not directly explaining/giving credit to MJ for his global impact/influence on the game.
@@KayMattersOfficial yeah - because the topic was about steph
Someone said Jordan all time, and currently Steph! I agree with that analysis! As a 37-year-old South African the Chicago Buls were the only team that mattered in the 90s and they still enjoy that fame thanks to Jordan.
@@KayMattersOfficialno he didn't it wasn't vague at all
Not a fan of A. Riviers.
But, he said no lies. MJ. Kobe. Curry. Changed the game, big time!
Last decade, it's Steph. No question about that.
Thank u Stephen A
A lot of NBA players also mention Tracy McGrady.
The way curry revolutionized the game gives him the nod EASILY over Lebron. Jordan, Kobe, Steph!

Why is this a big debate? 😂 Running out of topics ?
Yeah. Not many of us can do the s*** his airness pulled off but with enough pratice and adding at least something to the frame. You can rain it in at least at a respectable clip to steph. Most of us aint hucking from half court but still. The 3 ball has been alot more desirable shot since he came up
Jordan, Kobe and Steph currently today
No.
also they said nobody jacked up 3s like that before
uhm nick young was getting them up jason terry was getting them up etc
the only difference is steph range and the effeciency/versatility of off ball and on ball shooting
in addiction to steph not really playin in the mid range like most scorers do

Chef cooking with the pot boy 🔥🔥🔥🔥
In terms of growing the league popularity worldwide and raising the level of quality of players it’s MJ, players having shoe contract and endorsements movies - your favorite player learned from Kobe who learned from MJ -
Curry changed the style of play stretching floor, 3 pointer and changing center roles etc etc
#CurryGoat🐐☝🏼
Never really liked him as a player, but Austin talks about basketball very well. Might not agree with his assessments but I think he does a good job stating why he feels the way he does. Reminds me of Richard Jefferson. He has a future as an analyst. There certainly have been better career players who don’t talk about it very well.
It’s MJ 💯
It's actually Mike D'Antoni, paired with some soft comissioning 🤣
Just go to the park with a bball court. Everyone shooting thinking they curry. That's all the evidence you need.
Could argue Dirk helped move the trend for bigs to shoot 3s more as well
Why they have a older looking Steph Curry on the thumb nail. 😂
Curry is the greatest imo
1x FMVP 0x all nba defense. 22K points in 16 years. How could that possibly be the greatest…
Not the best ever but the Greatest. Like Ali, the most beautiful style of his breed.

Ok, hear me out. I'm not the guy who has completely given up on Steve Kerr, but if the warriors want to look for another coach, how about Mike D'antoni? Thoughts?
It’s both Steph and Klay together that’s had the most influence on the game. The splash brothers changed the way teams play not just Curry alone.
It's more Steph because of the variety of ways to get the shot off REGARDLESS of distance
Thank you for mentioning Klay Thompson. His influence is often negated and undermined.
It’s Curry by himself. Curry made Klay, Klay didn’t make Klay. He was avg 10 points in the 2015 finals while curry avg 27 and that was his mvp year.

This conversation is why we need LeBron & JJ’s podcast, Kobe’s (🙏🏾😇) Detail podcast, & more like it. What is the point of this argument?
People really need to go back and watch documentaries on Dr. J. You should watch how much severance and respect that man got from EVERYONE for what he did for basketball. The man is true class and played with a style never seen by anyone. The afro and how he helped combine the NBA and ABA is unmatched. He was a cultural icon that influenced so many players. Look when he retired how much love he got from Magic, Kareem, Bird, MJ. When he won the title with Philly the entire country celebrated it. And, oh yeah he was a great basketball player too and not just dunker, though that was another thing he was the pioneer of. Look youngsters there would have been no MJ, Nique, Cater, etc. without the great Dr. J. While I know he might not be in the GOAT conversation or maybe even the top 10 for this man to not get the respect he deserves sometimes is baffling to me. He is on my Mt. Rushmore for everything he did for the game. He is a legend and even a better person. He averaged 24.2 points, 8.5 boards, 4.2 assists, 2 steals and almost 2 blocks a game. He shot over 50% from the field. There is no more influential player in history to me than the great Dr. J.
David Stern wouldve had Draymond in the Philippines by now
Thank you Austin. Finally someone speaks the truth here in ESPN.
I don’t even watch here anymore I just saw from another channel that someone finally speaking the truth here.
Mj and Kobe for sure.
Why keep asking the same question if everybody keep having the same answer?
Iverson and his crossover is nothing to sneeze at. Brought an element of “street ball” to the NBA. It wasn’t just the way he dressed.
Stephen Curry is an all around/pass first point guard. It’s just his greatest weapon is his tree point shooting
Jordan D riding here is insane
lol how?
it’s sad smh

