Thanks! I have some more ideas as well. These types of videos seem to be super helpful for Skydio peeps. I might make some more. There's always new ideas, tricks etc that I'm learning with this drone.
@@LiveLikePete You have a great way of explaining and demonstrating what you're talking about, it's super helpful. It would be awesome to see one on how you actually use the drone and beacon as you ride. Take off, landing, positioning, loss of signal, and other tricks. The drone adds such awesome footage, but feels a bit intimidating and also a pain in the butt to use as you ride, like can you truly ignore it and just ride?
@@DirtZen I appreciate the feedback. Definitely want to make a video touching on more points like you mentioned as well as some more advanced stuff as well. No you can never really ignore it, but I have become much more comfortable by just trusting the blue light on the beacon and riding. It takes time to get that confidence built up. Having the setup dialed in is one of the 1st steps so you're not fidgeting with stuff while riding.
Pete, great video with excellent points. I've just started using my Skydio and I have to say the ND filters are such a great addition. I can't wait to get out more and film with this amazing little drone. Cheers.
Great video. Thanks for the tips. I use my skydio2 with my motorcycle and beacon too. After the most recent update, I noticed my beacon keeps disconnecting from the drone very frequently. Everytime it disconnects, the drone just shoots upwards randomly. Have you noticed this happen? Any solution? I have the beacon mounted on my tank with industrial Velcro so it's in line of sight of the drone..
Thanks. It may be shooting up because whatever your behavior settings are set for it to do when it disconnects. Maybe try mounting the beacon on the bars and see lf it stays connected? It may be getting some interference or something. Reach out to Skydio customer support. They may have some better tips. They've been super helpful for me so far.
Excellent tips. My Skydio 2 Plus Cinema is lost in the mail somewhere in Cali. Lol. What about battery use? You have 5. Is that magic number? Too many? I have a dual usb port on my TW200. Thinking 4 batteries rotating should be OK with heavy Skydio use. Any thoughts? How long to charge a battery? Thx!
Thanks! I have 5 only because I won 3 of them in a Skydio 4k screen grab contest. To be honest, it's hard to use all 5. lol I rarely need them all. I think 3 or 4 would be plenty especially if you have the new 2+ batteries. It depends on how many flights Yiu have planned and your access to power. It takes a little under an hour to charge one. A regular USB port won't be enough. You need a high power usb-c charger like a laptop power adapter to charge one.
Awesome winning 3 batteries! Ok. That's good to know regarding USB-c charging. I have the same RAM phone mount and Dirty Beacon. Appreciate the videos. That's a lot of work!
@@OffGridandWhiskey thanks for the feedback. It lets me know these types of videos are worth making. 👍😆 If you go to my video gear link in the video description, I listed the power cable/ charger in there that I use when a wall outlet isn't available. 👍
Great gear suggestions and tips. What's your process to sync the beacon to the phone? Do you connect the phone app to the drone first, then the beacon or visa versa? It's been hit and miss for me each time I stop the bike to fly. Subscribed!
Good tips, sir! 👍 Tip #3 example looked expensive and painful!! ...but at least you got it on video! 😉😁 Thanks for the Dirty J recommendation from a couple weeks ago. Hopefully I'll be back out riding this week!
Two questions. Which KLIM Nac Backpack? The Technical Backpack, or the Technical Shift 3? Second question. Is the best sequence for pairing drone, beacon, phone....Beacon to drone, then phone? Or does it matter. Every time I try to use my drone, beacon and phone....seems like it takes forever to get all three synced up. I am pretty sure it is just user error. Thanks in advance.
It's the KLIM Nac Pak Technical Backpack. This one, amzn.to/3YqBGIO As for pairing, the proper sequence is to pair the beacon to the drone, then open your phone app and pair it to the beacon wifi. Sometimes it takes a few minutes and can be frustrating, but the more you do it you'll figure it out and it starts to go quicker.
Nah, not worth forking out another $1300+ when I already have a 2 that works flawlessly. The obstacle avoidance is not any better with the 2+. Reception and range, yes, but not enough to replace my 2. I'm happy with my original Skydio2.
Here's the Skydio coupon code & link for those who are interested in picking up a Skydio 2+! LIVELIKEPETE link: skydio.pxf.io/livelikepete

Phenomenal video, wickedly helpful

Thank for the review. Just got a new 2023 300 XCW.
Welcome! They're badass bikes. So much fun. Enjoy. 🤛

Amazing points there to keep in mind .. thank you

Now, if I could just afford one.
I did list a coupon code. 🤷♂️🤣

Thank you James. These drones are alot of fun. They capture some pretty cool stuff! Have fun with your Skydio.
Thank you, have you tried the original Skydio protector in the rain if it leaks water inside the case?
Protector? What do you mean? Do you mean the case? If so, I've been in some light rain and it's been ok.
Thanks for the onfo
Welcome! 👊
Thank you for the tips. Tip 3 made me laugh from experience. I was lucky and did not crash. Great quick hitter video. 👍👍

Thanks so much! I sync the beacon to the drone and then sync the phone to the beacon. That's how Skydio says to do it and it seems to work best.
I have to enter the beacons WiFi password every time. Is that normal?
@@adamluckey no, it should only have to be entered once.
I want a Skydio, do you think the follow-up of the new Skydio 2+ is better? What do you know in practice?
It's supposed to be better as far as more range and stronger signal. I'm pretty happy with my S2. I don't have any experience with the 2+ yet.

What kind of riding shirt is that? You ever get problems with video files transferring to computer?
It's an MSR jersey. It's a couple years old. Never any issues uploading footage. I pull the SD card and transfer it with a card reader.
