- Away from main city roads of Nashik, a path unexpectedly branches towards a dam and a dense clump of trees. To the average passerby, this countryside path reveals little of the hidden gem beyond-a personal hideout for the architect Sanjay Patil’s family. A farmhouse in Mahiravani.
The farmhouse’s story began with arches from an old wada, preserved by the architect for over two decades. These arches frame the spaces, notable for the absence of formal walls, doors, and windows, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Built on sustainable architecture principles and minimalist living, the design reflects local architecture and suits Nashik's composite climate. A water-harvesting pond, solar panels, and site-quarried stone masonry highlight the sustainable approach.
First-time visitors navigating the dam and wooden surrounds find ambiguity until the sloping stone walls of the farmhouse emerge, inviting them inside. The sounds of chirping birds and humming bees, the sheltering roof's slope, and the cool terracotta floor create a perfect transition into the courtyard at the heart of the space. The tranquil lotus court further draws visitors in, crafting a tapestry of light and shade with utter simplicity. The juxtaposition of rough stone with warm terracotta and wood, the sharp edges of gravel softened by tender leaves, and the calmness of water collectively instill a sense of harmony. Outside, a serene swimming pool seamlessly blends with the surroundings.

I presonally love open houses but what about insects and mosquitos. Its surrounded by so many trees so how do you handle this issue?
You can plant various trees/plants which are know to be insect/mosquito repellent, The more variety you bring in, the more beneficial insects you attract which will eat harmful insects at various stages.
And one other thing, clean homes usually don't have that much of an issue of insects and mosquitos, and good airflow will also help in this matter.

What would add real value is to know how such houses are maintained. How many people does it take for the upkeep? How much money per month? How do they handle services like sewage and water? How do they generate power. How do they handle security which is a big issue for most families; especially with family members who either travel a lot or live far from the people who live in such houses.
In short, all the practical aspects of owning such a house. That is what needs to be addressed in videos.

Nothing Gr8 with such land parcel available in non-metros & ample resources available at hand. By showcasing such projects you clearly convey abt your prospective clientele, but they are not here watching such videos & you know that as well. It’s the common man who needs help when he acquires a land parcel and wish to build something like this in his sunset years but that time all such architectural perspectives are beyond his means.
