It wouldn’t be “just as bad” for the Russians to cut off their oil. It would be catastrophically worse for them because it is about to be their only source of income. Other nations can increase their own supply or release reserves to offset the loss of Russian oil, so they wouldn’t be nearly as hurt by this as Russia itself would be.
oil can't just apper from nowhere! it takes ages for oil to be formed and it cannot suddenly spring up in new york just because the US sanctioned Russia... They'll all beg Russia for the precious fuel once the war is over! not everyone can afford electric cars whose production includes the need for oil too! Russia also has plenty of food and rare minirals like platinum... its Europe which will suffer most, Africans have no beef with the mafia
Africa is a big continent, and it has no problem dealing with Russia, so effectively they will still survive and their oil and grain would still be appreciated, despite their squables with the west, it's none of Africa's business to meddle in wars they can't fight. Yes. This will keep the Russian economy from complete annihilation. However, they have thousands of other products that will not be purchased and will leave those people devastated. They won’t have money to spend on other things in the country and it snowballs. If you think buying Russian fuel will save their entire economy, then you’re sadly mistaken. Both China and India aren’t going to bail them out. They will take advantage of this opportunity to forced bad trade deals on Russia.

What are you talking about? No nation is pumping out their full capabilities of oil. They keep supply low to keep prices high. The U.S alone has millions of barrels of oil stocked away in reserves. Every nation in OPEC can increase the amount of oil they pump out significantly.

As someone in the EU on that russian gas line I think governments underestimate how much hardship we are willing to take. Im ok with brownouts and cold nights (but not old people freezing) if it helps. We shouls be cutting our gas use from russian sources. We have we have 8 months before next winter to figure out new sources.
@AMON RA The USA has its own supply, we just don't use it for the sake of our land and imports, aka, land-beauty and money. We're like the person who says they're broke but still has a large savings account they can access if they willingly give up their good looks (destroy the land). It's likely there are other countries who would buy from us or have their own. We also have cheap renewable energies, but we just need to fund them. The USA having fossil fuels is part of the reason Russia wants Alaska back and paints the "west" as bad guys, didn't you know? It's why they make excuses to invade everyone, because they want something that isn't theirs and they will take it without permission. If you call them out on their actions, they gaslight you. Mostly our Republican party in the USA is like that. I know a lot of politicians' patriotism is coated with propaganda and a Napoleon-complex, so they destroy others willingly. Russia probably won't invade the USA because of our armed civilians and military, so their only option is bombing to show a "big-d*ck-swing".
So lame though. Espionage is so much classier, and in retrospect I expected more from Russia than January 6th of last year. He couldn't even get Trump on board correctly, and probably because they're both too full of themselves emotionally. Can't even espionage right. What happened to Russia? USA and Europe still pays Russia around 1 billion USD a day for gas and petrol. Also explain why personal properties were part of this sanction? Against the war, we should sanction all countries that start wars, countries that have been at war with foreign countries, one country that has invaded Afghanistan, Syria, Cuba, North Korea, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Somalia, Laos, Vietnam, and Kosovo; This country deserves the most severe condemnation.

Imposing sanction on a country it is also hurting your own economy especially economy as big as Russia. Do you remember what happened to USA imposed sanction on China for the tiananian square incident. Their sanction did hurt China economy and slow China economy down but eventually usa lifted the sanctions because it didn’t have much affect on China in a long run and USA needed china.
