When I watched this episode I absolutely loved it (in fairness I still do) however after watching reviews I am having to rethink who I thought I was as a person because of something I missed and should not have.
Info on me I left all forms of social media except for UA-cam in 2020 (had been going on less and less since Brexit). I hated the toxicity of it, the racism, bigotry, abilism etc etc. it affected my mental health because it was making me so angry and sad. I have tried to bring my 3 kids up to not judge, to see that race, religion, sexualities etc are not important only who they are as a person their heart so to speak. Kindness being something they needed to look for as I tried to be.
However I didn't see the racism until it was pointed out and then it was so obvious I was ashamed I hadn't seen that part. I saw the rest just not that 😢
I mentioned it to my partner who said it was because I never do see the colour of someone's skin only their character but I just don't feel that is a good enough reason to not see it.
I also need to stop theorising on things to because if I can't see something as obvious as that I definitely will be missing other clues so no more theories from me.
I have upped my initial 7.5-8/10 to an 8.5-9/10 because it has made me have to re-evaluate myself and that definitely gives it an extra point.

Genuine question. If you watched a show set in Africa, and you didn’t think it was weird that the cast was all African, or watched a show set in korea, and didn’t think to weird that the cast was all Korean, or a show set in Brazil and didn’t think it weird that all the cast was Brazilian, why is it weird or racist to have a cast that is all white? There are places in the world (Iceland for example) that have 90% of their population as white, which means if your doing a show based in Iceland it would not be wrong or unusual to have an all white cast. Having a white cast is not inherently racist. So not noticing the cast was all white does not mean you are somehow “wrong” and “racist”. A normal person would just assume that the area being portrayed as a certain genome shared, like if you see a show set in China, it would be weird if the cast wasn’t nearly 100% Chinese. Not everywhere can be this huge melting pot of all different genomes if the human race, and it’s okay to showcase groups that share similar genome types.

@@Intotheabyss1988 where the population is as you suggested a majority POC or white then no it wouldn't be unusual or racist. However the UK is a blend of many different cultures and races so an all white cast is something that should be noticeable. Is it inherently racist no not necessarily it depends on the storyline and the setting. This could just have been about very rich kids and they happen to all be white. The problem isn't so much the all white cast it's the micro aggression shown in the way Lindy spoke to the Doctor that I should have spotted.
So I guess in answer to your question no it is not necessarily racism when the cast is all one particular ethnic group however that really didn't apply in this case ifygwim

Dot and Bubble was an episode which, based on the trailers, I wasn't particularly looking forward too. How wrong I was.
This episode sucked you in and then delivered a couple of gut punches punctuated by Murray Golds exquisite soundtrack.
Full credit has to go to Callie Cooke for the way she played Lindy.
Maybe I'm strange but once again a Doctor light (although not as light as 73 yards) episode really shines out.
On the Susan Twist front I liked RTDs use of puns for her appearance this week. As she appeared on screen as Lindys mother the "Penny" literally dropped for the Doctor & Ruby as they recognised her.

Thank you for your comment. Absolutely agree with everything you say here. Easily the best episode of the season so far. Well written, fantastic score from Murray Gold and outstanding performances. I didn't clock the Susan Twist/Penny reference. Well done for noticing and sharing 😁👍
