The info on your take on learning scales was absolute GOLD!!!
Thanks
Always hope to take away one thing from any lesson and here I got the idea to look at scales as arpeggios with passing notes. So the 1, 3, 5 notes are the resolve while the other notes or noises are the tension. Amazingly useful for me in terms of phrasing and constructing lines. Thank you Jason! Massive fan following your lessons on my Les Paul Special.
I just stumbled on your channel today. Watched a couple of videos so far. Good stuff. I have a big smile because of your comments on scales! I remember back in the 80s reading an article by Joe Pass which he explained it similarly. That is the real key to making music: think about the chords not the scales.
You are great on the guitar........way above me. carry on !
Brilliant Thankyou
I really enjoyed listening to your inspired playing and you explained so many things I had not understood before. Although I was reaching above my level watching this, at some point I may be able to play somewhere close to this. Thanks again!
Very good
Bro, much love to you. I was so enjoying jamming along with you. This lesson is just what I needed. Next level.
Good stuff. The 6th is what I used to call Ellie Mae chords 😅. IYKYK
Great teacher
some more good info.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
First of all, very nice playing; and secondly but most importantly, Thank you for this. It's super useful, interesting, and enlightening too.
My pleasure
Thank you Jason ! You are talented an a great instructor . I have most of your TrueFire videos and now started your master classes. You are much appreciated.
Thanks!
Very simple yet powerful concept
A very cool little chat bro 👍🏻..
Subed ..
All good stuff. Thank ya sir!
My pleasure
Great Information in the video. Got the Imitation Lap Steel Course yesterday. Have most of your Truefire courses. Hope the Imitation Lap Steel Course has a Q/A section available. Thanks !!
Nope. 2 hours and 50 lessons so you should be covered but im always available for private lessons if you need extra help
Love the sounds and melodies you create Jason. You make all those genres sound so distinct but still using the same chord shapes and techniques. Really enjoyed watching this and trying to play along. Working through a few of your truefire courses also now and really enjoying those as well. Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks!
Excellent!!!
JL.......really nice...6th. Chord analytical approach.....very generous thanks for sharing
Love that 6th chord. Really helps with adding a subtle color. Can't wait for the pedal steel course!
This one coming up is an Imitating Lap Steel course. No bends ;) Pedal steel is on the horizon
Loved the rant on bebop scale! Great perspective.
@@JasonLoughlinMusic excuse my ignorance. I did order it. Tbh you have taken me into a lot of new territories including this. I am more of a jazz-blues player but the country and rockabilly styles are so instructive. I have really gotten a lot out of your master classes on country guitar. And love your work on true fire.
@@uberjam-sam8512 It's only great perspective if you don't know the diminished 6th scale.
That’s great Jason, wish I had caught this live! You playing and the styles you teach are right up my alley.
I bought your truefire country course and have been enjoying it. Really informative and well put together.
Very cool 😎 😎 thanks!
One of the best lessons I've ever seen. Well done.
Another absolutely outstanding lesson Jason. I've been watching instructional videos for years and why you've just recently shown up in my feed is a mystery to me. Checking out your channel I see you've been doing this for a long time so I've been missing out. Not anymore. Hands down the best on the net
You’re the best! Thank you for all your work!
Outstanding lesson! Thx Jason
Just magic
Nice job , great lesson. Easy to follow.
Great lesson, Thanks! Scales did not get me where I wanted to go, CAGED and arpeggios are. Sometimes I think music book publishers make things more complicated than they need to be.
This cat’s deep. Cheers Dallas
Swing time ! Love it
Hello from the UK
Loved this video and the cool ease swapping beween genres and styles and some great lines, I'm curious Jason how did you get started playing and learn the theory you demonstrate and comment on here? Loved the comment: Scales are just arpeggios plus some passing tones. :)
I'm guessing pro musical parent/s, started early or am i miles off?
I am 70 years, just getting deeper into theory and no time to waste studying unecessary stuff. Your comments were very helpful, thanks.
What kind of strings you use on your tele u r a great guitarist and teacher. Keep um coming. Jim
Hey Thanks James! I use Dadarrio 10-46 nickel
Light bulb went off!
Glad to hear it
Jason... Was wondering do you have a pedal board... What's on it? What amp do you sue for the videos... I could listen to you all day... I've learned quite a few things from you... Thanks for your time.. Dominic
Depends on the gig but usually not much.
Yaass you are the man
Thanks Kenny
What are some good artists to listen to, illustrating the use of these chords?
the white telecaster - which pickups do you use?
