I feel like no one talks about how Nicki may have influence a lot of pop fans to start listening to rap. When Drake and Nicki came out they were dropping raps / pop songs and we’re getting a lot of radio. While a lot of people didn’t like it at the the time and called it not real rap it really put rap back to mainstream after the 90’s there really wasn’t much till 2010’s. Now the #1 is rap and you see all these people tryna be rappers.

I grew up on Hip Hop. When the Sugar Hill Gang had their first rap song. Hip hop had so many females at one point and then it died off. Nicki DID revive female rap. The difference between before her and after her is that the women who came before her weren't sexualized and were focused on the art of rap. After Nicki there's been an influx but the issue is that most of them are just selling sex and its boring. Nicki has sold sex but the way she does it is pure lyricism. Most of these girls don't have that. They don't even care about that in my opinion. The ones who have true lyricism aren't mainstream. If you're looking for actual lyricism there's women rappers out there but unfortunately these oversexualized girls are the ones in the forefront. I find that to be sad.
