I own a 06 919 that’s been very well taken care of. I’m the second owner and it’s been in a garage it’s whole life. I left it outside once overnight and felt terrible about it lol. Just ran her over 16k miles. Bike is absolutely mint. Best bike I’ve owned and something about it is just so much fun! The smelly exhaust is the cherry on top for me. One of the best bikes ever made.

You get rid of the stink by converting it to a traditional single exhaust via cbr900rr header and custom fabbed mid-pipe. It also uncorks the top end and gives you another 7hp or so. If you really wanna have fun, get a Hagon adjustable rear shock and front springs with 15 weight fork oil. It stiffens it up yet it's still compliant enough for the road. Then drop the front forks 15mm or so, it quickens the steering tremendously. Cheers!

I was afraid to see what you'd say about the 919. It was my 3rd bike that I bought after a Yama YZ 250 (well-used), a KLR 650, then this. The 919 is still ridden every summer here in Utah by me, and it has about 44k miles on it (I probably have a lot to work on with it). I bought mine in '07 and love it...glad to see it still passes muster with you guys!

Well, its cool to see the Hornet back again! Fueling is a bit touchy but it lugs down low so good, I just do most slow stuff in 2nd gear. The "choke" is really just a fast idle to warm her up. Sadly, I am about to part ways with mine as I just purchased a 890 Duke R to replace her. I told myself I would have to sell the old stuff to make room in the garage. So if your looking for a very clean 919 :).....Thanks for all the fun content!

DO NOT wrap your exhaust if you live in a humid area or ever plan on riding in wet conditions. The wrap traps moisture and rapidly rusts the the exhaust.

Wouldn't the heat from the exhaust evaporate any water, while riding? However, if you don't ride often, the cloth will gather excess moisture from the air.

I have a Honda Hornet, except its a 08 model with a 599cc engine and about 190 kilos wet. Makes the same amount of power but redlines alot higher. Great generation of bikes and its a shame the cb650r and new Hornet are either much heavier or a different configuration all-together

Actually the hornet project made me leave the channel for like a year or two, it was really painfull to watch episode after episode of Yammie struggle to get it through all the issues of such a wretched machine, i had to stay away from watching him suffer but now hearing from him that he learned a lot from that experience and that he helds that bike into such high esteem feels like closure to me.