Speaking facts. Ya'll wanna deny how great Jordan was for some reason. Jordan influence is second to none
@@sideshowbobsaget8876 I’m speaking to the point that you don’t need to be a Jordan guy to know basketball. I’m not questioning his influence.
Steph single handily change the game and the way teams play the game. He’s the most influential player all time and it’s not close
How many players wear number 23. I rest my case
Who’s the worse influence in the game? ESPN definitely not touching that one
Steph is the worst influence of the kids/aau game
I picked Davidson to beat Maryland on my brackets in '07 solely because of Curry. I did some research on Scout and found out he was a three-star recruit, Dell Curry's son, and I believe he led the NCAA in scoring as a freshman or maybe it was that he led freshmen in scoring. His sophomore season was when he really became a national sensation, though. It's incredible to think back on how Davidson had the ball with a chance to make the Final Four at the buzzer against a Kansas team that had 8 or 9 McDonald's All Americans, upperclassmen McAA mostly such as Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers, not the scrawny, overrated freshmen of Kentucky you see nowadays. I was not surprised that his game translated to the NBA.
Why they make Curry look 48 yrs old in the thumbnail…
He really starting to look like Dell now
Kids these days not running around saying they wanna be like Kobe or Mike curry got little kids pulling 25 foot 3s
because its a skill you can learn and improve on, my 10kids all wants to play 3 points because not everyone can shoot and dunking looks meh to them.
That's not because of Curry. That's how the game is played now because of analytics. Curry isn't more influential than Jordan or Kobe
@@sideshowbobsaget8876if the warriors didn't win a championship,no one will shoot many threes logo threes like curry
@Lean12265 The Warriors emulated the 14-Spurs who destroyed the Heat in the Finals. D'Antoni Rockets and Suns, Harden and the Warriors plus analytics. That isn't Curry he's just the GOAT 3-point shooter. 3's were tending up every yr/decade. Also, show some love to the 94 & 95 Rockets who utilized the 3-ball inside out with Hakeem.
@@sideshowbobsaget8876 You're quite correct about how three pointers were becoming a thing even w/o Curry, but the point is, the exponential growth of the use of three pointers is most likely due to Steph because after his MVP seasons, three pointers just exploded

Don Nelson did it before D'antoni
MJ is the most influential player ever when it comes to the off-court stuff: the visibility, global popularity, that type of thing. But the ACTUAL GAME of basketball? It's Steph and it's not even close.
Thats why i love this new pod from JJ and LBJ, rivers just needs to find a way to whine about stuff... like he mentioned MJ while rivers saying he did not is nothing more then throwing shade..
Curry shooting all the beautiful 3s which gave Warriors their 4 championship during Steph's era. Now everyone's game is shooting threes. MJ fadeaway and dunks were so famous back then but only few players can dunk. I love MJ from the past and Steph for the present(i only discovered Steph during the pandemic and i fell in love with his game). About Kobe im not aware of his game, i only got curious about him when Kuminga said that he watch Kobe's highlights. MJ, Curry and Kobe solidifies their name on their own era.Players come and go and leave their legacy.
Do you guys buy jordans because of mike or because they look dope?
The funny thing about Michael Jordan is anytime they mention him today they always have to mention his shoes why the younger generation never saw him play they could only see clips on UA-cam and Michael Jordan is not their goal, the older generation still have a love and infatuation with Jordan because they saw him play and that's okay.
And along with 4 rings that means it's the STEPH ERA.
PERIODT.
Real nba fans know that the spurs and the suns started the 3 pt influence on that game
MJ/Kobe - Mentality and work ethic impact
Lebron - To be able to play 1-5 if you 6’6 and above
Allen Iverson - to be a brand and be yourself
Steph - To be the small guy and be great
They all impact the game today honestly more Steph that anybody
D'Antoni introduced the philosophy, but Steph made everyone BELIEVE IT WAS VIABLE
These type of debates is exactly why LeBron and JJ started their pod lol
Steph today is the biggest influence today. Steph is great, it’s unfortunate that people think they are Steph and it has negatively impacted the NBA. The ratings are not eye popping.
Michael Jordan was on another level to anyone that is being named. His influence wasn't just on the court, but off the court. His sneakers are still the most popular and best selling today, decades after he retired. Why did Lebron wear #23 in his career? Who took endorsements to the stratosphere? This was all before the Internet explosion. This is before social media!
Before social media things was also taken as a fact and had no push back to whatever narrative they wanted to run with but steph is the most influential player on the court off the court it's Jordan easily
@@peezydabeatmonster8112MJ made it possible for guys like Curry. MJ changed the game from being a big man’s league to a guard league.
